HoMM II

I've been fondly remembering the few games of HoMM II I played. Ironically enough, it was after playing HoMM III. In fact, I've been inspired to pick up a copy. I especially want to play that map where you have a barbarian and warlock, and 1 year to defeat the massive undead army. I also want to play around with the Phoenix and the unstoppable Black Dragon.

More than anything, though, I remember HoMM II having even more humor than III, humor which, unfortunately, seems to have disappeared with Nival's taking over of the series.

Feel free to reminesce with me! As for me, when I get it, straight to the scenarios for me, they were even more fun than the III ones.

Maybe you should get Heroes I. The game where Dragons were ... Dragons. Real Dragons, not just black birdies

Well, I didn't see one. My apologies if this is a repeat.

And yes, I loved the HoMM II dragons, and thought they looked excellent. However, they come in second to the phoenix in beauty, IMO.

I still play it occasionally. But for someone who started with H2/H3 the old magic system probably is very annoying. I like it, it's ... unique

@H2 I really disliked the secondary skill system there. Building up a main hero, and then beeing offered only useless secondary skill was much more common in H2, than in H3. Also, I never could remember which powerups I had visited with which hero.

I actually like the Spell System for HOMM II. I find it easy to use, and I like the spells that they had.

I also like the Graphics for the game, and I actually like HOMM II more than HOMM III.

First of all i agree with Heymlich to H3 Secondary Skills more useful than H2

But i first played H2 many years ago and i like too much. I think H2 Spell system and battles hard
than H3 and i loved H2 for the game spirit.

I still play H2 but H3 is great too and i still H3 too)

Go for it! It's relaxing to play old classics once in a while. The resolution could be better but the game really looks and sounds nice. Only what i bit miss in the battles is the wait button

Hmmm... are we just talking about Homm III, II and I here? No V and IV included? actually that's fair, i see. since Homm V's graphic outmatch too much by the amazing 3D advantage. Well, I think that the graphic of Homm III is still better, such as the action of flying, retreating, defending, and attacking are much more... well... connected together while the previous 2 versions need to work on the quality of animation much more. But the structure of the game started and got really improved on is Homm II, two more races are being brought it: the most importantly the UNDEAD which much improved the game's fun and storyline. I found that i'll have to go back to those classicals after playing IV and V too much.

*shh...* don't tell this to anybody... I actually think that the graphic in Homm I is better than II becuz of the big headed red phoenix and purplish dragon looks much more... hahaha... hilarious.
