Well, this lady was... a lot. Mark was suddenly glad he'd grabbed a third cup of coffee at lunch. "Alright, uh..." An idea started forming in his head, "Actually, does the Safari Zone connect to the coastline? And is there a lighthouse or other observation point on the coast?"

Well, hey, who knew that having an active volcano could be so useful? "I'm guessing the buildings would be pretty well fireproofed... on account of the volcano, yeah?" Mark asked, rubbing at his chin with the one arm. There were only a few other things he could think to ask, honestly. "Was there a central power station in town, or did every building basically run on its own generator? And did Bandra keep the locals around?"

While perusing the map, Pinklady sees that, indeed, there is no lighthouse near the Safari Zone – there is, however, one on the island containing Tidepath City and another on the island north of Seapoint City. ((White tower things on the map, since it occurs to me I didn’t include them in the map key for some reason.))

“Most of Helnith gets their power from Piez, darling, Quibir isn’t that big. The Contest Hall probably has a backup generator, and I’m sure the Mart does. I’m not sure about the neighbors.”
“And did Bandra keep the locals around?"
“Not enough people in Quibir to bother kicking out, darling, I left because they interfered with my work." She starts shouting. "No respect for my art! I cannot work under such conditions!” Ei flips back to conversational tones. “I believe the Incense Shop is still open but I haven’t been back in some time, darling.”

And uh, speaking of your craft, is there a certain amount of ash that you'd want us to put in these sacks, or is just stuffing them as full as we can good enough? And also, there will be at least two more of us, if you have more collection bags that we could use."

The old woman to whom the shop belongs coughs gently before Ei can answer. “When she says they ‘interfered with her work’ she means they knocked her shop down, dearie.” (Ei punctuates this with an exclamation of “No respect for my work!” and shakes her fist madly.)

“As much as you like darling!” Ei is immediately more cheerful, and just as immediately whips out another half-dozen Soot Sacks, which she foists onto Mark. ((+6 Soot Sacks for Mark, 8 total)) And then is abruptly conversational again. “But I need at least 500 grams if you want me to make you a flute, darling, 1000 grams for a fancier model.” She then rattles off an obviously well-rehearsed list of her wares and their virtues.
((Note that this is slightly different from the games:
Red Flute – cures Attract – 500 grams
Blue Flute – cures Sleep – 500 grams
Yellow Flute – cures Confusion – 500 grams
White Flute – Attracts wild Pokemon – 1000 grams
Black Flute – Repels wild Pokémon – 1000 grams
Time Flute – cures Shadowing – she can’t make these yet, you’d have to complete the side quest first! 
These have unlimited uses, provided no one goes out of their way to deliberately destroy them. They can cure multiple Pokémon at a time, although for sanity’s sake I’m going to cap that at 10 Pokémon per use.))
“And if you don’t want a flute I will buy it from you darling, 1 PD for every 10 grams.”
The old woman coughs again. “Ei dearie, didn’t you have to leave behind some of your things when you left?”
“Yes, yes! My etching tools, my glass blower – I have spares, darling, but they aren’t the same, not broken in properly and far too shiny - my sacks of color additives – my flutes will still work without them, but boring and plain. Not up to my usual standards, darling!”
