The Tale Of Gilraen

Prologue:
On a clear and radiant Morning Gilraen awoke... He got up, and moved to the balcony of Anfail Castle.
"Sylanna be praised", he said gazing up at the sky, "that she gave us such a vivid sky."
The view on the balcony was terrific indeed: Tall Redwood trees blended perfectly with the bramble hedges that surrounded Anfail as a moat. In the far distance the rivers Stin and Devos crossed eachother.
Gilraen knew that the region had knew much bloodshed; afterall, the region was a crossroad between the Holy Griffin Empire, Yggchall and Heresh, and the battles fought around here were the bloodiest and the most savage the Elves ever saw. King Alaron sended him, Gilraen, to sort out the problems and bring peace to the Crossroad, but that taks would prove to not to be as easy as Gilraen would have hoped for...

Thus endeth the Prologue of "The tale of Gilraen", the story about the most succesfull mission I ever played. I'll tell you Gilraens tale and why it was so succesfull

MAP: Warlords, but with 1 human player only (me )
HERO: Gilraen
SPECIALITY: Blade Dancers
ENEMIES: 8 total, but only met three of them

Early-Game: As Gilraen specialises in Dancers, I build the Battledance Terrace in Anfail, before the Fairy wood. I was lucky, because Ossir was in the tavern, so I started with aproximately 20 Blade Dancer and 5 Hunters. My first enemies were though tough: 25 Sprites. I Splitted the Hunters in 5 stacks, and I spit the Dancers as well. Because I split them only two hunters and a Dancer were lost. This was the most difficult battle early game. On day four the first enemy was defeated; around that time I located the Castle of the nearst rival, but returned to anfail to resupply. Shortly after that Gilraen learned Basic Dark Magic from a witch hut. I assaulted the castle of the enemy (who luckily was Necropolis) and defeated them easily. I din't upgrade the town anymore, so it contributed 2000gp a day for my treasure. At them end of month one I had every basic creature, except the Dragons. I had an enormous lack of Chrystal so I had to wait another two weeks before I had the sufficient amount of time. Dragon were dreams untill mid-game...

Mid-Game: I built the Dragon Portal in Anfail and upgraded it two days later. I barely had three Dragons or the Purple Player (who already had eliminated all the other players) invaded my territory. The Hero was Wyngaal, and had Expert Defence, Attack and Luck his army only slightly weaker than mine. At that time I had the following skills

Exp Avenger: Imbue arrow, Rain of Arrows
Exp Defence: Protection, Vitality Last Stand.
Exp Leadership: Recruitement, Estates, Battle Commander
Adv. Dark Magic:

Fav enemies were: Inquisitor, Sprite and Obsidian Gargoyle.

Wyngaals army: 40 Imp. Griffins
              45 Inquisitors
              98 Concripts
              160 Marksmen
              22 Cavaliers
              95 Squires
              7 Angels
Gilraen's Army: 156 War Dancers
               100 Master Hunters
               20 Ancient Treants
               56 Druid Elders
               3 Emerald Dragons
               174 Sprites
               56 Silver Unicorns

I sacreficed my Dragons (Due to last stand one survived ) to atract the Cavalier, before the unicorns blinded. The Druids quickly took care of the Angels, The Giffins Battle Dived the Treants, but were ensnared by them, when the latter moved. I casted Weakness of the Marksmen, the eliminated 12 War Dancers only, before those reached them. Exit Marksmen. SUe to the Druid Elders Spellwork, the Inquisitors were minimalized to a small stack. The Unicorns blinded them and moved on to the squires who they exterminated. Meanwhile the last Griffins were killed by my Treants. Only 15 Cavaliers and 5 inquisitors remained. The Unicorns blind had done its work, the Cavaliers charged the unicorns and killed 20 (with a lucky attack and Divine Strength). Unicorns retalialate and kill 5 (and blind the latter). Inqusitors strike Sprites, who retalialate and kill 4. Master Hunters (who were slowed) finish the Cavaliers off, and Gilraen finished the battle by killing the spare Inquisitor.

Lost units: 2 Dragons, 4 Treants, 30 Dancers, 35 Sprites, and 22 Unicorns

Three weeks later he invades again, with Vinrael this time.
Luckly Gilraen learned Frenzy, Confusion and Mass Vulnerability by this time.

Gilraen's skills: Same as above, but now with Exp Dark Magic and Master of Pain.
Fav. Enemies: Inquiqitor,Silver Unicorn and Colossus

Vinraels Army: 8 Colossi
              9 Emerald Dragons
              21 Druid Elders
              50 Master Hunters
              18 Ancient Treants
              18 Silver Unicorns

My Army: 206 Sprites
        159 War Dancers
        146 Master Hunters
        78 Druid Elders
        69 Silver Unicorn
        30 Ancient Treants
        7 Emerald Dragons

Vinraels Colossi and Emerald Dragons gave me a hard time. I played the battle twice, untill I had only minor, satisfactory losses.
Vinraels Dragons start the battle and kill 30 War Dancers   and 11 Hunter who stand behind them. Dancers retalialate killing none.    My Unicorns attack the Dragons, but fail to blind them (they did kill 3 of them though) Exit 19 Unicorns. Vinraels Unicorns copy and attack MY Dragons, but they DO manage to blind them. Ward Dancer and Sprites move and uning their specialities, they attack the Dragons, but in the end Weaken the Colossi severly, who were standing nearby (Colossi= Fav enemy). Gilraen Combines Imbue with Frenzy and then casts Rain of Arrows. Vinraels Unicorns are frenzied and Blind their own Treants. The Last colossus falls under Gilraens arrows. Sprites move and attack Druids. My Unicorns move and kill the Hunters. My Hunters Finish of the Dragons, whil the Dancer kill the last of Vinraels Unicorns. Now only 8 Druid and 16 Treants remain. My Treants attack Vinraels, and root them. Then My Druids finish of the Enemy Druids. Gilraen Supports the other troops, who are massively attacking the Treants by casting Vulnerability TWICE. In the end the Treants fall, but take another 20 Dancer with them. Losses aren't as dramatic as in the previous battle, but my Unicorn stack is almost halved

Two weeks later, I invade the nemies territory.
I quicky manage to  conquer an enemy Haven (I hadn't played the battle, I used Quic battle on this one, but the Computer lost around 35 Wraiths, 40 Archliches, 9 Angels, 50 Siver Unicorns and 25 Paladins, while I only lost 8 Dragons, 150 Dancers and 150 Sprites. To add up to this it was the week of Sorrow, so I was very glad with my losses. I lost all my Dragons, but could replace them by an equal amount of Archangels. Gilraen learns Corrupt Soil and Basic Light Magic after this battle.

End-Game: I manage to capture another Haven.

The enemy Army: 6 Archangels
               55 Inquisitors
               32 Paladins
               312 Conscripts
               210 Marksmen
               166 Squires
               66 Griffins
The Enemy massively attacks my Druid Elders, and I lost all my War Dancers (there were only 20, I sacreficed the last one to get my Treants enraged) I easily won the battle as the Arch Angels ressurrected 19 of my lost Druids (so I didn't lost any Druid in that battle). I frenzied the Iquistors (who were standing next to the Marksmen) Twice, and they finished of the Marksmen for me. The I copied this with the Squires who eliminated the Paladins. Hunter took Care of Griffins and Consctipts, but the heroes were the Treants, They killed 80% of the Paladins, Angels and Squires, but only 8 fell. I only lost 8 Treants, 20 Dancers and 5 Master Hunters(killed by the enemy hero's Eldritch Arrow).

How Will it end ? I don't know, I haven't finished playing yet... Currently my army is:

13 Archandgels
83 Druid Elders
157 Master Hunters
41 Siver Unicorns
19 Ancient Treants
26 Sprites (to be replaced by Inquistors) 53 Imerial Giffins
And and Empty Slot (Reserved for Blade Dancers, but will be filled with Paladins, untill I can get my hand on Dancers) 21 Paladins

These are Gilraens Skills

EXP Avenger: Imbue, Rain of Arrows, Deadeye shot
EXP Defence: Vitality, Protection, Last Stand
EXP Leadership: Recruitement, Estates, Battle Commander
EXP Dark Magic: Master Of Pain, Corrupt Soil, Shrugg Darkness
ADV Light Magic: Master Of Wrath.
Empty slot (reserved for either War Machines or Luck)
Fav Enemies: Colossus, Inquisitor and Druid Elder

If you fought more glorious battle, please share them with me. (To be honest I not that well, I'm too economically and defencively oriented and don't dare to take too many risks. Tips about what I should do next are welcome as well. I'm so good at the moment, and I really don't want to lose again.

Another Great Battle on behalf on the Great Gilraen

I attack the army of Dougal, who was about to storm my capitol.
I first Autoplayed the battle, but I lost. I tried again, but crushed Dougals army this time

Dougals army: 75 Djinn Sultans
             186 Squires
             283 Obsidian Gargoyles
             10 Titans
             80 Archmages
             240 Marksmen
             32 Rakshasa Rajas

My Army: See above, only I swapped the Imp. Griffins for 22 Inquisitors

Casualities: 16 Druid Elders
            6 Paladins
            3 Ancient Treants
            2 Archangels
            42 Master Hunters
            3 Silver Unicorns

I waited before charging and let Dougals troops advance. The Archmages cast Righteous Might on the Djinn Sultans and the attackns kill 16 Druid Elders. I Concentrate on the fragile Djinn, who are slaughtered by my Paladins and Angels. After the Angels were gone I focused on the Titans; The Angels were the Stars of the Battle, I wouldn't have won without them. Archangels attack Titans kill 4, Titans Retalialate and kill 1 ArchenGel. Treant ensnare Rakshasa  Raja, but the Gargoyles reach the Master Hunters and damage them severely. Silver Unicorns Interviene and manage to weaken the stack. Gilraen frenzies the Squires and Dougal Slows the Unicorns. Gilraen had other tricks down his sleeve as well (mass Haste and Mass Righteous Might). Mages attack Angels, kill none, Archangels retalialate and halve the stack of Magi. Inquisitor finish off Gargoyles, Frenzied Squires attack Rakshasa with Bash, ¨Master Hunters Weaken Rakshasas, Paladins Reach Marksmen, but are weakened by Titans Call Lightning. Angel ressurrect 11 Paladins, and finish off Titans with one lucky strike. Unicorns blind Rakshasas; only 10 Rakshasas are left. Archmages attack Archangels again, manage to kill one this time, but then are slaughterd by the Angels with one blow. Dougal kills a Unicorn with an Icebolt, but cannot stop them finishing the Rakshasas off. Gilrean cast Weakness on the Squires, and the Archangel finish them off with two blows...

This battle was such a kick@$$ !!!

Gilraen for President !
