Fareport - OOC (ERP)
The largest coastal city in all of the empire. Fareport houses tens of thousands of people. It's rich waters and central trade routes bring wealth to the city. Everything that goes to the capitol, must first go to Fareport.
But like all cities, it can be rough and dangerous should you come across the wrong folk. This RP is about Fareport and the many different people who live, work, and even visit there.
I'd like this RP to be more of a traditional fantasy. I'd also like to try this out as our first ERP (Episodic Role Play).
To put it simply, if you join this thread, the story will be finished in a couple weeks. But don't worry if you miss out on the first story. We should begin to meet the characters a bit more and will be able to come up with completely new stories about Fareport with the same characters, new characters, or both.
The tales won't be too long and may or may not have a lot of people in them. Once each story begins, it will be closed to additional members wishing to join unless given specific permission.
Essentially, if you are afraid that you won't be able to make a long term committment, but you think you'll be able to post a few times over the next couple weeks, then feel free to join.
If you have never done an RP before and want to try it out, then you need only make a few posts. Anyway, now that you get the idea of how this thread will work. Let's start coming up with some characters and some storylines.

No this will be a fantasy setting.
Metrograde is a realistic world. This will be entirely different.

Okay, I'll join.
My first character will be the local tax collector. His name is Simeon Greer, and he is a small, chubby, and grubby man who overcollects to repay a sizable debt to the king, with intention of keeping any excess money for himself. He accrued his debt by borrowing in order to set up a tournament grounds (with gambling den on the side, of course), but his love of drink and women caused him to squander most of the money before he was sober enough to consider pursuing his dream.
He is despised by much of the townfolk and lives alone without a friend to call his own. The nobility for which he works despise him as well, since he had lied about where the money was going. As a result of his lonliness, he has developed a callous and mannerless exterior that would put most anyone who would want to befriend him at odds with their own goals.

Well, I would like to join in this one.
The character would be a mercenary, a little mid aged. Some 37 years or so, many scars, stronger then skillfull, although he is experienced. For a time he accepted any kind of jobs having no since of guilt. But as he gained experience and became known in the field, he began to turn down more desgusting jobs.
Great wrestler, and a fair swordsman. Has a little sense of tatics since he leaded a few ambush parties. After being some time at the job he gained a little fame, and began charging higher for his services. Has recently, for the first time in his life, earned enough money to guarentee a few months of smooth living. Since then, has been seriously considering leaving town and make some adventuring for himself.

I've got an idea for a character and a plot.
It would involve the characters submitted from Shadowcaster and from Locust.
My character would be a poor man who lives with his wife and two kids on the outskirts of town. He has a boy of 11 and a girl of 14. His entire family used to work for a rich family as butlers and maids for years and years. But about a year ago the father of the family passed away of old age and the family decided to move away from Fareport. Since then his family has been taking all the oddjobs they can find and is barely squeeking by as it is.
How this could tie in the two characters...
My character would be the brother of Locust's mercenary. At around the age of 20 their parents died. Locust had been a bit unruly as a child, constantly getting himself into trouble. After their parents died, Locust became a mercenary. My character found a job working for the same rich family, he had worked for, for 15 years. There he met his future wife, who was working there as a maid.
Anyway, my character greatly disapproved of his brother's new line of work. He could never bring himself to completely cut off all contact with his brother. And so instead he merely gives his brother grief every time they meet.
Recent events:
Shadowcaster's tax collector has been overtaxing many people as of late including my character and his family. With little money and unable to pay the outrageous overtaxation, Shadowcaster's character threatens to have the town officials throw them in jail if they cannot pay the "necessary" amount.
Locust's character goes to the rich family's home to tell his brother that he's leaving town for good. But strangely his brother and his family are not there. Inquiring of the matter, the new residence recall a previous family asking numerous times for a job. But they turned them down, because they simply don't need any more help. They tell him where his brother is living.
Anyway, I think you should be able to figure out where things might go with this. I've thought of several endings that would be fantastic. Anyway if anyone is around tonight, I'd like to chat for a bit about this thread.

Well there are plenty of roles to fill for my story idea. You could be the head lady of the rich family. You could be a maid that works for the rich family. You could come up with your own character if you want.
Or you could come up with another completely new story idea.

Hey, Sox, just received you messege on the other forum... I´m good to go, and don´t worry... I´ll do my role, don´t pretend to let you down. Tell me, should I post in this thread or should I open a IC thread to start up? I´ll start posting as soon as I figure where to. I´ll pass by tomorrow morning to check if you answered, in case I don´t bump into you today.

Just a Idea I had while posting on the IC thread, and that miight ease are joining. Maybe the tax collector could ask my character to go "rip" the money out of your character sox (unaware of course that they were brothers). That would be the shortest way towards him finding out his brother had depts and problems with the taxman. Anyway, just a idea, just thinking details of are first meeting. So, what do you think?

That's a pretty good idea. Though I'd prefer to meet Shadowcaster before hand. Just an order of events thing. I'll post a little later today.
Edit: Locust asked in the thread, if posting a post here or there to introduce and develop your characters a bit at the start of the thread. Go for it.

Make another post developing your character if you. There's still gonna be a bit longer before, you'll starting coming into the forefront of the thread. I need to develop my story for a bit longer. I think people will be posting. If not, then I guess we can auto as needed.
Baby steps right now. I think just a little momentum is needed and then things should pick up.

Alright, I´ll keep my character going on a minor side plot till it´s time to join up then. I´m sticking a couple of NPCs on the story (a tax collector and a warrior/adventurer) to keep me some work for the while. See ya around.

I’m the head maid of one the oldest mansions in Fareport where I was raised. Corada is my given name and it means “ways of new.” I work for the richest blacksmith in town and serve to him and his family among other maids in the home. The previous owner was a blacksmith as well but had left quickly with his family. Still no one know to this day why they really left.
I’m quiet and only speak to those I need to. Sunday evening is my day to walk among the streets of Fareport and watch the others that linger around me. I have been hording my money for years and now I plan to someday leave Fareport. I have never been in love and have only had to beat off the advances of my sleazy boss. Most others in town find him to be a great business man and a wonderful blacksmith if they only knew how is really was they would burn him.
