Coincidences?

Does anyone else the the link between Lego & HVToE?

Other examples here, here, here, and here.

I just chuckled a little to myself watching my son play with these sets, and all the while I'm thinkin, dang.. I need to start a new campaign.

Has anyone else seen similarities between HV and other products?

I would rather say that they hav more similiarities to LOTR then to HOMMV. But after all any game that has ELves, Dwarves, Gnomes, Trolls can be said that it has own Lego.

That aint lego. It's starting to resemble playmobile.

Lego used to be fun when you didn't have utterly unique bricks for every single model you bought, and it allowed you a lot of freedom to create things yourself...

These days, it sucks.

lol awesome the prison carriage dragged (? not sure it's the good word) by skeleton horses.

I remember I had a prison carriage dragged by a dragon, it was the serie with the "bat-knights", the sorceress and the dragons. it's the best medieval lego theme I've known.

Quote for truth.

I'm still a Lego freak, I actually keep all my childhood Legos in a room right next to mine, in case I ever need them. But these days they're just not the same.
This fantasy medieval theme actually isn't TOO bad. I bought a skeleton rider a few months ago (the salesman watched me awkwardly but just assumed it's for my brother or something, I guess), just to get the skeletal horse and the scythe parts. Needed them for my Riders of the Apocalypse. But what really pisses me off are the Star Wars Legos. Ok, it was fun for a while, got the X-Wing, got the droid floating tank thingy, got the Imperial Throne with Darth Vader and some other stuff, but enough is enough.
Someone should just imprison George Lucas already.

And I agree about the bat knights thingy One of the best ever.
Actually, the goodies are always the same Arthurian crap, it's the bad guys that make the medieval sets so fun. From the dragon knights, to the bat knights, to the bull knights (didn't like the bull knights though), there was really some diversity there.
And I got the dragon prison carriage too Love it.

I was thinking of making some Lego movies but I guess it'd just take too much time and I'm afraid of leaving it halfway through

there hasn't been a new space theme after star wars?
imo the best space theme  was the ufo one, those flying saucer were cool, and the alien characters were quite awesome. didn't like the insect theme they made after that. the star wars theme was ok (dark maul was cool), I had dark maul's ship, and I made a kind of dark vador ship with it.

the adventurers theme was cool too, with all those trapped temples and mummies.

do you remember when they totally changed the city theme? the new theme totally sucked...

The Star Wars theme is still prominent as hell. They constantly make new stuff which is basically same as old stuff but people are gonna pay a shyteload of cash to get it.
You're totally right about the UFOs (I also liked the human space-exploring expedition, those two kind of fit well together), the insectoid aliens were alright if you mixed them with these. Like humans caught in an alien crossfire or something like that ^^
There were also some Martian alien thingies afterward, but I was never into those.
Still, the original flying saucer UFOs were the coolest.

The adventurers theme was so much more awesome than this new Lego Indiana Jones crap... I mean, you can't beat a guy with those kind of moustache and his archnemesis, the one handed Nazi dude with a monocle But again, it's Lucas's fault.

And I wasn't much interested in the city theme... Don't know why. Always preferred pirates, wild west etc.

My favourites were the underwater sets. Can't really remember what was it called, but it was about two sides (the goodies and the baddies) collecting some underwater crystals. The good guys were generally coloured blue and yellow with their divers having white suits and the bad guys had these freaking cool orange/black shark desings on their submarines and other really cool stuff . I still like LEGO today. The realtively new type of LEGO that was originally called the "TECHNICs", but now they are just LEGO among the rest, they are pretty cool in my opinion. Great for making an "action figure" sort of things and very good for vehicles and other stuff.

It was called Aquazone... There were new factions later, like Stingrays.
God I can't believe I still remember all that stuff

Maybe we ought to make a separate Lego thread...

Does this ring any bells? I still have my ghost. My son loves it!  I still LOVE getting legos, even as an adult, but it's even better being able to use my son as an excuse.  I even get to play with them w/o the wife thinking I'm slow! lol

I used to get the pirate sets for the guns, then have wars with my city sets.  I converted the airport into an Air Force Base (complete with Anti-Aircraft "cannons") put working bomb-bay doors on the airliner, and made a missle launcher w/ opening doors in the aquazone sub.  It was the police vs the airport.  All aircraft had mounted guns/missiles/bombs (including the police helicopters), There were ICBM's (made from barrels) and everyone had pirate guns/rifles (even used life vests as flak jackets, and the pirate backpacks as parachutes for pilots).  Wow.. Good Times!

@Keksimaton: Here's the Aquazone
@Baklava: (Why does your name make me hungry??jk) Thanks for that site! Awesome memories there!

Here's the forest men (ancient!!)
I still have this space robot built
This was my first lego set ever here
Very Rare hospital here. Even has a Physical Therapy Dept! lol
I made the tow boom of this one into an ICBM launcher. lol.. Lego SCUD. (guess I was a disturbed child)

wow.. that site brings back memories.  check it out here.  There's ALL kinds of old sets to lookup.

But back to the topic.. I doubt Lego is trying to "ripoff" HV.. It's just fun to build and relive battles from the campaigns with the lego guys (sandro is incredibly easy to make).

Hey! Who's up for building Lego HV!? lol
