LONG LIVE ELVES!!!

Elves rock and Lotr elves were awesome... Legolas was just a bit Imbo killing an ollifant by himself ... bit to overpowered!

Elves are great beings and needed in all kind of Fantasy storyline, the only problem is: There is to many kind of elves, Wood elves, High elves, Blood elves, dark elves, Night elves and well who knows how many?! Their should only be one kind elves not 20 !

For the Horde, sad they joined forces with the undead! Baaah!

As far as I know, there are only 2 kind of Elves in HOMM5.
Anyway, I agree with you that only one kind should be.

BTW: the Dark Elves' race isn't really a race.
If there are some evil human, will you do a whole new race for them? Maximum do a renegades' group.

I was talking about all fantasy, and how many kind of elves the fantasy world has made and that i just think there is to many..

You're talking about that first faction that had Centaurs and Grpyhons in the Dungeon? XD

I find the concept of different elf species to be, well, plain normal really, just like you have caucasians, Asians, negroes, you have woodelves, dark elves, high elves, etc.

I don't like tree-hugging woodelfs personally but I love dark elves. Even so, I don't like the way they're used in dungeon in HOMM V. They should be dark-skinned for that matter.

H3 Dungeon was just a random faction, a potpourri of weird creatures together without any particular background or reason.
H5 Dungeon is much more organised and so I prefer it.

I agree. I guess the h3 faction was just created like "uhh-huh, dudes, lets put every vile mythological non-undead non-infernal creature there". And so, we got medusas, beholders, harpies, manticores, minotaurs mixed up together without any sense. Not that it wasn't cool in some way.. it just lacked the organisation we see in H5 . The towns in h5 are generally better developed, with detailed history, some philosophy and reasonable unit choice.

It is an organized race! All the creatures are mutants:
Maticore is a mutant, he has lion's body, dragon's wings and scorpion's tail.
The Minotaur is, too. He's half man and half bull.
The Harpy is half woman and half bird.
I don't really know a lot about the Medusa, but I know she is a mermaid (right?) with snakes as hair.
Evil eye and Troglodyte seem to me mutants, too.

So it's a race. All the creatures are mutants except of the Black Dragon.

Medusa is by no means a mermaid and not a mutant either. The same goes to troglodites and beholders. Moreover, most of those creatures are just too wild to form an organized faction.

Medusa's hair is made of snakes. Looks to me separate of her whole body.
And show me where it's written that Troglodytes and Evil Eyes aren't mutants.

Well, her body is also a snake's body...
But before we go on, I want to hear your definition of "mutant", because I have a feeling that we're talking about different things here.

First of all, she has arms and chest!

Second, as I see it, mutant is something, that belongs to something else (like a group), which is not like the others in his group. For example: a dog with ears of rabbit and legs of a cat.

Well, medusa is a monster and I don't think that the word "mutant" goes well with her. True she has parts that look human and parts that look like a snake, but then we could also say that a dragon is a mutant because he looks like a big lizard with wings of giant bat.

Same for beholder - he is a monster but there is nothing mutant in him.

As for the troglodyte - it is just a very primitive race.

Come on I wasn't serious! Most are monsters from the Greek mythology and no we didn't have mutants back then! The evil eye was a magic creation as the description of Ajit indicates and the manticore's look was already known(somewhere in the east I think). H3 didn't really change something in them, just gathered the nasty dungeon monsters!

Okay, I'm relax now.
And I know where all those creatures come from.
I just think that they are all gathered into one town becuase they are all really... Mutantic.
There's just no other word that can describe it.

Most imaginary animals people of earlier times designed were usually part man-part animal. Maybe due to superstition, a drunk man's stories, something else they saw but were afraid and perceived it as something else. For instance a story I've heard of how the centaurs came to be is that someone saw riders from a distance! I doubt it but they had a vivid imagination and the mythology helped in seeing more of the divine and mystical explanations to normal things. The mutation issue is a modern thing of the past decades. While misinterpreted it is the change or evolution of a genome that may show or not. Someone may have a mutation but the genome doesn't express it in his outside appearance. Some chemicals or rays may cause such a change in the DNA but it's not as if you'll grow another arm or breast! I think that in most cases the changes will pass to the offspring, not the one whose DNA has been altered. As it happened with Chernobyl...

I vote HoMM3. If only because I can't keep a straight face looking at the Dungeon in HoMM5! I mean, it's the Land of the Gratuitous Naked Ladies. Oh, look I upgraded that building... that means I get TWO MORE NAKED LADIES!

And many of the troops... I mean, I like Shadow Matriarchs as a unit, but them and their fetish whips and their goth boots and their little push-up bras and loin cloths... I can't stop snickering. And let's not even talk about the Blood Furies' neathage problem.

Not that I have anything against scantily clad ladies, mind. It's just that the whole look of the faction was so BLATANTLY designed as gamer-boy eye candy, to the extent that it's just silly!
