Well I mean, one could argue that some hero is better than Deleb obviously, my point was that it makes little sense to say that Deleb is the best and makes Inferno works, yet Inferno should work without Deleb.
I understand that it's unusual (and not elegant) that some faction needs exactly one hero to work, but if that's the case there is no reason at all to use another hero.
In fact the only reason to avoid Deleb is that ypu find someone else better. Though I must say I quite disagree that Grok is better.

Well in a Deleb vs. Grok battle, it is very possible that Deleb would win, but overall Grok is more useful. My strategy is to use Deleb as my main army hero, and Grok as my scouting/creeping hero.

Of course they don't! Demon troops gate so the gated stacks take most of the blow instead of the main force, therefor less loses.
To true. inferno without gating is like necro without necromancy or stronghold without bloodrage, a creature that will soon die because someone ripped it heart out of its chest.

not really a mistake, we're just stupid and not looking at the big picture, look at the stats of all multiplayer inferno characters, and keep an open mind.
Alastor for example, his bonus kills mana with confusion which put victory out of reach when against warlock.
deleb, perfect for early creeping and base defence later in the game.
grawl, perfect with hellhounds, one of the main chargers in inferno.
grok, all over deadly. free teleport, check; starts off faster than the rest, check; in only six levels away from teleport assault,check and nuff said.
jezebeth, boosted succubi+, free access to third circle spells+.
marbas, defence?!? crazy, true but helpful cosidering the free magic resistance bonus and inferno's lack of defensive ability.
nibros, free luckpoint and starts with tactics, which is good,plus the enemy can't use tactics (perfect against another tactics user).
nymus, icrease to gated creature count+, a 15% magic resistance along with luck, big plus!!!
so, at long last i have finished, any questions or complaints???

You are mistaken, unless any of them get warmachines fast enough in a typical week 4 map they are likely toast against Deleb. Also Alastor's special works only on units and teleport assault is not as useful as you'd think. Finally Nival has no clue what big picture means.

In terms of special no but I'd say that coupled with higher chance to get logistics/flaming and better stats she can be a faster and more efficient creeper.

Teleport assault may not be the big kablooie, but hey, its better than nothing, right? Grok overall is more versatile I think, being faster in the adventrue map and being able to teleport his homies around the battlefield.

why is it that merny gets it and ekvin's clueless?contrary to her description, deleb is not the meat grinder, and against caster units like the noob-as-hell archmage, alastor kicks ass! and grok+teleporting units like say the leaper or the pitspawn=devestation!!!!

Actually Deleb is weak in longer maps due to machines and special but maps beyond week 5 are usually boring
