I think I played it, I'm not to crazy about those games, where you have to make food and wine and cloth, and this and that, you know.. Not my style. I liked this one more than the general ones though...

Great game. I have both the original and the expansion. Good times I had while playing this game.

Usually I'm not much of a fan of those games as well, but Zeus was fun and highly addictive. I enjoyed every moment of it.

Zeus, Poseidon, Caesar, Pharaoh, Emperor... Too addictive
Spent days of my life with those. Zeus was somehow the most prominent.
A great one.
I was just kind of pissed with all those nobles constantly demanding stuff. Usually just found it easier to build a temple to Ares or Artemis and get free units plus bonuses.

i think what made zeus less cool then pharoh is probbly the fact i need nobles to have hoplite or horseman.
i do however know how to make the game easy.
Build a temple to ares and Aretmis, the sprati and the amazons are incredible strong units,2 platons of sparti and of amazons, along with one or two tirame to counqer practicly everyone...
so cool when i get tributes.

After I finish replaying Emperor on Very Hard (again), I'm gonna see if Zeus/Poseidon will run. I never completed the expansion missions, so I still have some ground to cover.

Heh, one of the things I liked was the games that were held. I liked seeing what I would come in the events. One of the most annoying things though is when you have a large city to maintain and buildings are crashing all the time. I know I need more maintenance but even that may not help all the time, and it just gets annoying having to rebuild everything all the time. Having large unemployment rates are also annoying, even when I am building a lot of buildings, no one wants to get a job at many of them. Still a really good game though. I like having the heroes come and help attack creatures.

Anyways.. If I am gonna play a build a building to open up new buildings, it will probably be command and conquer or warcraft but really, I feel I grow tired of games. We'll see when I get some new games.

I hated whenever a scripted event like an Earthquake or a God/Monster invasion occurred in my city area. However, I think a well-designed city would have enough maintenance coverage to avoid the need to rebuild frequently. C'mon, surely you can spare some extra drachma on additional maintenance offices.

How odd. You must've done something really awful for your people to refuse to work in your buildings. Otherwise, I'd tell you to build a few Trireme Wharves. And who knows? Maybe your people refuse to work inside buildings that never get inspected for damage.

In Pharaoh, The prequel of Master of Olympus: Zeus you could set priorities to where you want your citizens t work (eg: priority to Industry means the employees will start working in Claypits, Blacksmiths and potters, before working in Drama Schools, Olive farms or Watchtowers.) I'm not sure whether it existed in Zeus, but I think it did.

Yes, Earthquakes or a God/Monster invasion were quite annoying, especially if you had just built a building that required rather a lot of resources or if a well populated area (upgraded rather) gets ruined. I usually build a lot of maintenance offices but usually that's not enough since something will get destroyed sooner or later.

Well usually I think it may have to do with the fact that I don't have much Drachma to actually pay for the jobs, but even when i do sometimes it still complains that people are unemployed and the unemployment rate is rising and all this other stuff. I build a house and then I build a building right beside it to see if people are employed there, but nothing happens. I usually can get people to get inside there and then rectify the problem of unemployment but it gets rather tedious at times, especially if there is something attacking my city.
@Lexxan, i think it might exist in Zeus, not sure though. I'll have to check later to confirm that, but I must admit that it is quite a good feature in the game. i don't have the full version of Pharaoh though which is a real shame since I played the demo and it was really good imo.

You can download Pharoah for free afaik.
I prefer it to Zeus, but I like Emperor (Chinese version and Sequel to Zeus) more than Pharaoh. In both Emperor and Pharaoh you could "shift labour", as it was called.

Sweet, I might try and find a link to it then.
And Guitarguy uses them all the time, so I just decided to use it for fun.
PS: Does anyone know if Zeus is able to be played online?

It may be a debt-related problem, but I'm not certain of it. As I avoided getting into debt most of the time, I didn't experience most of the ill effects of not being able to pay wages.
In Zeus and the later CB games, there are no "employment walkers" who are generated from buildings to find nearby housing. Instead, buildings will automatically fill up with available workers. A building will receive employees even if it's located far from your housing areas. An exception is when you place a building on an isolated piece of land or island, whereby workers will only fill the structure if you build a bridge across the waters. Hence, going back to what you said, placing a building directly adjacent to housing will not increase your citizens' incentive to work.
I don't see how filling buildings with employees can be tedious. If you're on the brink of an invasion, maybe you should've planned better earlier in the mission. And if something like a Monster attacks when the mission starts, then maybe you need to rethink your building strategy a little. And, as always, it's best to start an industry early so that your exports will keep your treasury full.
