Hey,
I went to my brother's comp and there is no PATCHW32.dll there.
Here is the list:
- Data folder
- Games folder
- Help folder
- Maps folder
-EDITOR2W.exe
- DeIsL1.isu
- MSS32.dll
- HEROES2W.exe
- README.txt
- SMACKW32.dll
- UPTODATE.exe
That's it, couldnt find any PATCH32.dll
Edit: Heroes 3 works on my laptop with no problems at all.

The patch32.dll comes with the patch itself. Just try the link I posted, and download the packed file. Unzip the files into your main H2 directory and run the patch there. (You have to doubleclick the "runme.bat" file to start the patch, do NOT doubleclick the "patch.exe" file.)

I followed your instructions but unfortunately nothing has changed, however now there is simply no info about what caused the crash.
"A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available"
Now what ?

Hi,
I just came back from a friend's house (he likes homm2 also) and apparently he got Vista Basic as well but unlike me he has the original disc of homm2: the succession wars and he's still suffering from the same problem that I do as well.
So I guess it has nothing to do with the originality of the disk.

Yeah I want to play HOMM 2 too  But cant since im on vista damn

solution that worked 4 me
Hi,i have win7. For my homm 2 gold only this patch worked: http://dlh.net/cgi-bin/patdl.cgi?lang=ger&sys=pc&file=h2w10_13.zip
Although it's for original 'Succession wars' game, it works fine http://heroescommunity.com/images/icons/icon10.gif, only still have problem changing to cd audio during gameplay.

The Gold edition doesn't need further patches.
@Gnu: FYI, H2 Gold runs fine on Win7 for me, in Win98 compatibility mode, with admin privileges. Once I even got Succession Wars to start, but that was much more complicated, and I no longer remember all the specifics.

Hmm. I didn't read any posts in this thread. So maybe i just repeat one of you!
But i remember back when i had Vista Home Premium 64 bit.
I used Dosbox to play Heroes I.
I used a Virtual Windows XP to play Heroes II & Heroes IV.
And Heroes III and Heroes V worked on Vista..
And i guess you can do it with Windows 7 too ;p
