Fire Warriors?! How many skill points do you need for that - 11, 12, 13? It won't matter much by the time you got it anyway. You'll have Expert Light and Expert Summoning.
Quote:

That's why you need it early..  and summoning with right spells vs AI will matter one way or another, don't worry about that

That requires lvl 13 if you get all the correct lvl-ups and the outcome is pathetic. I have tested it and it's not as appealing as it sounds.

Ossir is good all rounder and creeper, but in the late game, ylthin seems a much better choice especially if there are any level 5
dwellings around. Her unicorns can easily be a match against haven's paladins or kill much of dungeon's deep hydras on the swift attack. They're almost always the game winners
Wyngaal is banned in toh games nowadays , but if not.. he is surely the best hero. Recent game i had.. i was ossir versus level 21 wyngaal, emerald dragons of wyngaal get 2 turns before ossir's emerald dragons, both had no initiative artifacts  Imagine the damage !!
Let not also forget wyngaal can almost taken on the druid elders and archmages we all hate so much without resurrection since his hunters are almost guaranted to shoot first after level 10

Unicorns versus nightmares is interesting really.. But as inferno, I rather bang on the emeralds, letting them fly over for the spray attack on sucbuss is disastrous it seems

Treants are useful against paladins, but i tried lately in a game though.. the moment i touched the throng of paladins in a month 2 fight, almost all of them died No time to take roots lol
Saving all the money for emeralds and unicorns might seem a better choice ?

So far.. Attack, englightment, light, logs and luck seems the best choice for a sylvan hero.
Of course, rush maps wise... war machine over attack is best
But only 2% chance

I didn't notice fire resistance requirement. Sorry, I thought that only 5 level ups are needed to reach it.. In that case fire warriors are just bad and will be a wasted slot for sure.

I creep early by splitting a bunch of sprites into very small stacks (since minimum dmg for wasp swarm is 12, even if just 1 sprite) and war dancers.

Then, as I get treants, I transition to ONLY using the treants to creep (unless fighting druids) with a tent.

I did discover a TOTALLY awesome creeping strat with dungeon and sylvan troops.  Treants and hydra creeping together.  The treants root the enemy, the enemy shooters hit hydra.  You can attack rooted creatures with hydra and then back them up to regenerate a couple of rounds while the tent keeps healing the treants.  Meanwhile, the hero is shooting/casting down the enemy.

You can creep almost anything and not loose a single unit!  I happened across this by luck because I found a high level recruiting building that had deep hydra in it.  Can't rely on this strat obviously, but it sure was a fun combo!

You can't really have the Sylvan town unless you're in with a good supply of wood. The elves are pretty much humanoid termites.

Agreed.

Wyngaal should be banned as he's buggy, the initiative increase should not be that high according to the description of the bonus.

With that bug, he's the most powerful sylvan hero.

I hate him the most, because i often play with inferno, and when the enemy hero is wyngaal, better leave the game, inferno has crappy defense even with booster (maletto tower, etc) and with artifact, even if inferno already has good defence, what can it do againts all unit attack from wyngaal without inferno has a time to react and counter. It's not only inferno, all factions vs wyngaal is very hard, especially those with crappy defence, more especially is those with crappy defence and initiative.

Yeah, againts paladin, emerald and unicorn is the best choice, especially emerald, but treant is necessary for defend. Master hunter is a joke vs human opponent, of course it's not a joke if your hunter act before they're all doomed (doomed by killed, by destructive, etc)

Attack perk also has 2% chance. I think the choice of war machine and atk depends on your other skills, if you're going destructive then it's better with war machine, if you're going light, it's better with attack. And i agree, enlightment is very good to have, especially with destructive sylvan. Luck is a must, logistic is optional, but i never like slow moving heroes.

Actually i noticed though, whenever i build treants and learn skill defence, they lose
I normally play 2 town maps most of time though, so income is around 6-8k + external dwellings, its almost impossible to build up and buy the troops from 2 full towns

As for the paladins, just make sure they never joust. You can have sprites and war dancers, to do that for you. But easier said than done really sad to say. But example... 20 emeralds, 80 unicorns versus 80 paladins, i would say with f.enemy and luck triggered from the dragons, they can kill around 20-40,and of course a free bang from the ponies with no retaliation. Don't tell me 20 angels, if they spend so much to train paladins, only 8-10 angels at most
Unless a map with endless gold mines is played, haven is not unbeatable even in late game

"Tactics" seems a very important skill for them i noticed when u learn attack. And again wyngaal has it as start skill, he's crazy

I agree.

If their paladin has no chance to joust at their full number, they're not that good, and like what you said, if they focus so much to paladin, the number of their angels will be less than sylvan emerald dragons.

Haven true strength is not their paladins, it's their economy, if they're poor enough, they're not that good.

For wyngaal, i have no comment, he is the most imba hero now, of all factions, like klaus long time ago.

Beyond Creeping

I've got some ideas on early creeping with Sylvan, but how do they break through and kill large nubers of powerful neutrals with minimal loses (40 Titans/ ArchDevils...)  It's easy with a small amount of troops for factions with summoning magic (phoenix) or Dark Magic (raise dead, puppetmaster, blind).  I've now read that its even possible with powerful destructive magic + several small creature stacks.  The Haven uses all its troops and resurrects some or puts marksman in corner and guards with small stacks of troops.  I quess Sylvan must do it similar to Haven, but I'm curious if there are Sylvan specific techiniques for taking down the monter stacks.

I know none of that technique. Sylvan is harder than inferno to take down 40 lv 7, inferno is better, for inferno, the only problem are  black dragon and magma dragon, other than those two, inferno can bring small stacks + dark magic for the rest of lv 7.

Let's analyze something, sylvan affinity are light magic and destructive, light magic is all about troops, destructive is not always about troops, but sylvan spellpower is not enough even with enlightment, however triple imbued balista + deadeye shot + imbue arrow maybe the only technique. But there is only very small chance.

Rooting the level 7 with treants may become another way, but treants + all master hunters + all elder druid is needed, and that is not small stacks, also treants initiative is too low to root the level 7, but can be covered with light magic, also, sylvan need tactic perk to do this.

So, not all factions are destined to have this technique, this game will be very boring if all faction have many similarities. Balanced doesn't mean to be the same in all aspects.

6 sprites and hunters will do the job nicely
I think you're referring to battle for honor?
Ossir's 93 hunter managed to take down the devils, the trick lies on using the sprites to stand on top of the dead devils to prevent summoning pitlords Raise dead spell would do fine, without resurrection. Or if you have high attack and mass haste, also easy fight with them

One technique that I used on the map 'let's fight' (I think) which has many groups of 2x2 powerful neutrals i.e. devils, champions etc. was a sylvan exploit.

I had expert light magic, got ressurection and was able to creep successfully with just (Ancient)treants and hunters.  Hunters go in the corner, Ancient treants defend (if they are ancient they have unlimited retaliation) ressurection takes care of losses.  I couldn't beat the map until I employed this strategy/abuse.

It's similar to that video of the fellow with puppet master beating 300 devils with only 1 unit.

Seriously, try and play the maps some people are talking about to gain some experience instead of doing theorycrafting
