Further developments in Aculias' evil plot
As you are all aware, we have been investigating Aculias - trying to learn his evil plan before it's too late. One part of his plan has been uncovered, and foiled, so i will tell you all about it now.
For several years Aculias has been posting "SEX!" as an off-topic reply to many threads across HC. We'd always dismissed it as random spam, but have learned that the reason was something much more sinister.
We had actually slowed his progress in the plot by creating the Volcanic Wastelands - since many of his "SEX!" posts have been deleted, but eventually he realized what was happening and began making the posts more frequently in other forums.
Because were were oblivious to the dangers of allowing these posts to remain, and because he chose the ToH forum to post many of them - they were allowed to increase in number until they reached 420.
We have learned now that by posting "SEX" 420 times in any community will activate an unholy beacon, summoning the sexbots.
We were completely unprepared for their onslaught and spent all of our time monitoring their progression into our forums, and logging their activity.
In itself, it would appear that this invasion was an evil attack on Heroes Community, but Aculias had much more in mind than that. The sexbots and spambots were just a diversion for what he was really up to.
While we moderators were scrambling to rid the community of this plague - Aculias managed to take Consis far away from us, a giant blow to the Other side of the Monitor, plunging that forum into darkness. As hate speech and propaganda festered and bubbled in the forums, once again Angelito and I had our attention diverted from Aculias and he was able to realize the third part of his plan.
As the Otherside continued its downward spiral, Binabik became disheartened by the state of the community, and Aculias was able to lure him away.
At present, we have been able to control the bot invasion, and have made great steps towards restoring the OtherSide to what it should be - but still no sign of Binabik. My liaison and I continue to brew boobins - hoping this will rouse Binabik and bring him back to us.
In the meantime, we continue to watch over Aculias, so as to not be so unprepared for his next attack. He attempted to change his appearance to slow our progress in tracking him - but luckily his signature speech patterns are so easily identified that his disguise has failed.
So we wait, and watch...

Hmm, I always thought that Aculias was one of those people that you locked into the HC Attic, but he accidentally got loose and is now causing mayhem.

Of course I do. Guitarguy has been trained to attack people. Look at his Downhill Times thread. You can tell he was sad, but beneath that sadness, was pure anger. I think it's time to unleash him.

Silly Shmalf, Guitarguy has been working with us for years...
It all began in Spring 2006, a new member by the name of "William" appeared, and rapidly began creating new threads. He still had that "just registered" smell about him, but it didn't slow him down one bit.
He had a mixed response, some negative - but that didn't phase him at all for he had happened upon a Quality Post one day, and became obsessed with the idea of having a shiny red star of his own. As his lust for the shinies grew, so did his post count...
Now in the modsquad, we can often go a long time without actually talking to each other about what's going on - so William flew under the radar for quite some time. But then it happened, he became so frenzied about not having yet received a QP that he started asking begging, actually stalking and obsessively harassing mods in his quest to earn some.
I can't count the number of times I felt that tugging on the hem of my robes "hey Pan, I really think you should check out my thread" - "what can I do to make this thread better?" "Do you think Now I could get that QP??"
I tried to help him out, but he seemed to have selective hearing - and only picked up what he wanted to hear, and regardless of what was said - the end result was him asking for another QP...
Eventually it got to be so much that I didn't want to leave my mod tower, so I went to the lounge at HQ to chill out. To my surprise, all of the moderators were there at once, each one looking exhausted.
"'Sup Pan?" MightyMage said
I started to tell them about my recent experiences with William, but I didn't even get to finish the sentence before all of the other moderators jumped up and said "You too?!?". The realization quickly hit that William had been after each of us with the same intense QP beg attacks. Valeriy happened by and popped his head in the lounge
"Hey guys, what's the deal with this William guy? He wants to be a moderator..."
We were all shocked, already he wanted entry into the modsquad? Now as I said, we mods could go a long time without speaking - but the arrival of this supern00b had once again united the squad in full force.
We decided we needed to divert his attention away from us, and Shadowcaster said "Guitarguy!". We were all instantly in agreement, Guitarguy had been a long time defender of the noobs, mothering over them like they were his own children.
So we approached Guitarguy, and asked him to give this fledgling poster some guidance, and to help him with the attackers that had now become rather annoyed with William's maniacal posting style. Naturally Guitarguy said yes, he's rather the type of guy that doesn't refuse a request easily.
It seemed to be working at first, but it merely slowed William down... he still hadn't truly changed at all.
We kept an eye on him, trying our best to deflect the QP beg HCM's that kept on coming over and over and over again. Finally I decided to plant a QP inside Guitarguy's guitar. That finally did the trick - everywhere that Guitarguy went - William was right there behind him.
In hindsight, maybe that was a bit unfair to Guitarguy... but heck - it worked for us!
Eventually William settled down, earned himself the nickname "Shmalf" (since he really didn't enjoy being called Flaming Willy) and things improved greatly over the years.
Now William has cut out the begging, and stopped making Guide threads in hopes to get the precious reds...He still stalks Guitarguy, but really doesn't seem to hurt anyone - so we still haven't taken that Red Star out of Guitarguy's guitar.
The only downside lately, is that in his efforts to be a more responsible poster - Shmalf has become really really serious. hopefully that will work itself out.
So all in all, the modsquad is quite happy with the end result - however we have just learned that thedeath thinks that Guitarguy is cute... hopefully this doesn't set Shmalf on a jealous rampage and cause him to revert to his former ways...
