I like the idea of costumizing the towns. It's really fun to choose between the arhitecture style of your town, the units' look etc.I had the idea for Haven units look. There should be a Muslim costumization for him (the Squires to have the specific Muslim swords, like the Djinn's).Beside Haven, also the Academy should have costumization options to look "European",beside the "Indian" looking.

But here comes the problem. The only costumizabile factions are Haven,Academy, and probably Necro (because they can have a haunted Gothic style town). But how can think the Inferno or Dungeon towns can be custumizabile with romanic, gothic, etc styles.Probably the creature costumizing will look, but it's somewhat (underpowered look??) if some factions can have the music, town, creatures, etc custumizabile, and other only the creatures

What if the appearance of towns you own is influenced by your starting town type? Like, say you start as an Inferno, and you capture a Haven town. The angel statues could be replaced with demons, and the architecture would change to something more jagged-looking, with more smoking chimneys and a cloud of smog obscuring the sky. Or, if you start as Sylvan and capture a Haven, you get wooden buildings instead of stone, more trees, water, etc.?

To begin with, I started playing HoMMII and thought it was great, the graphics were snow but who cares, it's a strategy game...
I'm happy with how things were in IV, graphics were decent and gameplay was good, who cares about the rest?
Also, like others have said, you'd waste too much time customising your town, and imagine playing multiplayer >.<;;
I think someone else already mentioned, but the terrain variation in towns was done in IV so maybe they'll bring it back, but does it really matter?
It's a bit silly looking but does affect gameplay? No.
I'm all for graphics.... That's if I'm gonna be playing Oblivion and the like. (gotta love Oblivions graphics ^.^)
Artifacts being the size of the heroes, well, imagine how hard it would be to see if they were preportionate(sp?) to the heroes?
It's a strategy game, not an art class.
HoMM has always been like this, why change now?
Oh, and if you want custom music, I have an idea, put music vol. down to nothing and play your own music...
I dunno, I think having HoMMV in 3D is too much honestly, so it's just my opinion...

Personally I don't like focusing in the faction I start with. See "put an end to racism". It's just a strategy game. Giving each town a symbol is just too much, I think.

I appreciate the comments guys.

However, I would like to point out that fan mod customability is drasticaly different from what I had initially proposed. That kind of modulation is for those who love to customize every detail and not everyone has the time, drive, or ability to undertake those kind of projects (like the HOMM III mods).

I would not wish for every little detail to be customizable but there should be some set options for each creature, hero, faction, etc. And no, there should not be the option to make rainbow colored death knights as every customizable aspect would fit entirely in context with the game and whatever is being customized.

Customization should be enjoyable and able to be done quickly. There should not be a rediculous amount of options. Plus, customization should open many doors for what is possible in the development of Heroes games(I'm not talking mods).

I guess I'm sounding just like Willow (thank you Willow) but that is the idea. Game play should not be harmed by customability but actually enhanced. Very realistic.
