ICTC: the stampede

contray to popular belief, i have created a ogre faction that is good! this is for the ICTC, by the way.

the stampede

aka: the ogres (no orcs!)
country: the golden plains
capital: Chaga-dai, the city of storms.
colours: brown, white and yellow
worship: Slyath, as the stormserpent
motto: you looking for a fight? (they fight anyone and everyone)
core philosophy: might makes right, but we leave no-one behind!
emblem: two headed serpent, flint
allies: Slyvan, fortress
neutral: dungeon, academy
enemies: Haven, Inferno, nercopolis
arch-enemies: the stronghold!

ogres are tall, strong and fat, to put it bluntly. ogres height ranges from 9ft up too 14ft, and their weight is always around the 600pounds. their massive guts are not made of pure fat, but have a layer of muscle to grind down particularly solid foodstuffs. their arms are as thick as a mans chest and they can lift a empty caravan each. ogre legs are large and tireless, and an ogre can march for days on end. an ogres face is human like, but their mouth has a large amount of teeth, from vicious canines to blunt molars. however, despite the mouth, and ogres face is kind and resolute. their hair is often long and thick, making most fully grown ogres have mane of hair akind to a lions. however, some keep their hair back in bobbles and braids
ogres clothing often includes, somewhere, the skull of the first person they killed. their cloths are similar to the aztecs and the mayans, along with their weaponary and architecture.
ogres, personality wise, are a friendly race. they are often fond of a drink and a bit to eat (several, i should say) whilst they talk about this and that. they also are a feircely competeative race, and don't really allow for excuses. whilst some people may see this as brutal, the ogres justify it by saying that they, in reality, are equal to the next ogre, be they female, from a different tribe, maimed or aged, so they don't discriminate on these circumstances.
the ogres are the humans who left the free cities in their droves when they found them almost uninhabitable. Slyath heard their plies and took them under his wing, so to speak. he changed them, making them bigger, stronger, more durable, changing them into the ogres. they live on the plains, ecking out a tribal existance among lord Sylaths mighty creations (the dragon mad genius). they live for several things, most importantly, eating and fighting.
eating has taken on a spiritual significance to the ogres, as they went away (guided by Slyath) because of lack of food, so they have turned out fat and contented. at birth, ogre children are not only able to drink milk, but also eat soft foods. ogre marriages often have huge feasts, often lasting until the next day. once an ogre is died, their closest companions (family, friends, partner) may eat the parts of them that gave them strenght (the heart for courage, brain for intelligence).
ogres have a tradition of eating three meals a day, but these can vary in size. you can quickly tell the status of an ogre by the size of their stomach. Ogres with a large belly are considered wealth and strong, after all, they must have eaten alot to get a gut that big. ogres who are too big for some cloths are often thought of to be attractive patners. Feast masters are the priests of Slyath, and refusing a meal from them is a crime that often means exile.
fighting is all about proving yourself. ogres live in a very heculain society, with the strongest, bravest and most intelligent surviving. honour comes into fighting alot, as ogres value personal honour above anything else, and a slight on their behalf with usually end in a bone-crunching duel to the death (and a good victory meal for whoever wins). some tribe actually have a fight at marriages (playful wrestling, really, but humans are advised not to get involved) to see whether it will be the brides side paying for it, or the grooms. if the bride wins, the groom's father has to pay for it. if the groom wins, the brides father has to pay for it. marriages are only payed for at the end.
the ogres worship Slyath as the stormserpent. they worship Slyath as a guide, rather than a god. their society is not male or female driven, it is more about whoever is strong enough to lead them. if an ogre dies, the inheritance is split and given to all the child, usually, be they male or female. there are some sexual divides, however. male ogres are often found to be better in combat than females, who, likewise, are much better hunters, but generally, an ogre goes any way he or she wants.
the stampede army is all about the charge. the ogres charge into combat, swords and clubs clashing, with huge beasts called behemoths crashing infront of them. tiny Kobolds, the bigger ones making the littler ones carry them, run into combat armed with pointy sticks.
ogres language, Chak-dan, is no too disimilar to the language spoke over the world, but certian phases are said differently. "day when much blood is spilt" would be Chak-dan for a massacre, whilst flirting would be "to gain the love of an other". "sheilds up" is defensive formation and "big eat" is Chak-dan for a feast.
ogre marriages are a big thing. if there is a wedding, all friends and family turn up and bring food and gifts. the set up to marriages are similar to modern ones, both the bride and groom choose whether they want to be married, rather than arranged marriages. divorces never happen, and the marriages only ends when one of the two dies. if this happens, the remaining member, as well as family and friends, must pay their respect and mourn, after that year the reaming member must find another partner.
ogre names are not given to them at birth, though nicknames are. once an ogre reaches puberty, they are given a task to achieve in a certian feild, be it in military tactics, feast magic, storm calling, hunting or singing. once they achieve this feild, they are given a name and something to do with the ogres main religion, eating. the second world is akind to the christian names and the combination that the ogre choses to have them.
the hero is the feastmaster. Feastmasters are often the biggest, fattest, strongest, most intelligent and feircest ogres of the society. if a feastmaster wants you as their next meal, the only thing between you and their sprawling gut is a fast horse and a huge amount of luck. the feastmasters are the holders of the sacred feasts, and so have access to their gods blessing through feast magic. Feastmasters often boast about how they have managed to stomach stuff that would normally kill a ogre outright. these ogres are the cheiftans in the ogres tribe.

history

48ysd: Founding of the Free Cities of the East. Emperor Brian Falcon gives absolute power to the Church of the Dragon of Light. The Human kingdom is renamed "Holy Falcon Empire". Dissent grows among many citizens who resent being forced to abandon their faith in Sylath. Many will leave the Empire's territory to found the Free Cities of the East.

54ysd: the freecitiers finally reach the land which they can call their own, the ice tundra of the east. they create the first of the cities there, Partogurg, and there they live.

58ysd: after increased rationing, the food finally wears out. the people the the free cities starve. any food that is found is immediately set upon and eaten. some of the poeple turn to cannibalism to stay alive

62ysd: a vision comes to a young boy, Orsov. he claims that there is a land of food to the south, were game and greenery is plentyfull. many people listen to this boy, and about 90% of the population follow him.

66ysd: the half starved exodites reach the golden plains, after viscous attacks by gnolls in the mountians. they enjoy their first feast there, retiring, bloated, to sleep.
that night, they began to dream. a massive, feathered, twoheaded serpent came to them, telling them that he was Slyath, the mighty dragon of air. he had brought them here to this lush pasture, he would make them the mightiest creatures here, for unshaking belief in him (basically think of a fuastian pact). one by one, the exodites agreed.

66-205ysd: over these years, the exodites began to change. they grew taller, towering over what they were previously, and their muscles density increased, making their limbs more powerful and resiliant to damage. with these new limbs, they could catch prey more easily, and so aquired paunches, to consist with their intake of food. they're mouths become lined with new teeth, everything from sharp rippers, to crunching molars. they're legs and arms became longer, their shoulders broader. they became the ultimate predator of the lands. they became the ogres! some left, for fear of changing into animals, whilst other left to explore. seperately, they became the halflings and the trolls.

207ysd: the first essances of feast magic were discovered by fatgut. after eating a large meal, he sat back to dream. Slyath came again, telling him that he had created a link to magic and eating. waking up, fatgut accidently blasted the nearest tree, that burst into flame. this began the lengthy progress of experimenting with feast magic.

211ysd: finally, a feastmaster named greatmaw came to the conclusion that eating certian things did certian tasks, like eating a mammoths heart may increase durablity, and eating windrider tentalces might create a small breeze. his ideas were carved out into the tablets of feastmagic.

213ysd: the gnolls invade the golden plains. they are tired of the mountians are always hungry, so attack the golden plains. the ogres fought hard, but many tribes were enslaved. the remaining tribes were driven deeper into the plains.

217ysd: an amazing discovery. the giants came to help the ogres. the giants were the other inhabitant of the plains, who had always fought the ogres since they first arrived. but now, seeing the threat of the gnolls invasion, the giants pledge their alleigance to the ogres. the gaints, and there cyclops kin, help bring the end of the gnoll invasions.

234ysd: the discovery of the behemoths. explorations into the golden plains found the mighty Behemoths around the centre of the plains. ogres saw that these creatures, along with the thunderbird that preyed on these creatures, were creations of their god, Slyath. they brought these creatures back to the settlements they had, worshiping them as demigods.

255ysd: the goblin swarms. the goblins had been in the plains for ages now. but seeing these invaders come, the goblins decided to rise up and kill them all. lead by Inci the short-tempered, the Kobolds took over tow villages of ogres, making them their slaves. the goblins claimed that they were the greatest beings on ashan and they would rule forever.

255ysd: that wet season, all the goblins burrows were flooded. many died. the rest migrated to the ogre kingdoms and, on hands and knees, grovelled to be allowed to join them. the ogres, after much consideration, agreed, provided they do the tasks that the ogres wouldn't be able to do. the goblins agreed, all to happy that the ogres didn't eat them.

260ysd: work began on the construction of the Chang-dai. the location of the city was at the holiest point on the plains, thunder lake. the ogres, goblins and Giants worked constantly, throught wind, rain, hail, storms and even snow, to get it finished. it was said that Slyath himself blessed the city by sheding on of his feathers for it. this formed the great temple of Slyath, where feast magic and the magic of storms was practiced daily.

265ysd: Chang-dai is completed. the ogres being building other cities around the plains.

340ysd: the new feastlord, Goldgobbler, sent envoys to the naga, the elves and the dwarves, to show that they mean peace. the elves marvel at the ogres work, the dwarves grudgingly admit they did a fair job, the naga are equally impressed by their handwork. all establish trade routes to Chang-dai, Makro-che and Tenokiclun, the three biggest cities in the the plains.

340-467ysd: the years of peace in the golden plains. not much happens here.

467-507ysd: the orc crusades. Orcish rebellion in the Seven Cities, which spreads to Haven. Rejecting their masters and the Dragon Gods, the Orcs declare themselves free. The fighting is brutal, and the Orcs are relentlessly driven back. Eventually, the unrepentant survivors flee wherever they can, including the deserts of the south, the steppes of the north-east and the Barrier Islands of the east. the orcs survivors sweep through the golden plains, killing ogres as they go. they head to the unknown east, to wear the freecities lie. the ogres swear vengence on the orcs and vow they would not rest until they pay back the lives lost.

the mordern ages

951ysd: the ogres sent some troops to help in the gray alliance, however, they are facing trouble from the east as the stronghold being
to come over the mountians to fight them.

956ysd: the battle of screamers pass. the ogres get the first taste of how the orcs and the free citiers have changed. from the primitive savages and the weaklings the the cold north, the orcs and the free citiers had turned into disciplined, fanatical troops of unbelievable power. many ogres fall too the springloaded pikes, the muskets and the other weapons sported by the stronghold. that day, the ogres lose screamers pass.

969ysd: the renegade troops from the west come to the ogres land, and from the east, the stronghold come and invade. now the campaign begins.

I have got a level 3 feast magic idea.

Feast Confension

Effect: you can decide how many goblins you are take for secriface, in the next battle your chreatures's moral is incraced by 1 per 10 goblins, not effected by dark magic (if you sacrifaced at least 30 goblins) and gives a random light magic spell at the begin of the battle (if 10 goblins: level 1 spell, if 20 goblins: level 2 spell, if 30 goblins: level 3 spell, if 40 goblins: level 4 spell, if 50 goblins: level 5 spell).

Sacarface: you decide how many goblins

I can contine your story of ogres:

After all of they work is done, Settlement forces attacked the ogre towns, so they wanted to defend themselves. The Settlement orcs believed they are Stronghold orcs, so attacked them. But th ogres said them they are ogres, so now it is a peace beetwen the Settlement and Stampadte.

Mission 1: The Aliance

No, nonono, just they are attack them.

Wargoge (the famale feastmaster) is standing at an ogre vilagge. The goblins hear a strange sound. Settlement chreatures attack the ogres. But later they are go away.

W: The Settlement always peaceful neighborhood, why now are they attack now?
Ogre Soldiner: I don't know.
W: They belive we are orcs! The haven told them to attack us!
S: We shoud kill them all! The humen and the settlement orcs!
W: No, no, no. We don't have enough troops for it. We have to give Clanlord Mastero a present and make peace between us and them. At least before they are crash us...
S: But, bu, but, but my lady...
W: No, we have to go and make aliance beetwen us and them.

Task 1: Find the Armor of the Forgetten Hero

Notice: first at the small strating are you will have to kill all natureal armyes, collect all rescoures and capture all mines in that small area. If you will take one stepp after the stranting place this will be writed: Settlement Ambush! You lose 20 goblins. Okay if you don't colllect all rescoures, don't kill all natureals etc. and moce out the small place this will be writed: Settlement Ambush! You lose 10 goblins! and if you take one more stepp: Settlement Orc ambush is too strong. If you move further you will lose all of your armyes.

Okay you collected everything, etc. and moved out the small place. Now the only thing left is to find the artifact and move it the Clanlord Mastero.

If you moved the artifact to him this cinematic will be:

Mastero: Idiot stronghold orc! We will kill you soon!
W: No, I came to give you present.
M: Ehhhh, present, yes?
W: off corse. Here is the armor of the forgetten hero.
M: Hmmmmmm. Thanks, so I sure now you are no stronghold people.
W: We are ogres. We are the enemyes of the stronghold.
M: Okay, now the Settlement Orcs and the ogres are allyes! Fight agints the Stronghold!

actually, the storyline of the campaign goes something a little like this

Quote:
1> wargorge is given her mission to collect creatures to send to the front. along the way she fights a group of renegade troops. she finds the remenance of the lightningmaw tribe.
2> wargorge finds the letter from the demonlord to someone, but their name is smudged. she follows the lead to find a demonlord with some renegade associates in the ruins of the blood gut town, butchering its populace. she defeats them.
3> Wargorge is ambushed by spleenripper. he tells her that he is going to become feastlord no make what. she chases after him. she is taken to the frontline. where she meets goreheart.
4> wargorge and Goreheart fight against a force of stronghold warriors, converging on their citadel. Wargorge says that she will round up the warriors near by to form the great stampede once again.
5> goreheart mans the Tornadomouth town, beating off invasions from renegade, inferno, stronghold, and his evil brother. finally, wargorge shows up with a huge amount of troops, along with the feastlord greedguts, which you can destroy the enemy towns with.

with an opening secquence somethin like this

Quote:
Greediguts: the war worries me greatly, Wargorge. it has been days since we heard from the bloodgut tribe or the lightningmaw tribe, i am beginning to see our doom approching.

wargorge: i have sent messages to the elves of Irollan and the dwarves of Grimheim requesting for reinforcements. however, the messages that i recieved are deeply distressing, they say...

Allorn: (voice over) the holy griffon empire has attacked both Grimheim and Irollan. we are expending to many warriors fighting the demons, the undead and the humans to send any reinforcements. we are trully sorry about the inconvince.

Wargorge: much the same reply came from Tohglar, Greediguts. we are fighting a dangerous war on three fronts. against the demons, against the free cities, and agains the holy griffon empire. I feel that its my responsiblity to go to the frontline and help Goreheart.

Greediguts: Wargorge, you are young and visionary, much like i was when i was your age. alright, you may go to the front, but take as many people with you.

Wargorge: the great stampede with run agian, sir. Slyath be with you.

greediguts: Slyath be with you to, my friend.

Do you really think that ogres called Greediguts and Wargorge could have that sort of a discussion? Either give them normal names and make the ogres a semi-civilized nation as a whole, or change their dialogue to something like this:
Greediguts: Dem Bloodgutz an' Lightin'mawz ain't nowhere to be found!!
Wargorge: Bah, I told dem pointy eared elfies and dem stonekissin' dwarfs to giv us more boyz for da fightin', but dem chickenz ain't sendin nuffin!
Then someone yells "AAARGHH!" very loudly for no apparent reason.

etc.

Don't forget, they ARE ogres.

if you read the history. balkava, you'll find that they were once human... yes they are ogres, but that doesn't mean that they are stupid.

as for the names, alot of america indians had names that meant similar things to the ogre names. Geronimo, for instance, was an american indian warrior, his name means "he who yawns". and yet they speak perfectly normally, not in broken garbled nonsense.

Yes, but his name was Geronimo, not Hewhoyawns, cause it sounds cool in his language. Hence, you can change Greediguts' name to something that sounds cool and explain that it means "He whose guts are greedy" in ogrish. I mean, if their appearance changed so much, why wouldn't their language? Here's an explanation for that: in the process of... mutation, if you will, their jaws got different along with their bodies so now they can't speak human language normally. They developed their own language which is actually simplified human.
I don't know. Do as you wish, but such wise speech from someone whose name is Greediguts (and who, as you wrote, lives by two activites, eating and fighting) is unfitting, regardless of his ancestry. That's just a friendly advice.

It a good idea of Baklava!
In a tredishional races like the orcs, there are usually meanings to peoples' names.

Will you compete the second ICTC contest?
You have a good chance, I think.
But do it for fun!
And anyway it will improve your faction.
