But with 4 real life ddays making the morning, day, afternoon and night posts, this thing may take forever to actually get started, but what do you all think of this idea?

I don't think you will get many people {other than addicts like me } to post in the RP every day - so a 4 day cycle is good, if people can only post once every four days, then they can just add there whole day in one post...

This is just my paranoia about people not finish....

TitaniumAlloy, I hope you don't mind me interacting a little bit with you,(you can read the post), on terms where you don't really know I am.

I think I might just begin by taking a close watch of people, in hopes of not screwing too much with all the wonderful storylines I see appearing already. Excited!

I just made a new change for the day, read it in the Metrograde thread

It will change you're day slightly, but no need to worry

Also the posting with this thread is awesome, I didn't expect it be this good quality, nice work everyone lol, I am enjoying every minute of this

Oh and also, when the first day is over and it gets onto the second day, that is when you may start to interact with someone or a group of people within you're day, if that is what you want, it is entirely you're choice.

Also, with the posting, I have decided to take Fogs suggestion.

But within one post do this:

Morning (waking up, getting ready for work, goes up to 11:59 am)

Day (in the day, at work, having lunch and all that 12:00 pm to around  3:59 pm)

Afternoon (in the afternoon, arriving home from work if you come home at that time of day usually, getting tired and all of that, 4:00 pm to around 6:59 pm)

Night (at nightime, when you may be arriving home from work, sitting at home watching some TV, or making dinner or walking outside visint freinds and all that, from 7:00 pm to around Morning)

That is what it should be set out, I figured it may make it easier to interact with one another, much much easier.

Tell me you're suggestions about this, if you have any.

I don't think you need to specify times...

or

Specify times and not what happens during these times, e.g. 2am to 8am, 8-4,4-8,8-2...

It doesn't really matter though... I'll let someone else say what they think

@Ruby; sounds fine. I don't rlly have much of a plan of what I'm going to do so it's not like you can ruin anything

@Will; to be honest, I don't like this idea. To post in an RP constantly to keep it active is hard enough, let alone with these restricting guidelines. Interaction should be fine with just people posting and discussing it in the OOC thread. Because this way we can tell more of a story rather than a diary of what we did during the day.

But one thing I think we could have would be that you can only post one post per day in Metrograde, unlike what FOG did where he posted one part of his day and then later posted the next part.

That would work fine.

Just my thoughts, it's your thread.

Well that was what I originally wanted, for you to post you're entire day into one post, not seperate posts, I mean it is ok if you make a post, but then edit it later because you are short on time or something, that is totally fine.

Ok, now new rule:

You MUST post you're entire day in one post, not have seperate posts for seperate part's of the day, but must be in one post.

I may allow for people to have some extra time if they are busy in RL or something, and they want to edit their post for one particular day, but couldn't because of business in real life, I may allow for that, if that is the case then send me a HCM or just announce so here

For interaction purposes my guys name will be.... (haven't thought of this yet) Blair.

And his name on the streets and in the drug scene, like his nickname, is Skyray because of his blue eyes.

I'm going to withdraw Doodles, mainly because I originally conceived Doodles to have an action packed non-stop adventure.  I mean like 10,000 words for just one day (spread out over 50 posts).  Also I have no idea where to take this story really .

I'll see if I can come up with another character though that is more in keeping with your basic premise.

Here's Doodles in remembrance:

Quote:

Doodles the psychic clown is performing in Altramoneux square, the main park of Metrograde.

He spends the morning making balloon giraffes for kids.  Around noon a dark skinned man walks by.  Doodles the psychic clown suddenly sees a vision of a mushroom cloud enveloping and destroying metrograde.  His heart thrashes wildly in his chest.

He must act!

Doodles doesn't know what to do so he follows the man.

out of the park...

down a street...

around a corner...

past the bus station....

Wait a second, Doodles saw the man give a secret sign to the man at the bus station who is sitting at a table filled with literature.  The dark-skinned man keeps going.  Doodles decides to follow him.

Doodles is still following the man that triggered the psychic event.  Suddenly a child appears in front of him.

Child: "Doodles, can you make me a balloon hat"

Doodles: "Hey there little kiddie, Doodles has important grown-up business right now...."

*child starts screaming*

Child:  "I wanna balloon hat! I wanna balloon hat! I wanna balloon hat! I wanna balloon hat! I wanna balloon hat! I wanna balloon hat! I wanna balloon hat! I wanna balloon hat! I wanna balloon hat! I wanna balloon hat! I wanna balloon hat! I wanna balloon hat! I wanna balloon hat! I wanna balloon hat! "

Doodles: "Okay hold on."

Doodles makes a balloon hat faster then he's even made a balloon hat before.  Then he leaves the boy.  He's lost sight of the man though, so he starts running to try and find him.

That was cool Fog

I just hope that you come up with another character, but I shal lwait for you, but it isnt that big of a rush, we are still waiting for the other 3 people to post (rsf, TNT and VF) or would you all like it if we post whenever we want, without waiting for people that have not posted?

But ofcourse you would need to wait for me, and not make posts whenever you want, like I mean you can make them whenever you want and even if some people have not posted yet for one day, we can go onto the next day, or is that unfair?

I would say we should wait for them to post before going onto the next day.

Well, doesn't it make it a little bit tricker to interact if we do it in just one post?
It feels like we'd be a bit too restricted to each other's story lines if we only did it in one.

Well alright I see you're point, but how about this:

You make you're entire day for you're post, but leaving out the interaction bit, and then in another post that will be the interaction, and the person you are interacting with can do the same, posting their entire day but leaving out interaction and then making a seperate post which is in regards to the interaction moment.

Would that be better?

I think people should be free to have the thread progress as they wish and at the pace at which they desire. I think it should act like a story and an RP.

This thread reminds me of Lords of Tanaran, the original version by SillyWabbit. And if it's going to be successful, I think for the most part, William you should remain hands off and proceed to the next day when the bulk of people are ready to do so.

To add something to the basic idea of things, if no one responds to a post, then when William goes to the next day, that's when we could write around someone not posting.

Now the pace of the thread I think is something that should be agreed upon before hand. How fast or slow do we want this thread to advance? I think that is something that is fairly important and will likely change from day to day depending on how the thread is running. Ideally, I see this thread functioning on a system where William will on occasion throw people curveballs or unexpected events.

Solution to Pace Disagreements:

1.) Those who want to go at a slower pace and really flesh out a single day should remove their character from interactions with others and simply not post on one day, so that they give themselves time to write one very long post.

2.) Those who want to go at a faster pace and skip ahead to the next day, could start planning things with other people or join another RP.

3.) If people want the next day to go slower or if they want the current day to go longer, they should request it and give the reason why. If they want to develop more things to happen because they want to write more about the interactions between a few characters, then it would be perfectly fine, so long as multiple people want to do it.

However, say only two people want to continue an interaction for the day, we might slow it down a little bit, but if everyone else it waiting, then we'll set a firm time constraint and if you don't post in time, then oh well.

So you mean like being able to post their day with as many posts as they want?
Like they might post in that specific format:

Morning
Day
Evening
Night

Kinda like that you mean?

Well if you want to proceed to the next day, when all of you agree, then just say so in here, and then I shall get started with the next day and all the things that will happen in that day

Yeah that is totally fine in my opinion, yeah you should write around someone not posting, if I start with the new day, and then perhaps the person that did not post for one day, could kind of catch up or something?

Well with me throwing people curveball or unexpected events kind of makes this rp a little more interesting in my opinion.
Later in this story, I will throw in some things just to certain individuals maybe something like:

TA, YOU HAVE LOST YOU'RE JOB AND YOU'RE HOUSE

Or something like that anyway, you klnow what I mean right?

That is how I would want the story to work, but if some of you might like to object then feel free to do so, and I shall see what I can do

1. that would be a rather good idea, nice one

2.

3. Thatwould also work, and if they request it here, I shall see what I can do, and see if it goes well with other people's stories or whatever you may like to call them.

Well that's about it really

Thanks for that RSF, you have many good ideas, anyone else wanna comment on this?

Maybe you could post say the new day once a week.

So at the start of every real life week, you post saying what happens that day, and to whom etc. without interruptions perhaps.

Then, everyone can post as much as they want to sum up their day DURING THAT WEEK. This means that two people could interact by posting more than once.

But by the end of the week you should have concluded your day, and then Will you post again, saying what happens for THAT day.

Any unfinished interactions can be edited, or could be left as if the people went home without anything of interest happening.

I think this fits in kinda with what RSF said, but makes things alot easier and free form... and simpler.
