mostly ranger for me. or maybe should I say sniper, since my RPGs are deus ex and fallout 3. I'm very stealthy also.

A mix between Agile Fighter and Assassin. Most games have a class which incorporates both anyway, or at least let you become like that after further customizing your skills/weapons, etc.
But if I would really have to choose between those 2, it's number 2, hence why I voted for it.

I actually like 4 out of 5. I never liked the Agile Fighter type. The Agile Fighter is just my Ranger in Melee.
And indeed, the Healer/Cleric type (my Favourite CLass overall) is lacking! Outrageous!

1. Mage - But only if the game actually got a working magic system, with the opposite its no fun at all(spell spamming, little effect, cheap mass spamming spells over costy uber spells, magic is to weak, etc)
2. Bard
3. Barbarian
4. The "jack" class, i do like em

I like archer/warrior mixes...
Most of the time Rangers are a mix of those so yeah, Ranger for me.

My favourite would be some kind of witch-class, who does crappy damage alone, but has some serious curses, and can do wonders when together with others 
I also like the buffers (healers-meh ), maling my friends able to do more, or knowing that I've saved them, is awesome

Guys don't forget it's not about MMOs...  party-heavy games are a bit of a different thing (i.e. tanks don't do much damage there and such)

It depends entirely on the game you're playing, and what kind of mage you are.
If you are an AOE nuker then sure, you suck against one opponent.
But if you specialise in single focus spike spells you can take down one guy pretty easily, or cripple him with hexes, curses and life draining effects etc.
I just hate classes that are jack of all trades master of none. Versatility is a small consolation for just generally sucking.
