Bigjocker's creature changing tutorial
Ok...Now about pallete changing.
Best way to do it is with Photoshop. I use 7.0 version.
I will show you how to recolor an original monster remaining good palette.
Let's say we want to recolor Basilisk from green to red.
I. This way is the best and easy enough, but you must have Photoshop.
First open Basilisk's frame with Photoshop and zoom it to better see colors (I deleted shadow of it with Paint, but there's a tool for that, don't remember the name, I have it somewhere on CD)
Now push the option as shown on a picture.
Now you will get something like this. Let's choose greens.
Now let's change Hue and Saturation of it.:
As you can see we don't have red Basilisk yet. So it seems that we have to Hue/Saturate yellow color too. Let's do it:
As you can see we still have some green/red spot so we will manualy recolor it(but we must zoom enough and put new dark red color on every green/yellow pixel).:
So here's what we get:
Everything would be great but now it surely has bad palette. Let's see differences. We only care about first ten colors of the palette.
Firs one is our new palette and the second one is the old palette. You may see the differences for sure. To open/change palette you must choose an options showed in the picture below:
You will get something like this:
And as I said we only care about first ten palette colors (I highlighted them on the picture above).
The codes of them are these(in sequence):
00FFFF
FF96FF
FF64FF
FF32FF
FF00FF
FFFF00
B400FF
00FF00
FF80FF
FF80FF
So all you have to do is to push on each of ten colors and change the code of them:
After changing you will get such palette:
Now just push OK and save picture with the parameters with which photoshop offers. And do it with each frame just remember the numbers of hue/saturation or save presets to your PC and load it with each frame(as you can see there's LOAD and SAVE buttons).
So that's it. I will write next part later today or tomorrow.

II. Now I will say how to apply the same palette to all your frames.
First you must save at least one frame with the palette you want. If you have, just open that frame with Photoshop and open that frame's palette as I showed somewhere above. As an example I will use Basilisk again. So you will see something like this:
As you can see there's LOAD and SAVE buttons. So just press SAVE and save the palette to any place on your PC. After that open the frame with the bad palette, open it's palette window and press LOAD, find your new palette and open it and press OK. That's all. It's easy as hell.

So if I had recolored each pixel as I wanted ... it would have turned out that way on each frame if I loaded and saved? (I am not used to photoshop a total noob...)

No, you are wrong. Because painting on a picture does not change it's palette because you can't use other colors which aren't in creature's palette.

You mean each frame? YES. If you are making new creature you are forced to do it anyway. If it only recoloring, it's easy to change each frame as I explained.

As i said, better not to change to rgb. But in your case you should change first ten palette colos to normal at first. After that zoom your picture,it will be ruined,so you will have to paint manually on bad pixels using only colos which you see on your creature (but not those which are first ten in the palette). Thats all. Not easy, but this is the way.

A red basilisk works good enough ingame... it's actually pretty easy to make a recolored creature, and I just thought of how to make it even cooler *waiting to get computer so I can try it*
