AI:
1) Sees all map
2) Gets huge discounts in gold for town buildings

Not sure if it also gains gold/resources.

Thanks.

I calculated the cost to every building that AI had and was too much for what mines it had.

I was able to destroy it because of powerful spells (particularly empowered circle of winter) with artifact that increases damage. But another game i played with necropolis and when I rush the AI at week 3 with lots os skeletons archers (almost 300), lots of zombies (about 100), some vampire lords (about 15) and some liches, I had my ass kicked... AI was haven and had 4 archangels and lots of paladins. I didnīt had a chance...

Any sugestions with undead against AI on hard difficult?

Thanks

There are a few threads on necro strategies, you could find them in the table of contents sticky. But in short I'd suggest leveling quickly logistics, summoning and enlightenment since they allow fast creeping. Later sorcery/dark/defense are good skills to develop Of course you could skip summoning altogether though I really like expert firetrap, arcane crystal for creeping and later phoenix. Alternatives are mass slow/decay and frenzy/puppet/cotn. If you can get arcane intuition you could easily learn fireball from neutrals and get ignite, that's another powerful tool.

Anyway AI despite having all sorts of advantages it plays very very badly, play a bit and you'll start seeing weaknesses and stupid moves.

I don't remember if AI attacks castles? turtling could work in that case, you would get the advantage of a castle against a superior army. Usually, if you can resist the 1st assault of the AI, then it is dead. in end game, they usually have nothing.

Two questions.

Is there a mod that makes weather effects to the game? There was a lava rain effect in one custom map and it was kinda nice.

Can I play the single scenarios from vanilla and HoF through TotE somehow? I get better graphics in TotE. I know there is a mod for campaing missions but I mean the others like Iron Throne.

Thanks for the advices. I managed to win the AI in hard difficult with necropolis quite easy with just skeleton archers, zombies, ghosts and vampires. The advanced spells of dark magic is just awesome!!!

Fire trap is amazing to kill melee units. just pack the units in one corner and use fire trap to protect them. Blindness is great to incapacitate enemys, specially shooters, giving time to surround and kill. Frenzy creats havoc on enemy lines. Puppet master is the best spell ever. Not just the enemy follow your orders, but he donīt retaliate your units when you strike! Perfect to kill those anoying dragons or other level 7 units.

My actual strategy in hard difficult is to firts build the necessary for skeleton archers, followed by magic guild (lvl 4), zombies (they are great damage absorbers in the first 2 weeks) and ghosts. With this i am able to kill the neutral enemies on every mine by week 2. Them build magic guild level 5. By that time, i have some lichs and vampires thanks to necromancy. Just build mansion for more vampires and attack the AI. By the time i have about 200-250 skeletons archers, lots os zombies and ghosts and a good group of vampires.

As the AI in hard difficult in week 4 have about 6 level 7 units and lots os level 6 and below, just use powerful dark magic spells (frenzy, puppet master, blindness, mass weakness, mass vulnerability) and some fire traps to lure theirs melee units next to ghosts wich will be surrounded by fire traps...

Thats just game over and veeeery funny. I wonder if this is effective against humans players too...

I love tactical games. Much more interesting that just brute force.

You need to use dig option and set it to x3. Otherwise you cannot clear the underground.. Don't ask me why that is.

~HELP~ I am one of the biggest fans of Heroes of Might and Magic III and am looking into buying Heroes V. I never bought it b/c I play basically only Hotseat and a lot of people said it was bad for Hotseat bc the AI takes so long to process turns. Has this been fixed/updated?

thanks

Game delay was due to a bug with instant travel iirc. Turns are fine for me except when I play a map of the largest size with many opponents.

Gold is not the only building requirement, did you check resources? Also some maps do not allow you to update a town beyond a certain point but it says so clearly in the town building screen. You could not have missed it.

Seems you have already figured it out but I might just add my tactics that I used on a Heroic game with necropolis. Three words; raise dead, frenzy/puppet master and vampirization. Although they had 5 towns (3 of them being the same) and always ended up way superior in army strength I always beat them with almost no casaulties at all. Simply camp your castle and let them come, use Frenzy/Puppet Master well and destroy their catapult with your shooters. That way they can't enter except for flying units (which you of course either control fully or have put Frenzy on). Now lean back and watch them kill eachother while you resurrect whatever troops you may have lost in the end of the battle, either by using Raise dead or Vampirization. Because of their intergalactic army size you'll receive TONS of exp and level up quickly, and soon you'll be strong enough for these battles to take place outside your town as well if you like. Good luck in future games with the Necropolis!

Hi everyone!

I was reading for some times this forum to improve mine homm5 gameplay, so now i decide to register.
I have some questions if someone can answer thx.

1) I love playing slyvan(ranger) race and im using Ossir most of the times as mine 1st hero , can you recommend some other hero and explain how to use him.
2) What skills are you getting for Ossir and what unit composition ( i like to skipp the blade dancers tier2 unit and rush for hunters and druids)
3) I read some of you guys get hero lvls 7-9 by the end of week 1 and 12-15 week 2), how do you creep and what creep should i avoid

Thx for replys

23. Any multiplayer maps you would recommend?
Certainly not ubi's, try toh. In no particular order: The Giants(!), MasterMind(!), Rat Race(!), The Abysmal(!), SideKick, Ability, Dragon Hill, School of Sorcery(!), Master of Disguise. People who like complicated epic maps may enjoy battlezone, hourglass, Twilight World(!) or genesis. For short games try Dragon's Cape, Heritage of Deleb(!).
Those with exclamation mark are favourites of mine

are thoose still the maps that are being played? ..where can i get them?

Played maps come and go, what matters is how much your opponent has played them. Links are in the masterpost as usual.
