Description:
The Conflux archmages are proud seekers after knowledge and subjugators of the elemental order. The Conflux society is dedicated to wisdom and knowledge. The elementalists spend their lives studying and writing occult research studies.
A senate of planeswalkers, called The Elemental Conflux, rules the nomad camps of the elemenatalists, though each of the nomad camp maintains a greater or lesser degree of independence. Magi and Archmage who are incapable of elemental powers are essentially second class, with an ability to harness sorcerous power being the key to social and political advancement.
Magic is taught in confluxes in the large camps, as hedge wizardry is frowned upon. These confluxes are formal places (much like Oxford or Cambridge in the real world) where which school you’re in means a great deal about what you will learn, how you learn it, and how the rest of your life plays out. Elementalists tend to cluster into “schools” following the teachings of one great magus or another, and rivalries between schools are fierce.
The elementalists rule a people of servant creatures that have been either summoned or magically animated by them.

Quote: the blair wisp...TONY BLAIR GOT INTO THE GAME?!?!?!?!?!?!ARGH!!!!!!!!!!!NOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!
apart from that, i think its great. i was having my own ideas about the elemental conflux.
the conflux
aka: the elemental races
colours: green, orange, red, blue, yellow, purple and white.
worship: all the elemental dragons, including asha.
country: Hashima, the bamboo forest
capitol city: Nariya, the city of the seven spirits
core philosophy: through magic, might and unit, we will win.
motto: we hold no power as individuals, but we are invicible as one!
i was thinking that the actual town is elemental creatures (dryads, undines, wisps etc) rather than elementals themselves. elementals are cool, but they lack the sentience to become a actual town (how would they build the buildings if they had no other thought apart from to do their masters bidding( they needed individual thought, rather than just directions)) when i say human, i ment free thinking, with their own personalities, ways of warfare, etc. the Confluxion idea is great, but it should be for the elementals already in HommV, with additional spells to summon manifestations and spirits.
the elementals live on the junglish island of Hashima. they are a proud race, who tend to get one everyones nerves because of their arrogance. they worship all the elemental dragons, and also Asha. they have been around since the creation of the world, and know alot about their history. they are ruled over by the emporer, who is elected by the congression of elemental masters (the elementalist to you and me) and the elemental spirits.
all elementals are human like, with a japanese culture. each element has a patron spirit who is a particular animal. as the elemental progress (upgrades) they begin to look like that animal.
byuuji- fox spirit and lord of the air elementals (slyphs)
Hewila- tiger spirit and lady of the light elementals (wisps)
Nibina- dolphin spirit and lady of the water elementals (undines)
Gumnuo- panda spirit and lady of the earth elementals (dryads)
Shadwo- gecko spirit and lord of the shadow elementals (changelings)
Raknas- dragon spirit and lord of the fire elementals (efreets)
the emporer- ruler of all the elementals and patron of the magic elementals (pheonixs)
units
wisp-> wisp geisha
wisps are the light elementals, and are the most numerous. they cannot attack, but use the light, reflected of their mirrors, to dazzle the opponenet and temporeally blind them.
(small, armed with a large mirror, shooter, dazzles enemy, upgrade can heal allies): light house
Slyph-> slyph trickster
slyphs are light hearted creatures of air and wind. they are creative, playful, quick thinking creatures that attack with their bowstaffs.
(small, armed with a bowstaff, flyer, upgrade is incorpeable): Aerial workshop
undine-> undine Oban
Undines are the solemn, studious creatures of water. they are seldom smiling, but they are always armed with longbows on the battlefeild.
(small, armed with a recurve bow and arrows, shooter, upgrade can cast some dark magic): watery pagoda
efreet-> efreet samurai
efreets are the embodyment of the fierce fire. large and imposing, they float across the battlefiel with twin swords, dealing damage and destruction only their element can.
(large, armed with twin samurai swords, walker, upgrade can teleport and cast fireball): fiery Dojo
dryad-> dryad sumo
Dryads are the kind, loving, earth creatures. they are large and corpulent, with a loving face and powerful arms. they are able to wrestle a knight of his horse.
(large, bare hands, walker, upgrade can heal and use stone spikes): ring of earth
changeling-> changeling shinobi
the Changelings are the silent creatures of shadow. quiet, shaded and swift, they dart across the battlefeild, sending knives into the enemy.
(small, armed with a myraid of knives, walker, upgrade can turn invisible and can cast phantom forces): shadowy shrine
pheonix-> pheonix ronin
pheonixes are the embodiement of magic. huge wings carry them into the battlefield, powerful spells leap from their fingers, and terrible claws take the enemies lives.
(large, bare hands, wings and claws (karate), flyer/spellcaster, upgrade is just better): temple of magic
just a few ideas for the japanese elemental faction. more coming soon
Sorr y but I already undertaken the job of making elementals.

Well, this thread obviously prove that I was wrong when I wrote the following in the other topic on the old creatures:
Wrong: Take units, make up theme.
Correct: Take theme, make up units.
I would like to correct myself:
Wrong: Take units, make up theme.
Correct: Take theme, make up units that match each other AND match the theme.

Both ideas are kinda good. I don't like Elemental town like Conflux in H3 but if there would be Efreets, Phoenix and those Magis or Enchanters etc. The creature line up could be rather interesting. Lots of Elementals on creatures and spell casting units. Hmm too bad Warlock allready has the Elemental Chains that would suit this town perfectly!

It was aimed at the original post, mostly, but it applies to your town as well to some extent. I don't see any coherence in your line-up. I know you have a supposed elemental connection for these creatures, but for me, that's too vague. Saying that Dryads are earth creatures and Efreets are fire creatures still don't make them go well together for me.

you even have a creature that is exactly the same level, with almost exactly the same name!
to answer aclibaides: efreets are fire spirits and dryads are earth spirits. 3DO only put efreets in with inferno as they were running out of ideas, so they found something fiery and made it evil. in some text, Efreets are friendly creatures.
however, if you can come up with better suggestions, then i'm all ears. (and nine tails)

But I think that a conflux town should includ the elementals...
Fire Elmental, Water Elmental, Earth Elmental and Air Elmental.
Don't you think?

Yes, I know Dryads are earth "spirits" and Efreets are fire "spirits", but that does not make them go well in the town. Sylvan has strong ties to the Earth element, and the Dryad would fit in perfectly there. Fortress has strong ties to the Fire element, and the Efreet would fit in nicely there. The Efreet was ok in the Inferno, but you are very right - the Efreet actually is neither Infernal nor Demonic. The Efreet is also very tightly connected to the Djinn (which is an air spirit), so you might even group those two together - although classis D&D roleplaying have them as enemies.

We (Daystar + yours truly) already did ... Go look in the "Do you want the Conflux back" topic - or maybe we should recaptulate and collect it all in a new thread (Daystar, what do you say - check your PM).

i think the Djinns go well with the elemantals, there spirits so they kind of fit
problems in HoF
1. dwelling of shadow dragons says it produces Deep dragnos, it doesnt although its rather annoying
2. phoniex swelling says it produces fire birds, doesnt
3. you can not select the elemental conflux to produce one elemental, it just picks it at random

i wanted to avoid the same mistake that 3DO made in H3, but using well known lvl4 creatures and trying to put them in a lower level. my creatures are elemental races, who are manifestations of the element, rather than elemental itself. in a perfect world, i would have made the original elementals these creatures. but, we don't live in a perfect world, so i have to find loopholes.
