You must be joking, because most scientists attribute a chance to it. Religious people might say the end of the world or anything like that, but absolutely not with "Black Holes" or with this experiment. LOL.

Try reading this "OMG not religious!" article: A Black Hole ate my lab (it has humor & seriousness at the same time)

I wonder, we allready got nukes and are creating laser weapons and aternativ superteknologi.
A century is after all 100 years, and look what we did in 50. The research will likely speed up til it reaches its speed cap, and that may be happening in a rapid pace.
In worst case scenary our race will collapse due some misareable mancreated zombie virus like behaves like its from one of those bad zombie movies.

No ****... Come on... would you jump out of a window if someone told you the building was about to collapse?

And btw don't seem to believe what I'm saying do you?
Quote:
It actually will create many black holes but their lifespan will be so incomprehendsably small that they won't be able to hurt a fly

I read this in a science magazine... it won't even be possible to create a black hole the size that it could consume a daisy... So would you everybody who is talking about blackholes consumeing earth just keep it down and actually read something on the subject before they say "I'm scared!!"?

Quote:
I have my doubts as well about this... you know, as Death said 2012... too big of a coincidence if you ask me

... I won't stop you if you feel like you have to believe in such "theorys" but ehm... look at Deaths post again (OMG TheDeath posted it!!11!!1 THAT CAN'T BE A COINCIDENCE WE'RE ALL GONA DIE FOR REAL!!! ARRGH)
Quote:
I read somewhere that a black hole will be formed, eating 1 atom at first, and being attracted to the center of the Earth. Then it will keep on growing. In 4 years it is expected to be big enough to swallow the Earth. 4 years? 2012? Another freaking coincidence

Do you see any "reason" for those 4 years... NOO just some ludacris who thought it'd be funny to scare all the people who'd actually believe that "theory" oO. If this whole project would have started 2006 the atom would miracoulsy need 6 years, etc. Jesus chirst...

The people behind this project are essentially saying, "we won't know what is going to happen until it happens, but don't worry, nothing bad will happen, based on our assumptions". Well sure, I mean, such is the nature of optimism. Do you think the American Government would have been open about building an atomic bomb that devastated an entire city in WW2?

Yet, if in science, we "know" what we're doing, why the hell do we call it "research"? Think about it.

2012 was simply the end of the Mayan calendar.

Just like December 31st, just they have a much bigger calendar.

But instead of the world blowing up, we just reset the calendar back to January 1st every year

No, they are not saying that at all.
But what are they saying?

"Yep we're pretty sure this is not going to end the world, based on our theories and predictions."

Doesn't that imply that they kinda "know what they're doing"? If they already know that nothing 'exotic' will happen, why do you make the experiment then?

And no I'm not getting sucked in by your "anything could cause a black hole we just don't know" logic NICE TRY!

It may have, but lol there are too many predictions on 2012, not only that. Even "scientific" coincidences like the Sun entering a new phase or something. Yes they're just "coincidences" but that was my whole point -- too many freaking coincidences

Quote:

Surely, you don't expect those people to say that the end of the world will happen. After all, why should they? So you can blame them? Or to cause panic?

What I'm saying is that citing sources from THEIR scientists are not solid at all. Who would admit that?

A Black Hole ate my Lab --> read this, again.

It is research but it's not about whether or not it'll destroy the world or not
That'd be pretty stupid research

In fact, there is nothing at all to suggest it will do anything dangerous, anymore than me typing this on a computer. It's all science fiction. I just thought you would say that we don't know and therefore should just leave it alone lol.

It's research into things such as the Higgs boson.

If I research whether what age group of people like The Simpsons, just because nothing dangerous is likely to happen, or anything "exotic", doesn't mean the research can't provide information.
