And you tried this?
How can i change it ?

Right-click on the file, select "properties" from the menu that pops up (it's usually at the very bottom of that menu) and another window will open. At the bottom of that window you will find several options, including a "Read-only" option, which is check-marked. Remove the check-mark and you will be able to edit the file.

No properties? What do you see when you right-click such a file then?

So can you edit the files or not? And did you save the changes to the files?
Once you've saved the files, did you pack them up into a mod that the game can use?

I'm really confused, I don't understand what you're doing wrong.
It should be so simple:
- Unpack the data.pak file, using WinRAR
- Locate the correct file(s) in the unpacked directories
- Check the properties of the file(s) and remove the "read-only" tag
- Edit the file(s) using any text editor and save
- Wrap up the edited files into a mod file with a .h5u extension
At which step do you fail? A little bit more description and detail would help a lot.

you should hold shift, then rightclick the xdb file, and tell your PC to open the file with notepad. Or, isn't that the problem?

Did you actually *unpack* the data.pak file? From what you write, I think you're trying to edit the file directly in the data.pak file. Then I understand why you can't figure it out, lol .
Editing directly in the data.pak file doesn't work for TotE. You really need to extract all files from it.

You might just want to make a copy of the file, and then rename it to .zip. That's what I did, and my install of WinRAR unpacked it just fine.

Ok. So either am i completly blind, or the DDScv does not convert bmp to dds. It simply pops up screen demanding dds file, and then asks where to save the other format.
Nothing about the other way

Open it, click the .bmp file, hit okay, and the next screen is where you decide what to convert it too.
I don't advise .bmp by the way, the program has trouble with it. All the others are fine.

I always use .bmps and it works fine for me, but .tga normally seems better.

I am really not an idiot.
The problem is the program does not have any option to SEE any other extensions. And Yes, have tried changing the default bmp opening program to DDScv, and it simply crashes.
