So here is the situation..
Opponent is DUNGEON and picks Yrwanna...so I figure I'm in for a mentored Kamikazee game (UG). I end up being ACADEMY and am offered Havez and Jhora (good combo to start). I decide to go with Jhora. Since magic mirror/reistance only buffers the magic onslaught of mentored dungeon casters...I thought I should try "counterspell" (which I hadn't used before) as additional safeguard, especially since Jhora is already 2/3 there to getting it.
Long story short: Thanks to COUNTERSPELL..kamikazee's only got off one blast with meteor shower (2 of the creatures ended up resisting it, I believe) in about 3 battles leading up to "main battle". Jhora's frequent action "counterspells" worked beuatifully and it turned into pretty easy victory (since mana is rarely a problem for wizards...draining 2X per cast I could still outlast Yrwanna (both had intelligence)).
So...my question is this: when you cast COUNTERSPELL..what does other player "see"? Because the person seemed shocked that their meteor showers/implosion weren't doing a damn thing? Does it appear that Jhora just "waited"? Or does it say "Jhora casts counterspell" to the opponent? If they see counter spell coming...why not just manually attack or something?
Also -- would counterspell work against barbarians?
...I guess that is more than one question

Jhora just casts something with no effect at all when using Counterspell, but the combat log at the bottom does say Jhora used Counterspell I think. You opponent didn't pay attention then.

I tested. Counterspell shows up greyed out against barbarian heroes. So no.

Looking for a map
I'm looking for a 8-player multiplayer map that has an underground level, all types of terrain and (what is nowadays the rarest thing in Ashan) some water which is larger than a lake  Can you help me please?

I am sorry for offtopic, but I just want to know how I can convert a city?
e.g. A dungeon-city into a necro-city!
btw I play the normal version of Heroes of Might and Magic V and have no patches!
please help!

but I have read in a german Forum of HoMM V that in the campaign 3.3 you have to convert the magic cities into necros!
btw I have got the german version! is this different?

That's a scripted event that happens only in the campaign. There you have to bring staff of netherworld to academy towns to convert them to necro but you won't see this work outside c3m3.

was wondering how to dl original h5 campaigns to play with toe. i followed the link from the 1st post in this thread but i cant play them when i start toe. can someone plz give me step by step directions or a link to some directions.
also, im a newly registered user on the boards and was wondering is there a search function for these boards?

After you placed those downloaded campaigns in the Maps folder you'll be able to play them as single player missions so you'll have to go to Custom Game and not Campaign.

Q: How does confusion spell works on succubus's return fire? Assuming the effect is 50% and target is in range, does succubus deal 50%x50%=25%, or just 50% damage?

Being something of a perfectionist, does anyone know what the upper level limit is on the 4th Scenario of the Inferno Campaign? I'm trying to delay using the Tree of Knowledge (can't remember the HoMM 5 name for it) until it makes the most difference, but I'm starting to loose patience as well.

if you are talking about the map called the ship, then the level cap is 30.

Hi. Lots of people have posted replays on this forum. I wanna see them, so I download a .sav file, but I don't know how to play it. Should I use vlc player? I tried it, but it treated the file as a sound file, and when I pressed play nothing happened.
How do I view them? I really wanna see
