More ignorance then actual facts.
Maybe it's that way in your country but out here it's more being rich then beautiful.

People with money dont always want to hang out with the poor.
Unless they know them for a long time.

I know countless of beautiful people that hang out with Cheapos.

Just plain ignorance if you ask me.

Human nature & history makes people think like that.
We are all human & we all have flaws.

Your better at somethings more then I.
I may be better then you are in other things.
This kind of thinking makes me think of haters.

There are alot of good people out there.
Some people just never give them a chance,

They used to say "you know it when you see it" for villains, liars, jews, "scum" and so on as well, so I'm not buying that.

Cheap may actually have a lot of reasons.
cheap may have the purpose of being provocative, of raising appetite, so-to-speak, for their own -selfish - reasons.
However it may have the purpose of simply wanting to score fast.
But it may just be an error in judgement, a maneuvre to make someone jealous, the result of a bet or too much alcohol, an attempt to hide insecurity or look older as they are, a joke and so on.
Why flash labels then?

*sighs*

alright... lets try again

cheap has little to do with how much flesh is shown (though more exposed flesh tends to be common)
cheap has nothing to do with how attractive someone is (you can be jawdropping gorgeous and cheap as hell)
cheap has nothing to do with the actual value of your clothes and accessories (in fact, some inexpensive items are far better than overpriced "brand" ones)

cheap has to do with taste and not choosing to "advertise" the right assets, wether we are talking about appearance or personality
cheap has to do with how you carry yourself, how you move, talk, interact in general
cheap, finally, has to do with how you see yourself, because thats a very defining factor when it comes to how people see you

In other words, it's completely subjective and you cannot define it in a general way.

Hey Doomforge.

I wonder why you decided I'm bitter.

Hey, Milena. Didn't meant you are. What I meant is it's the bitter people that generally write that the opposite sex is 'mblah' Doesn't of course mean you are one. Sorry for confusion.

Quote:
1. Being beautiful is not 'sinful'.
2. Not being beautiful and trying very hard to be is not 'sinful'.
3. People are jealous.
4. Men are ashamed of admitting they are turned on by 'cheap tricks'.

yes I agree, except the last one, cause the last one is a bit over-generalized. Look, I know you don't believe me, but I really dislike the common "attention *****" behavior in both women and men. And since I am heterosexual, it only bothers me - when attractiveness comes to mind - in women But no, I don't find it inappropriate or something like that. It just doesn't feel sexy to me

Quote:
I've never argued that if you lack a certainly quality, you'll have to work very hard to compensate. But it's a fact that the topic of the thread os beauty, which is why I'm commenting on it. I also wanted to point out the attitude. People with average of lower intelligence are encouraged to study and get education. People who are not beautiful but are really trying are more often than not looked down upon.

Yes but ultimately beauty is in the eye of the beholder So you can try and study, but being educated and being intelligent are IMHO very different things and - I may be wrong of course - I think you can't change your intelligence. IQ, maybe (no, I don't associate IQ with intelligence - more with "brain reflexes") ; Knowledge maybe; but not "intelligence". It's as natural as beauty: either you have it or not

Quote:
Here's a error in the logic here. Just because someone SAYS they are repelled by something doesn't mean they really are. In my experience men are turned on by what was called 'cheap looks' here but they are ashamed to admit it even to themselves. My point? I'd be curious to make an experiment. Take 100 men and expose them from 5 to 7 minutes of this 'cheap beauty', then ask them if they find it appealing. I'm sure the bulges in their pants would betray quite a few of them.

Ah, the problem of common taste.Same with "dark haired guys with blue eyes". They are considered attractive by most of women and, well, cheap by some men (usually men: those who are short and with blond hair ) Why cheap? Well, cause it's so unoriginal. If you desire what is desired by 90% of humanity, some people just call it cheap.

As for me, what you described as cheap beauty really doesn't turn me on. You can trust me

JJ, Lith.. as for the whole cheap issue.. I associate the word with the words "commercial" and "mundane". But I don't quite know what a definition of that word would be. Yeah, it's subjective.

One problem maty, i have met several guys with that.
Of them, one of them was really good looking. He had the hair fitting along with fitting clothes to that. And he was not a bastard on the top of that.
Without the clothes he would not look that good, but without the attitude he would not really be that popular But the hair was like the king of a chess, the style of it wa a foundation of trhe style.
The guys i had meet with black hair and blue eyes usually lacked the hairstyle or the clothes along with the attitude.

And for the comparision, men are turned on faster than women and there are in fact less droll clothes for menn compared to women. We got a society for it litteraly.
But it then dependso n the society and region, because US is not Israel. Norway is not India. Sweden is not Australia

And also the boss hiring a sexy secritary: We got laws against it, but that does not stop it from happing and cause bad examples.

To some extent I agree with Mythical, however I do detect a small hint of fanatic equality. Mvass did put it right: There is a REASON why the minimal swimminggear for men is a speedo, and for women it's a bikini. And that reason is NOT surpression.

Sure you can say if men can bare their chests, so can women, on grounds of "equality", but male and female chests are NOT the same thing. Not that I'd complain about toplessness But still.

There still ARE specific roles the sexes find themselves pushed into that, in my opinion, aren't exactly an epitome of equality, but aren't a bad thing either. How many women complain about the male role of opening the door for them, putting out the trash, pulling out a seat for them, paying the bill after dinner?

Point I'm making is, I am all for equal rights, but men and women are NOT the same. Not only physically. And you need to keep that into consideration.

Heh, here's the dilemma

Part of me wants to shout "I don't open the door for feminazis".

The other part says I will regardless. A gentleman's behavior towards women is not defined by his personal like or dislike towards an individual Violent-Flower is an exception, she isn't a woman.

No, what you do with Feminazis is you pretend to hold the door open for them, then quickly get in the door before they can, and shut it immediately, right in their faces!

You shouldn't build sentences like
"I'm all for equal rights, BUT..."

If there's a BUT, it means you are not ALL for equal rights.

Speaking of swimsuits, if you look at older pictures you'll see that in earlier times men did hide their nipples as well...

P.S.: Of course, with equal rights come equal duties, mind you.

To have equal rights you must be equal, in all aspects.

But you still don't. Why only women get the right to be pregnant and carry a fetus?

Dear, oh dear, Death you are so wrong. As far as I know it's not probited legally for men to get pregnant and carry a fetus - in fact last year a man did.
Nonono, you don't have to be equal in all aspects to have equal rights, because a right is something GRANTED. Moreover HAVING a right granted is not the same than having it granted to be able to make use of that right.

Yes and by that logic, prohibiting rights is similar -- with the previous 'third eye' example, it would apply to men as well if they had it, but they don't.

For example, prohibiting the right to be pregnant is no more sexist than granting it. (it may be immoral etc... but NOT sexist)

EVERYthing you grant or prohibit EXCLUSIVELY for one sex BECAUSE of the sex is sexist.
