~ToH Arena Tournament~ (rules®istration)
It looks that several ToH-ers have been infected with arena-disease, so tourney looks like a real option. As I have some experience on how arena tourneys successfully work in Heroes League, I will try to be "the man with a plan" and launch arena tourney here, in ToH forums.
If this tournament will be succesfull, we can think about some world championship on arena afterwards...
But, as for now, ladies and gentleman:

Registration
You can sign-up for the tourney here, in this thread. Only pre-requirement is that you should be registered in ToH. Information required is:
- your nick,
- MSN (if you are new to ToH, leave your MSN coordinates here)
- Approximate time, when you might be on MSN and ready to play (don’t forget to mention your time zone )
Although one arena game takes only ~ 1 hour, during tourney you will have to play many games. So, before register to the tourney, think twice, whether you will have enough time to play
Reporting system
All reporting will be done through ToH forums in a separate report thread (I will create it on September 12th; right after the registration will be over). Also in the same thread will be the table of the tourney, which I will regularly update as scores will come in.
Map for the tourney
Arena Map (english version)
Basic Rules
1. Every match between two players consists of two arena games. For every victory in arena you gain 1 point, for loss - 0 points.
2. Starting towns/heroes are set at "random". Players can choose starting bonus (I strongly suggest picking artifact as bonus ).
3. There are no restarts (because of "bad" town or "bad" spells or bad whatever).
4. Game settings:
- time limit for turn is 13 minutes (if both players agree, can be unlimited or other);
- difficulty is hard (although game will reset all resources to pre-set values at day 1 anyway);
- autosave is on;
- sim turns are on;
- dynamic battles are off;
- ghost mode is off;
- animation is set at maximum.
5. First turn (day 1) should be skipped in order to create autosave.
6. During second turn (day 2) both players level-up, buy army, visit memory mentor and do anything else they want to do. Day 2 ends with both players in the center and in the position ready for fight. Then autosave right before the battle is created.
7. Third turn (day 3) is for battle. The winner of the battle is the winner of the game.
Additional Rules
8. First game is hosted by one player, second - by second player. The host of the game has a right to choose terrain for the battle. The host of the game has a right to see the enemy hero in the center and only then go to arena.
9. If battle ends with cast of the magic that kills every creature on the battlefield, the winner of the game is player who cast the spell. Same rule applies in similar cases (e.g., using Raise Dead on living creatures and losing them all at the end of the battle).
10. Town-portaling back from the center is not allowed. Yet, if the player has more then one hero, second hero can bring additional army to the center during Day 2.
11. If one player is not in the center of the map at the end of the Day 2, he has to transfer next day’s income (500 or 1000 gold) to another player, who can use it at Day 3. In this case autosave before the battle is made at end of Day 3 and battle takes place at Day 4.
Possible Disconnects
If disconnect happens during loading of the game, game is recreated with random town/hero settings.
If disconnect happens during Day 2, game is loaded from autosave.
If disconnect happens during final battle, replay should be made and the battle should be replayed turn by turn in exactly the same manner as it was. Yet, as replaying whole battle turn by turn is pain in ass, if both players agree, they can use different solutions (either replay the battle without turn-by-turn repetition or send the replay of the battle to jugdes, who will determine the winner).
Format of the Tournament
During tournament every players plays with all other players two arena games. For victory in every arena game there is 1 point, for loss - 0 points.
Final rank of the tourney depends on the points gained.
If several players will have same amount of points, their final rank depends on the outcome of the games between them. If this does not solve it, then additional games should be played between those players. Additional games are played till 2 vicoties ("best out of 3").
Deadlines & Judging
Tournament will last for one month. All games that will not be played till the deadline of the tourney, would count as losses for both players (unless one of the players can prove that he tried to arrange the game, but it was not possible to find the opponent).
On special request minimal extention period will be allowed to finish all games.
All main judging issues will be dealt by me (Zilo). In special cases we can ask help to Ves or some other independent expert.
MSN list of players
To make it easier for everyone, here are MSN coordinates of all participants (same order as in the score table):

I have an amazing save from Arena , against Zilo ... I hope you will enjoy watching it, and be amazed .
Zilo - Sylvan , me - Academy :
Zilonite has the victory, but I took the Master of Blessing, for Mass Bless, but I didn't check my mage guild very well and I forgot I have Mass Cleansing, and that lost me the game ... without further presentations , I give you :

As for now there are only 7 participants in the tourney (I still hope the during last days we will have a few more...), its more or less clear that we will play "everyone with everyone" and no groups/play-offs.
Only thing that might be subject to change is the number of games played. If whole tourney is only some 12 arenas for every player, we won't even catch arena feeling So my proposal is that if there are less then 10 participants, we play each with another 4 games instead of planned 2. This means that in total every player during the tourney has to play ~24-28 arenas, which is not much anyway (in terms of time-consuming its still only about 1 and a half full game on Hourglass ).
Those who will participate, pls, comment on this one...

That would be really nice !
But I have an even better & simpler solution, make some Arena tags, like the H3 and H4 tags ... so we can play for ToH main ranking.
It could be something like this :
Two players meet and decide to play Arena.. They start 3 games, and the one that wins 2 out of 3, gets credit for the win. He reports it once, and gets the points as if it were only one normal game.
... I hope Vesuvius, pays a visit to this thread, to listen to our proposals

And again... I hope TOH NEVER accepts Duel battles as real games on Rankings page... The moment it does.. I for one will be gone ultra fast. And I am sure I wouldnt be the only one..
Special Tourny is Great Idea.... Counting Duel Battle as Real games = Horrible idea!

Full agree. Arena/duel games is not close to real games. Noting bad to play it for fun, but cant be part from toh Rankings.
BTW. When you playing duel game for 1st time its very interest but after 30-40 games its totaly boring. You know all for all heroes/races and its same every game. Not much fun here.

And why would you care about a bunch of people playing Arena games for ToH, and having a special icon stating that they do ?! You are not bothered by the H3 or H4 community, playing along on the same ranking.
I for one, happen to like Arena very much, I consider it much more than a duel. Also I like the ToH ranking system very much, with medals and awards, it gives me a very nice medieval fealing. I also lack the time to play full games right now.
So my question to you is, shouldn't I (and maybe other players) be allowed to play for ToH, the type of heroes game that I like(and have time for)?

well I must agree with Jinxer here...
you can compare the Arena/Standard game with an soccer game....
Standard game= you play the whole 90 minutes...
Arena= a penalty kick
so it would never be fair to get ranking points that way....
but like you Hero Raadoo I also like to play Arena...
So here is what I think could be added at ToH a "side" tourney you can play for glory but not the standard rankning points...

comparing heroes to football is crazy ... and your comparison is very unfortunate.
but if you must do that, I think the right comparison would be standard game = whole 90 minutes, arena = extra time(30 minutes)
I also don't understand why it wouldn't be fair. You think a good Arena player is gonna be a lousy standard game player ? Or is it because it takes much less time (1h - 1h and a half / serious arena game... so 3 arena games would last between 3h - 4h 1/2) ?
