Interesting...

Consis, that's what I thought, too.  But yesterday, I asked a friend of mine, who does a lot of weight training, and he said that his trainer told him that it actually is a misconception.  That is, as long as you don't go overboard and train like you're steroids or something.  I think he said that working out the chest will make them firmer and hang less, but if you train like a body builder, they'll shrink.

Heh, seems like there's no end to discovering more and more of my evil twins

On the anatomical subject, strengthening the pectoralis muscles can indeed give the chest a more pronounced appearance, for both sexes. However a significant amount of exercise can reduce the amount of body fat for a less pronounced chest appearance. Female bodybuilders also suffer reduced chest size due to hormones they are taking which slightly confuse their body to think that it doesn't need much femininity, hence reduction in female features and increase in male features.

Well . . .

Actually, the truth is this: "Body Builders" aren't actually building their bodies. I think 'sculpting' would be a more appropriate word. These people train long and hard with weights, maintain a high-protein + high calorie + low-fat food intake, and then they perform what is called "crash course dieting" the day before their competitions.

When they train with weights they do so at about 60%-80% of their maximum performance. That is . . . If the most weight they can lift is 100 lbs then they perform their repetitions with anywhere between 60 lbs to 80 lbs. Their actual repetitions are categorized (accepted USOTC terminology) as muscular specific 'mass enhancing'. It is not "strength training". {Strength training is a highly scientifically designed and calculated training program that helps a person increase their maximum amount of weight to be lifted(pulled) or pushed.} That means they train with a lot of weight and do a very large amount repetitions targeted at a very specific muscle or group of muscles. A Body Builder schedule will generally consist of a 5-day week with 2 days (never back to back) off for rest. But this is rarely adhered to. One usually finds that the competitor takes only a single day off from weight training, and usually spends it on cardiovascular training (i.e. jogging, treadmill, etc). Each phase of weight training is followed by a significant amount of resting, eating, and sleeping.

They rest and sleep more than the average person. The average person (depending on which capita you find yourself) rests and sleeps for 8 hours per day. A Body Builder does so for about 12 to 15 hrs per day.

When they eat, they usually eat a great deal more than an average person of equivalent size. On average, they eat twice as much or possibly more. Things they eat can be almost anything as long as it has a high calorie and protein amount. Some will use blended protein shakes, vitamins, etc. And some extremists even go as far as to cut all sugar out of their diet. This is can be a great risk to their mental health. The human brain mainly uses two things to function properly: Sugar and Oxygen.

When competition time arrives, they do something that alarms many respected nutritionists, cardiologists, and other such doctors. They go without food or water for a full 12 hrs the day prior to the competition. Then about an hour before the competition starts, they gorge themselves on high sugar concentrations (i.e. two candy bars eaten very quickly). This massive influx of sugar into a human body which has been deprived of food and water for 12 hrs suddenly reacts in some shocking ways. The veins of a person usually bulge outward and the brain commonly experiences sugar overdose. Because of this combination of crash-course dieting and sugar overdosing, competitors often find they are more likely to faint or experience depression immediately following the drop in sugar levels once it has been consumed by the body.

Now then, to respond to your friend's comment about "firmer and hanging less". It is not true. As you can clearly see in the summary I've provided for you; they would become smaller and hang less. Some people are often fooled by the firm and tight look that is the result of a breast implant surgery. This is not common knowledge to everyone. When they see a body builder woman with firm and tight breasts that don't hang they often tend to believe the breasts are real, when in fact they aren't.

If you recall the crash-course dieting that they do; this is where the body is tricked into basic survival mode. It thinks it has no food and does not know when it may get more. During this period the body literally begins to eat itself to save the vital organs. When it does this, fat tissue is consumed first, then muscle, then ligaments and bone, and finally the body dies from something as simple as a ruptured blood vessel that is unable to patch itself or a simple case of the common cold from which the body is no longer strong enough to fight off. This is a deception to your body that only the mind is aware of. And not long after the Body Builder does such things he or she soon finds herself with the common symptoms associated with weak blood vessel walls most notably near the high pressure chambers of the heart.

Cheating your body into eating its fat in such a hurry is a dangerous business. It works very well . . . too well. The breasts shrink first even before the thighs and hips in a woman. This is because a woman's body is genetically/divinely created to carry, protect, and nurture a child . . . in that order.

I want to challenge this assertion.  Fat comes off the entire body at the same time, it doesn't come off in any one area preferentially in either men or women.

I've read this is a few different places.  I've also had a lot of personal experience with this as I watch my wife's body weight fluctuations.

So here's my prediction concerning what will happen if Iris works out with bench-pressing.  If she still retains her normal woman's body fat ratio than her breasts will become pert yet remain full and luscious at the same time.
