It was closed because a certain "sick" member, whose name I will not mention but will refer to as Irritable Aged Mage, couldn't stand to have discussions in which someone was critical of America or Christianity - he would leap to call them "liar" and "basher". And now, I think, he's banned, but he took the whole of the Observatory with him.

He got banned..? I took a look in there and saw some closed threads but didn't check who was the troublemaker - if there was only one. Sad to hear, I hoped the observatory would succeed and actually thought it had since it was open for so long. Whether it's a bad decision I cannot tell as I don't know to what kind of crappy situations the mods were subject to.

Bah, who needs Fora like the observatory, if the posters only call eachother Liars, Backstabbers, etc...
Truth to say, I've always had a great hatred towards the Observatory and OSM (the only Fora I deliberately ignore, because I hate them)

I'll have to say that before the forum was opened most political/theological threads degenerated to the point that they were locked. It's not a matter of one man.
