Who said she has a "bad voice" but "good talent"? She has a good voice. What is bad in it? Because it's in the lower register compared to other female singers? So what?

Consider this. Susan Boyle starts to sing her son. Simon shows a look of disgust. This is copied by the other two judges. At the end of her song they all vote no.
Still going to have millions of fans then?

Ehm... maybe you haven't seen what utterly retarded people are sitting in those chairs and how much they know about music. They're going to tear you to pieces if you're good and praise you if you're as good a singer as a rhinoceros.
And such speculation is actually very interesting if you ask me. Says a lot about society. And yeah I'm certain Phoenix is right it's all about the image these people get from the show.

Let's look a little more closely. What has Susan Boyle accomplished? She can sing one song. Does she know any of the other music from Les Miserables? Could she perform it?
She may have a nice voice but is it any better than hundreds of others? Why should you waste your limited funds on a cd of hers? On what merit does she get a recording contract?
It doesn't make sense to simply listen to the judges on some show.

You might not listen to cd's The Death. Therefore the question doesn't apply to you. But some people do.
If you mean why buy a cd in general, there are some things you can get on cd and lp that you can't find online.

I meant, what makes others in particular more special than Susan? And the same applies to her: what makes her more special?
It's just a random pick. Ok not exactly random as it varies with taste, but you get the idea.
The whole "why X and not Y" is pointless -- if you picked Y, you would say "why Y and not X"

Unless you establish a set of standards. Some people do.
There are factual things like pitch accuracy and musical note value accuracy.
Then there is taste.
Then there is the forum of presentation which is what I find objectionable here.
