Why? Why is it insulting?
Because they're basically calling you a great cook, envy your style, wish they were as well groomed as you are, admire your hairdo, want to be as smooth as you with the ladies, are jealous of the fact that you can get into clubs with really good music and take your shirt out without being a poser and are convinced that you're a born interior designer?
Well... there are far worse things to be called than being called gay if you ask me .

If anyone calls me gay as in homosexual I'll show them just how much of a man I am by not giving in to their stupid insults. Because a person who resorts to such insults usually isn't worth my time.

Because the concept of manhood is constituted like how virginity was to women in the past: Once it's gone, you can't get it back. Calling a straight man gay is like accusing a woman of adultery in the 19th century.

or accusing a woman of adultery in the 21st century. there's still a huge stigma associated with being "too loose" for women that isn't anywhere in men.
but yes, most men treat gay as an insult because its about questioning masculinity, to which, I provide the following.

Yes, it's wrong. To me at least. Even with boy and girl couples, they shouldn't show off in public.
Maybe it's just the angst talking but now this is my stance on the matter. Romantic life should be more private.
