Ability to change units into heroes

i was playing Heroes 4 yesterday and when my hero deid in battle a saw that the creatures kept moving (like a hero), so i think it would be good to have this ability in H5.

How it works

ok, in your build a town menu, when you build a tavern, thats it, i think there should be an upgrade for the tavern, allowing you to change the creature into a hero, but only one type.

Cost: 3000 Gold.
Building: upgrade of tavern
Hero: must already have a hero with level 5 or over, and the creature must be in the Heroes army.

Creatures

Sylvan: Druid Elder
Academy: Archmage
Haven: Paladin
Dungeon: Grim Raider
Inferno: Arch Devil
Necropolis: Vampire Lord
Fortress: Blackbear rider

Symbols

Druid Elder


Archmage


Paladin


Grim Raider


Arch Devil


Vampire Lord


Blackbear rider

Giving a Name

Simple when you want to turn a creature into a hero it will say please give a name.

I don't understand this. The feature that armies could move without Heroes has been discussed elsewhere (look up the thread "Features Come Back" in the Temple Of Ashan forum). However, I don't understand the thing with upgrading units into Heroes!? Would you wan't to replace the traditional "buy hero" feature, or what would the point in this be?

ok, i will have a look, but still their are some disaventages, like: can not have a speciality, or they can not more than one creature hero, but i think it would be a good thing from the old game anyway

Hmm, I have an idea:


1.  Build The Tavern.

2.  Build Upg. Tavern, now you can hire, one very, very strange creature, and it is different for every race in the game, the creature is half - hero, half - normal creature, it can be killed in battle, the creature can use spells and it have levels as hero, but the creature is something like castle manager, it can fite only when the town is under siege.

It will be very cool

You're talking about an improved version of Heroes II captain. It was a nice idea at the time but it was replaced by garrisoned heroes. The only difference between garrisoned hero and your creature is the ability to fight, but then it faces the balance issue - how to make useful but not overpowered.

You're talking about an improved version of Heroes II captain. It was a nice idea at the time but it was replaced by garrisoned heroes. The only difference between garrisoned hero and your creature is the ability to fight, but then it faces the balance issue - how to make useful but not overpowered.

Eh - if this was just supposed to replace the Garrison hero, I don't see any point in it. Why add something with less possibility than what we already have? If it was going to be there besides the Garrison hero I also see no point in it - might as well open up for two Garrison heroes. And I think the whole concept of a "Sir Kornul" (or whatever his name) who will show up in all your Haven towns (at the same time) is something that should be avoided at all cost.

Hey, have you ever play Heroes 2 ? The captain is something different!

And this are examples for half-heroes, they must be many, and when you upg you Tavern you can choose you half-hero for the town.

The commander (or captain, or ....) can:

1. Fight, when in the town is no garrison hero.

2. Fight with the hero, when the town is under siege.

The half-hero look like the commanders in WoG, but only in the town.

Yes, I played Heroes 2. And as someone wisely pointed out above, the Commander was abandoned because the Garrison Hero slot was introduced with Heroes 3. And that's why I don't see any use in this feature: The Hero can move, level up, collect ressources, and learn skills. The Commander can do nothing. And if you'd still have to hire him, why not spend the money on a Hero instead?

thanks VokialBG, slightly off topic, but still i supose its mailnly on topic,

anyhow very nice, i think it would be very handy to do this (garrisons), and having a semi-hero would be quite good
