Music question
Hey, I've been listening to some metal songs recently, and I really like the guitar stuff, but the sandpaper-on-throat growling they call singing is really pissing me off!
Anybody know some good songs/bands with metal-style guitar in which the singing won't make me want to rip my ears off? Thanks!

Since I don't like metal, I can't help you much but once I saw a YouTube video with a background music some sort of metal-ballad -- it didn't have growling voices so you might like it. The song name was something like "Lost and damned" I think, by Kamelot. Apologize if it's wrong, as I said I'm not into this stuff much.

Here is some awesome metal music. This guy is basically turning all of the songs from the Metroid games into metal versions. I love them =D

I thought you meant the best song in the world.
Ever heard Falconer, even though some songs are in Swedish most songs aren't, 'cept in one album I can't remember the name of.
A, which actually the name of the band, haven't heard very much, but you might like it.
Meatloaf, quite big actually.
The I must say System of a Down, maybe not what you wanted but they sure have some good songs.

There is a LOT of metal that doesn't include growling. I'm not much of an expert, but if you want something melodic search up Stratovarius.

I recommend The 69 Eyes. Their music is very melodious and the songer has a deep voice. They don't look so cool but who cares
"Paris Kills" is their best album in my opinion. Check them out...

What you have suffered is a genre called "Death Metal".
Try listening to any metal except the Death and Black genres (you'll recognize them easily; Deathers replaced bathing in water with bathing in inner organs, and Blackers have a distinct urge to dress up like gimps, put some makeup on and serve Satan's evil diabolical schemes by making strange sounds and peeing on random religious symbols).
You might want to either start off with some older metal bands such as Black Sabbath, Iron Maiden, Judas Priest and the like; something medium like Metallica and Megadeth, or some newer stuff such as Dragonforce (for skill) or System of a Down (for the message).
And beware of gayish emo stuff which wants you to think it's metal (such as "HIM").
