GAMES REPORTED: 3004

3K GAMES in H5 and the game become really good in 3.0 version. Congratulation everyone.

But there's always something for improve, now the biggest problem for me is the game speed. Almost noone in TOH best players play with time limit and dinamic battle. One game = 20-30-40 hours  It is too much and TOH is not able to include "fast players". Maybe all "old dogs" must start to play fast games. The games will become dynamic.

OMG... insane One game 20-30-40 hours).... My games Usually takes from 3-5 hours  (I got a few one's who last for 8+ hours but I don't like that....!!
I'll never play against player who plays one game (map) for +8 hours!!) period...

Hehe, If the right huge map comes up, I am sure I can make you take those words back But yeah, a game of 20-40 hours means that the final battle never is final, and that I find increadibly annoying. I prefer, like we have Fiur, a final battle, with the mains, and the winner of that battle wins. Period. Then you`ll (almost) never have games of 10 hs +

Who is playing 20-40 hours?

All my games take between 5 and 7 hours.  I'll be playing this week again.

I agree though, I wish the game ran smoother and faster, but the sim turns is nice.

h3 z popalaur
cause it was the right game the right moment, online gaming trend was in its lustful begginings, worldwide, including forum spams as homm community backup

h3 z popalaur
cause majority of its playing crowd was young back then
cause has the greatest fictional-dreamy graphics/aesthetics
cause was very simple game
cause 1/3 players was cheater or abuser in general, producing a wave of reactions-talks, which equals to life-alive

h3 z popalaur
cause vinyl disc of homm3heads has stuck repeating same old verse allover again and again and again and again

So then why did you ignore my post where I said that 5-7 hours is the normal time for an H5 game also?

Obviously map size is also a factor.

Edit: timed turns doesn't automatically mean a shorter game and it is much worse gameplay.

I know only 1 map (http://www.maps4heroes.com/heroes5/maps/a_dance_for_two_19.zip)where is possible 20-30h-40h in OLD version h5-1.3..but after simulate turn come ....its will end for less 10-12h too. In TOH page not 1 map where you need over 10h play(if your oponent play realy slow)...and most you can end for 4-6h.

I think valentin is referring to playing random maps... In the latest game me and him are playing... he knew he was gonna lose, so he chose to run and hide on map until week of the harpooner came and he could then run around map and collect 1000 harpooners so he could win the game.  I dont blame him for doing what he needed to to win... but that made the game last 3 times longer then normal. So not sure why he complaining about long games, when he is guilty of making them long

As for 5-7 hour games... Those are really only possible if you play little fast rush maps, where hero development is easy and fast to acheive, based on the way map was designed.

Some people like them spoon feed ya maps..that develop your hero in 2 weeks and then you can fight... To each there own.. I personally prefer maps that you have to work a bit harder to develop your hero. Which as a result means longer games.  But I also dont care about having to save and finish in a couple sittings if it means I get a good quality game....  if I wanted a fast 2 hours rush game, I would play starcraft or warcraft and do the zergling rush 45 secs into the game, and go report lol

So people are into the games for the end result and to report as fast and as many times as possible, I personally am in it for the experience and the joy of an indepth game. But as I said to each there own...  Just as Fiur stated.... he wouldnt play anyone that wanted an 8hour+ game... I am same way except I wont play anyone who only wants the 4 hour week 3 rush game.

Me too. I play only random maps (on H3/TE) and i don't like rush games with meeting week 1. I prefer to develop my hero up to level 15-21. That's comes at week3-4. By that time i should make maybe 60 battles (3-4 per turn), open few Hives/Conservatories, take Utopias/Libraries, open at least 40% of XL map (no underground, DD/Fly banned). That's fun...and it's possible to finish such game in 4-6 hours (with 6 minutes/turn limit on SOD or 3000+400 chess-timer on TE).

In heroes 3 yes thats possible since you are able to use a turn timer.  But with Heroes 5 retarded timer running during battles, you are unable to use a turn timer.  If they made timer not run during battles like in heroes 3, then heroes 5 players could start using turn timers again and that would speed things up.

Well I certainly wouldn't accuse myself of trying to report as many games as possible.

Real life time is scarce so I play smaller maps.  I'm just saying those don't take that long even if I have to do them by saving and returning.

I personally don't understand the appeal of random maps but maybe I should try them out more.

I mean either you know exactly what the template will do so it isn't actually random or it's completely random and therefore poorly designed.

Hey Guys,

I am sure you all have noted this, but a buddy and I (both have fast connections) have noticed that the send times between turns often take time.  One instance, both of us timed it and we clicked end turn at same time and it took three minutes for the game to get to the next day where we could move.  So that could be part of the problem with the long games.  Have any of you timed the send from the point where you both say "ok, end turn and time it"?  Of course it helps if you, like I do, have skype and can talk real time to the other player.

It can take long ,usually it don't , If it takes long usually its a matter of a slow computer - the autosave is what slows it down , The autosave really works slow on slow computers.

I don't think a timer is a good idea(I mean the kind of timer that goes on in battles). Last game i had like a 30 mins move playing MoD simply because i had a lot of long lasting fights and my comp is really slow on that map(one of my favourites though ). Having a timer would make that imposible.
For long lasting games I use save/reload. I don't agree with the idea of reducing the game to growing a main hero and then fighting ur opponent(I mean this can be solved single player + a multiplayer duel - why lose 5 hours creeping?) Heroes is much more then this...
