Excellent, I think this is a very good idea. Another couple of comments: I think it would be ok for the more powerful creatures to have more than just one basic ability - for instance, it would be natural for the dragon to have also Firebreath as a native ability.

Something you need to consider is the balance of the individual upgrades. For instance, looking at the Fury, the Path of Rage seems to be an obvious choice for upgrade right from the start - not only does it offer the the all-important No Retaliation ability, it also adds a very powerful +3 Initiative.

This is not necessarily a problem - I think it's fine to have some options that will, from a tactical point of view, be natural to take in early game, and some others that might come more handy late game - but I think it's something that still needs to be taken into consideration, so that you don't risk some upgrades to become useless.

Of course. In that specific case I simply forgot about Firebreath for BD.

Agreed. Most numbers for stats bonuses are approximate here. And some of the upgrades also require tweaking - some are too specialized. The possible solution here is to make some "obvious choice" upgrades a bit expensive then others.

what about for the stalkler a path of protection? In the Tactics mode the stalker unit chooses another unit and anytime it retaliates the stalker targets the creature that hit the one its protecting, with a certain percentage of damage, just a suggestion I know its written kinda rough but I hope you get the idea.

Well,I have another Upgrading Concept but I will post it here first,to know if the Moderators consider this good to open my own Upgrading Concept thread

                        My Upgrading System

I'd like to focus on accesories that the unit can use to upgrade his stats (to make it intresting) and you could focus on the stats you want to upgrade (like in Malgore's Concept, but something is different)

Upgrading the Stats

The accesories are 3,each for upgrading 2 (except Boost Shoes) stats:

Weapon (Attack and Damage)
Armor and Shield (Defense and Health)
Boost Shoes (Speed,Innitiative)

I will give an example:

Horned Demon

Level 1 Weapon Upgrade: Hand Chains
+1 Attack
2-4 Damage (the regular Damage was 1-4)

Level 1 Armor&Shield Upgrade: Shield of the Fallen Warrior
+1 Defense
+5 Health

Level 1 Boost Shoes Upgrade: The Forgotten Boost Shoes
+1 Speed
+4 Innitiative

I made the names for the Level of the Upgrades, but the accesories are named for the faction they are used:
Inferno - Accesories of Fallen Warriors (Chains,Shield of Fallen)
Haven - Regular Armors and Weapons (Medieval Weapons&Armor and Boost Shoes)
Necro - Again, accesories of the Fallen Warriors
...

So,how is it?
Please say if you consider similar to Malgore's,or not
This will depend if I need to open a new thread or let the concept here

Artifacts for all the creatures is an interesting idea, but won't it become a bit banal after a while, using too many artifacts? I mean, finding new artifacts for your hero won't be an exciting thing anymore, if all those effects will come also from custom artifacts...

You still need to think about all these things. Also, how will they be achieved? By the hero? Why not making them racial? Perhaps changing it from "accessories" to something else?

Yes,they ca be Racial
And I write "accesories" because I don't have much time to think to another name when I post the concept

finally... People who think innovative

very good idea indeed.
I only see one major problem with it. will the name of the creature be the same when it's upgraded. Else ubisoft should come up with 8 names for each creature. If the names for the creatures should be the same it would be rather confusing... My idea is that when you get the upgrade in one city you get it in all cities.
If you have got non-upgraded units should you then pay for it to be upgraded or would they become upgraded automatically.
Anyway nice idea I love it. I really hope it will be used

I like the idea very much, but have a question. Let's say that I made Hydra have Cold Blood. Will it be more expensive, then? If it will, would I be able to recruit non-CB Hydra? And will all other forces have such "paths"?

When you choose a path, the creature is physically (the model, colors, etc.) changed like in a normal upgrade? And the name, changes too?

You know... I ask this because it makes easier to distinguish creatures and then don't generate situations like "Hell, I wouldn't attack these Hydras guarding the cool artifact if I knew they have No Retaliation "
