Nice quote I think you are right on this one.
The US, especially the government, has always been more concerned by leftist, then by the radical right, even thought the far right has a far bigger influence in the states. Take the Clan for example.
The modern Clan, or better said Clans, since today many different clans exist are a huge mix of different far-right tendencies(some of them being a US specialities like anti-catholicism for example) and many include neo-Nazi thoughts and are closely linked to the neo-Nazi scene.
Also, some of the most prominent neo-Nazi figures came from the US. People like George Lincoln Rockwell, William Luther Pierce or David Lane were all American.
And if you feel that this is a thing 30 years past, take Timothy MacVeigh, who was heavily influenced by the Turner Diaries, is a great example.
Also the number of killed police officers by far-right "activists" has been rising in the last 10 years. I'll fill in the official statistics once I get home, but I think that in the last 15 years it has been at about 50.
The fact that "no one takes them seriously", as you state, doesn't make them harmless.
But tis another subject.

This is a game with the words. I guess a mistake on my part for not stating clearly what I meant. Under the word "Bolsheviks" I did not mean ordinary people who joined and/or followed the party, believing it was the right way.
I talking about the leaders of the movement, people like Lenin, Stalin or Trotsky who rank high up there with Mussolini, Hitler or Franco in my opinion.
I would not talk about the "normal" or "common" people who followed the Bolshevik doctrine. First of all for many of those living in the Soviet Union it was a big change for the better after the Tsarist regime and really saw the Bolshevik way as a way to a better future.
As to the murders and working camps deportations, imprisonments. Most of these were done in secret and only a few people knew the whole extent of it. In the case of the Stalinist atrocities, it is believed that only Stalin knew the whole extent and Khrushchev's revelation of Stalins actions came really as a surprise.
Also you have to understand that 99 people out of the USSR, including members and sympathizers of Bolshevik movements in other parts of Europe and the world only saw what the Bolshevik leaders wanted them to. And that was a working system of equality, literacy, electricity and happy people working for a better tomorrow.
The 20's, 30's, 40's and 50's were a very "funny" time for Europe especially.

The difference between Voldermort's followers and many Bolsheviks was that the Death Eaters knew of the all killings, tortures and almost everything that he did. While most of the people in the USSR and Europe saw only what they could and those were the positive aspects of the Bolshevik tyranny, better said: 'the better things that the Bolshevik rule brought.' As the use of tyranny and positive in one sentence is quite, well weird at least.
All I am saying is that you also have to look and try to answer the question WHY? someone followed or did something. The situation was very complex.
Then again there were many power-hungry, opportunistic people who saw the new regime as a great way as to "climb up the ladder"

Thats not entirely true. Meny of the people stalin removed,like "Chekists" a nickname for the secrat police that came before the KGB. Stalin ears and eyes around the people. Most Knew how bad it was,but the point is that poor people stayed poor,but liked it,while rich people got richer,and liked it too,stalin got powerfull either way.
but noted that 95% high heads in the secrat police ware removed once in awhile,just to be safe.
Voldermort also removed some of hes personall staff..
