But you've seen them... it's too late for you now. Just wait till you see the Orc Nazguls (They call them Death Knights, Orcs who have defeated a wizard council member get promoted by Sauron himself and get a place among the Nazgul).

If you'd seen that not even deleting your harddisk would help.

I played that game and I liked it

I did laugh at the lore though. I did a review on it some months ago. There I said there was Uruk'hai mages etc when in the real LOTR its so boring that like 6 people can cast spells.

Well, xerox, you can go play wow, while mommy and daddy will discuss over tea and biscuits.

Anyway, how a world where like 98% of the populace can do magic hasn't descended in total anarchy, yet, no one knows

I have it 2, but i finished it in one single day... too easy
The multiplayer is nice, but again too easy, just pick archer class and shoot in everyone's head... or warrior and mash the shieldbreakermove or assassin and sneak when you see someone, then backstab... or mage, well its overpowering...
you just have to repeat one single move and you win every multiplayer battle...

That and the fact that in a world where magic is so common, it's no longer really "magic" is it? It's just a form of technology really.

I bet the company could have been more loyal to the culture of Middle Earth while also making more money from it. A fantasy game/story doesn't need spells going off every 2 seconds to make it good.

... everybody cannot do magic in WoW... otherwise everybody would be mages >.>
Plus that among the Night Elves, arcane magic is forbidden and the orginal Horde races always harnessed the powers of the Elements instead. Plus, among humans, magic was only for the elitist. They were placed above the rest and even had their own city state, which had a rather small populaton.

And in my fantasy universe its very hard to manipulate Ley energies and many races oppose playing with such chaotic forces.

Is a Ley like a Fey, only they eat Lays potato chips?

In terms of realism (within the confines of that world), Middle Earth makes more sense than most other fantasy universes. The amount of magic in other worlds has so much potential for exploitation that one has no idea why it isn't either anarchic (like Gares said) or unquestionably dominated by mages.

Magic is already exploited in the Warcaft universe.
If it wasnt for the Night Elves reckless use of Arcane magic the Burning Legion would never come, the old gods would never have been able to spread their influence and the Orcs etc wouldnt even have come to Azeroth. All troubles in WoW were caused by use of magic >.>

Ley is a type of cosmic energy in my fantasy universe, that is channeled through Ley Lines (which are inspired from WoW).

I was thinking of magical winds, like they use in warhammer...
Anyway,
Quote:

Then how come half the characters use magic? Druis, priests, mages, warlocks and I haven't seen death knights, but I know Arthas used magic as a death knight, so that leaves five out of nine classes as a magic user. Oh, wait... Hunters have something like arcane shot right? Six out of nine classes use magic. I think pretty much everyone can use magic in WoW.

Warlocks come from Mages, they use the same type of magic in many ways. Priests uses Light and Shadow energies from the Twisting Nether. I dont know if it can be called real magic. Druids, Shamans and Hunters all use natural magic, but Hunters do have a few abilities were Arcane magic has a role.

Well, obviously many major lore characters that use magic, since magic users often have an advantage over "normal people", both in combat and politically etc.

This is an incredible stupid discussion. Even if everybody could use magic, then you would not know the consequences since magic doesnt exist IRL...
I will leave this thread for now, its already off-topic enough.

The fact that Tolkien only gave magic to creatures who were above elves, humans and orcs should be proof that he didn't wan many people running around with magic. And magic is magic, xerox, if I call it pants magic and glive magic, that's still makes it magic. Sure pants magic makes people laugh more and glove magic is very effeminate, but at the end of the day, if everyone is capable of pulling off magic, destroying lavoisier's law (which the LOTR-mages don't do at all), then things would either be very anarchic or very volatile to say the least.
