Teen bodybuilding? Yes!

Hello everyone.
I'm a teenager and I started bodybuilding almost a year ago. I was weak, but now I feel extremely fit. Do you want the same? Find out how:

How to start?
If you decided to take up this sport, you'll have to do many things before you start. First, It's perhaps the best to learn patience, as this sport requires a lot of it. Your body won't change from the first day to the other. Secondly, it is very important to decide what parts of your body do you want to improve. It is highly recommended however to train your entire body. When you got these, you can start learning the names and the method of the exercises. For one body part, you'll have to know 2-3-4 different exercises (depending on body part).

I know the exercises already. What to do now?
If you've learned everything you need, you'll have to create a workout method. For example:
Monday-biceps,triceps
Tuesday:back,legs etc.
Don't forget to put one or two, or even three offtime days, when you don't workout at all. In bodybuilding, resting takes about 20% importance.

I have a method. What now?
Now, you can go to the gym. The most important thing is to learn the followings there:
-Working out must not be continous. When you are tired, take 1 minute of rest, than restart. Repeating this 2-4 times is what we call "series". You'll have to do about 3 different series per bodypart.
-If you are tired, don't continue, or you'll be injured.
-Don't forget to warm up before the exercises. Gymnastics are perfect for this, or you can do the exercises with less weight than normally.
-It is important to practise the exercises. Make sure you do them well!

OK. Next step?
On the first week, you will have to do 2 series per exercise to make sure you know it well. When the first week is over, you can do 3 series/exercise. The second week is however about the weights. You have to set them. Mainly, you have to lift them 6-10 times/series. If you can do more, increase the weight, and if you can't do it, decrease the weight. If you've set everything, you can begin the serious bodybiulding.

Week 3, the begining of training
Now, you'll have to do 4 series/exercise, with one minute rest between them. Follow your method, and keep training. If you "gained a level" increase the weight.

Points to remember
-It is recommended to find a training partner to keep each other motivated and help each other with heavy weights to aviod injury.
-About 1.5 hours per day, and 4 days mer week is enough. DON'T OVERTRAIN YOURSELF! It's the biggest mistake you can do!
-Don't miss training days! If you can't go to the gym on friday for example, go on saturday.
-If you can't remember your method or the exercises' order (just like me), write them into an exercise book, which you can bring to all your trainings.
-In the first 6 month, your body will change dramatically. Then, it is hard to achieve the next level

Other things needed for a successful bodybuilding method
There's one more thing you'll have to pay attention to: The nutrition. It is not strict, like the diet, but advisable to keep. You must eat very much protein. Milk, eggs, chinken mainly. It is the brick of your muscles. If you don't take it, it's similar to a consruction site without stone bricks. The second most important thing is the energy. Energy can be found in everything, so i won't give details. And the third are the vitamins, so eat much vegetables and fruits.
Eat 5 times a day. You don't have to eat as much as normal, but more times a day.
If you don!t like some of these, you can buy supplements. WARNING!: Ask a personal trainer about supplements! they can be dangerous if used unproperly. But for a perfect nutrition, you don't really need them. I don't use them either.
Sleep at least 8 hours a day! It is as important as correct nutrition. Your body needs recovery time. If you don't sleep enough, you can be overtrained more easily.

Is this tip just for teens or for grown ups also?

I weigh about 74 kilos and I use weights of 10 kilos each, is it enough?

My everyday job sometime requires a lot of physical effort can I train even after a work day?

10 kilos each is very heavy. Do it carefully or use less heavy ones.
When you do an exercise like that, the arm's muscles puff up, and it takes them a several hours to get back to their original size. If your work has relation to those muscles, and you do those exercises after your work, the exercises won't work well like the usual.

hahaha awesome! body building. well i dont wanna be buff. dont look too good on girls. But i work out and stuff... weights etc...
i weigh 57kg and im 176cm tall. im not fat or anything... just curvey lol
buuuuuuuuuuut... i heard from sum1 that if u have body faaaaaaaaaat that wen u start wprling out that fat turns into muscle? hmm thats been bugging me coz i dont want my body fat to turn into muscle lol.

Body fat can't turn to muscle.

You can lose fat and you can gain muscle, and if you are working on body building this can happen at the same time.

Fitness work for example will burn fat easily but is not as good at building muscle mass.

Yes, your fat cells don't become muscle cells.  They just shrink.  To any through workout you might want to add a work out in water.  Swimming is one of the more through full body workouts, and is lower impact then a lot of workouts.  It's also more enjoyable imo.

Swimming is good conditioning, like jogging or cross country but less stress on joints and works a lot more muscles (arms/back)

My wife is a Physical Therapist. Swimming is used for rehabilitating patients that require less gravity and need a decent cardio workout. Swimming is said to affect around 95% of a person's body's muscles. Swimming is not recommended for athletes or bodybuilders who are seeking to increase their muscle size. Swimming is an exercise that mainly burns calories, increases muscle tone, and greatly helps increase cardiac endurance. In women swimming actually causes a very small degree of fat buildup. Because the human body is so amazing and able to adapt, and because women's bodies are naturally meant to store fat for child bearing, women who are looking to get a good muscle tone and very low fat % for body index are recommended to try other means of cardiac exercise such as cycling, jumping rope, or aerobic-designed walking machines. Swimming for men simply strengthens cardiac endurance and overall body muscle tone. That means that for men, your muscles will not grow like a bodybuilder or American football player. In fact it will simply burn the fat and lengthen endurance while providing an exceptional heart of iron.

In fact swimming is a combined type of bodybuilding, but not as intensive. By swimming, all your muscles work at once, but it can't be use to increase your muscles' weight, like in bodybuilding...

Just a safety tip on swimming.

Start out slowly. I'm somewhat speculating on this, but it has similarities to gymnastics which I know about. In swimming and gymnastics both, the stresses on the joints are opposite to what you normally get in day-to-day activities and even most sports.

Another way of looking at it is pulling at a joint vs compression of a joint. Most, but not all, daily activities compress joints, not extend joints. the compression and extension of the joints are both important to its health.

Then there are the muscles themselves. MUCH of the problems people have with joints is due to unbalanced muscle groups. Opposing muscles want to be in balance. That doesn't mean equal in strength, but properly balanced. Many bad backs can be helped by strengthening the abdominal muscles. And many bad knees can be helped by strengthening the quadriceps.

So with any exorcise it's good to look at the stresses on the joints and weather it's a compression or "pulling" stress. Just because the muscles are capable of doing something doesn't mean the joints can handle it.

Nice post, however I would disagree with the advice. What sport does make you grow like a body builder? Maybe weightlifting but apart from that the majority of muscle mass gained isn't actually from playing a sport, it's from working out in the gym, which can be additional to a sport or by itself.

So while swimming may not help in putting on muscle mass it will increase your overall fitness and can be used in conjunction to gym.

Unfortunately it's so time consuming hat I find it hard to get to the gym as I swim about 7 times a week.

Swimming can also help you tone your muscles. While you don't get bulky it can be used as a part of a warmup routine also.  Even a 15 minute swimming routine can help keep the muscles limber when doing more bulkbuilding routines.  This cuts down on cramps, reduces the chance of damaging your muscles (doesn't prevent it, just cuts the chance down slightly) also.  So swimming can be used even as part of a bulk building routine.
