An empowered implosion misplaced on your best stack by Magic Mirror

I hate Magic Mirror, it's so overpowered when it triggers and redirects the spell on my troops annoying
It's one god damn ability and it's sooo powerful. At level 20, the chances are like 50%! Waaay too strong!

Don't worry, ultimates (almost) never appear in a normal MP game. To be honest, I NEVER saw any ultimate in my career.

How about 'add_exp 1000000000'

Hey, look at this the other way: 15% chance of triggering + 50% chance to strike your units = poor 7% chance of this happening when you're casting a spell. Ain't that much, ey?

No, it's 10% + level*2% of triggering (if I remember right) so it's a 50% chance to redirect the spell at level 20. Too much IMO.

anyway, the effect is exactly as strong as magic resistance because it can hit the enemy units but can also hit yours (magic resistance hits nothing). Then why it's such a high chance? Magic Resistance perk gives a mere 15%, something that is achieved at level 3 with the damn Magic Mirror

(ok, the only thing is that it doesn't work with Area spells, but...)

Well, Academy has no killer stacks out there anyway.. all of them are decent. That makes area spells better.. and solves the problem

With, say, sylvan, you obviously want to get rid of master hunters ASAP, and implosion is better there.

Hey

I think I'll add 2 cents from me. I've been playing dwarves a bit and i must say that they aren't as bad as most think. They have some difficulties with building costs but on the other hand they need less gold due to cheaper money and growth buildings and thanks to that u may freely take exp from chests you find.

Actually thing that annoys me most about cost in runemage's faction is not thane's dwelling but shortage of wood/ore in midgame stage when u want to build your mageguild and upgrade other dwellings.

I generally play fast (medium mostly) maps like penisula. From my experience the best strategies on that kind maps is to either go magic (destructive preferably ) or war machines. When the game finishes around end of month 1 or month 2 week 1 role of any faction's units is very limited.

But lets rerturn to the topic - strategy. Erling - this hero rocks.
He is my answer for creeping difficulties. He starts with sorcery which enables you to regain mana quickly and cast your spells quickly  while your army( in my case most of times defenders only) stand defend and die from time to time. Somebody might say that war machines are equally good or even better because if you have them you don't suffer loses to creeps. Well.. thats true but in my opinion war machines aren't as good as magic when it comes to fight with your opponent. Actually you could have both but taking war machines requires a lot of skills so u might end up not having some other important skills- so its very situational.
Basiclly most of my games looks that i look for anything that can increase my magic abilities then hire bunch from my castle and about 4'th week when im over 15 lvl i go to my opponent.
The strength of this strategy is  based on toughness of your army and   (overpowered in my opinion) destructive magic. Apart from that u may use all warlock strategies like hit&run.
Some may say that dwarves have lowish spellpower and if you want to use destructive , play warlock. True, warlock is better sorcerer but in my opinion his army is very expensive and miserable at the same time. When comes to a fight when i play warlock i just hit defend on most units and they just wait for their turn to die (sometimes they try to do something but are dead before it happens i.e. furies). Runemage's army on the other hand die hard and your not really afraid to attack your enemy because it won't shorten time needed to blow up your opponent with spells.

I think that would be it sorry for mistakes, i'm still learning this language

feluniozbunio: Very nice points, I agree totally.. nice to meet a person who likes peninsula map like I do, btw

Yeah, the dungeon army may feel a bit miserable at times, but it's really not the army's fault: The warlock's lack of competence when leading armies is the thing that hurts here. What I found myself is that you'd need kythra(for leadership which normally is almost impossible to get for warlocks), a ton of +def artifacts, a lot of marlettos/arenas and skills like power of speed and teleport assault to be able to fight with other factions using your creatures as main force.. otherwise, it's just as you said: The army is for decoration and meatshielding, the spells (and, hitting&running) does the job. I still find warlock a powerhouse, perhaps the strongest in the game if played correctly.

Oh yes, and welcome to the forums.

Actually, since necro got nerfed, warlock is my favorite castle but i like to play anything exept for sylvan which sucks ..  going off topic ..i play pure magic warlock build, and yes , creatures are only meatshield for me but it is enough most of times.
