Just joking that Mina was likely to murder Pellena... or Pellena was likely to blow herself up somehow, because the gym leader is terrible at cooking Poffins.

You're thinking of Pokeblocks (though they perform the same purpose); Poffin are more like buns or rolls (...which are also made of nothing but fruit).

Pokemon DO eat the Berries...they just don't get the same boosts from those. If you want a reason for why they don't eat Berries exclusively, well...why do humans eat pie when plain apples or strawberries are available?

Hey guys,
Sorry for not having responded in over a month. I've been in and out of the hospital throughout August after suffering from a stomach infection. This also meant I was kept away from work and my work computer, which is where I had HC open, which is how I remember to check in with it.
Today I am back at work, and I'll see if I get the time to read through the thread and post something within the day. Or if not, try to remember to open HC back at home.

In the wild don't Pokemon exclusively eat Berries? And when caught by a trainer they get the dry-food equivalent of it? Like Pokekibble or something like that? Do Pokemon even need to actually eat? I'm assuming Legendaries do not eat.

Definitely not, there are predatory Pokemon. What they eat normally depends on the Pokemon, but all Pokemon CAN eat Berries (even the ones with no mouths ).
Pokechow is a thing trainers feed their Pokemon yes.
Pokemon (including the Legendaries) DO need to eat, generally (there may be exceptions - I don't know if it was spelled out but I suspect the Regis, being golems, don't need eat) EX: Slakoth eats leaves. Rayquaza eats cloud mist. Drowzee feeds off dreams. Some Pokemon eat other Pokemon EX: Heatmor eat Durant.

Tbh I feel like this ruins the Legendaries somewhat. I mean they are literal embodiments of forces of nature and concepts.
I find it hard to believe that Giritina, the embodiment of antimatter, needs to eat to survive. Or that Rayquaza, the embodiement of the atmosphere, needs to feed on air. I think Legendaries do not need to eat to survive but rather, can choose to eat/drink if they want to, but they would gain no sustenance from it.
