The Winds of Change
The world is changed. I feel it in the water. I feel it in the earth. I smell it in the air.
Have you ever had that peculiar feeling? You just wake up one morning and things feel different, you feel different. I am just one day away from exams but I can't help but look back in this last year and see where I am headed. I have no complaints, it was a good year. Could have been worse, could have been better but I feel I have lost track of a few things, not paid enough attention to others or not done as much as I would have wanted to. Doesn't matter I still have a semester in my university, I know that I will have to change a few things.
Like getting more involved with my father's work, finally get that driving license I keep delaying, refresh my memory on some subjects, make amends to old friends, getting to know better the new ones. Then there's army coming in a year or so, not sure if I'm looking forward to it or hoping to get it over with already. But it's something I will have to do regardless. Guess I'll have to re-evaluate things and adapt a bit.
At any rate I wish you all best of luck in what you have to do. So many things you can look forward to, don't waste your time. Too much

I get that. It's like having a fresh start. Like the future ahead of me is where I hang my hat, and I hang my hat where ever I want! I feel like things will start rolling now, don't you?

Fast-forward a year, time flies doesn't it? My resolutions have more or less been fulfilled and I am satisfied with what I have done since I made this thread. Fully? Obviously not, so much to do so little time  But in the end it comes down to the basics. I am healthy, I have friends I am proud of - here as well as offline - , a family that.. well we don't fight too much  But above all the will be improve, learn new things and the philosophy of enjoying the little things.
My sleep still suffers  But then it is to be expected if you woork till 14:30 and have to leave from 18:00-22:30 for aikido, not much time for yourself is there? Gotta find it somewhere.
Heh that reminds me the time when a friend forced me to have my aura examined with a photographic(?) machine. Not so sure I believe in this stuff but there is something to it. The results were.. bad
Every single one of my chakra were found to be working in reverse, a sign of tiredness and poor health. The woman there who is also a healer was seriously concerned - she's kept im touch with my friend and even asked how I was faring some time ago, she was really spooked. Now having had a devastating schedule last day and a similarly tiring day with 2-3 hours of sleep I was barely standing so the results might have been a tad biased. But even if half of what she said was true I was in deep waters and needed to rethink my sleeping patterns.
Deep down I knew regardless of what she said but it still came as a slap in the face, it was time to start taking care of myself again. In the days that followed I did realize that I was not exactly the person I was in the beginning of the year, I was irritable, impatient, unwilling to read/research new things - instead wasting my time on simple entertainment. I needed a break. Over time I did adjust my schedule while not leaving back anything important and I regained some of my peace of mind.
Right now I am on another break. Last month was hell to endure. Work, work, aikido, aikido and all that under unbearable heat and unbelievable sweating. I swear did not know what sweat was before this summer. It almost felt like my vitality, clarity, everything were bleeding away from me. In a few sessions I felt like I wasn't really there, a shadow of myself. But I had decided that I wanted to work hard and pass these exams hands down. Last time I almost failed and I wanted to be sure of myself. Also.. considering that army is not so far away I wanted to learn as much as was possible and saw the exams as an excuse to improve my training. I was simply determined, sometimes my mentality is that we'll have all the time to sleep when we're dead. Right now, not so much
Now I'm just enjoying my time between work intervals. Unfortunate that my friends ALL decided to leave at the same time but there's always something to do and now they are slowly returning. Next week I'm leaving for a seaside quiet place, will be a nice change of pace. I won't deal with aikido until after my September exams but right now I don't really care, it's nice to let it sink in for a while.
Then there's the matter of army.. I'm in the unfortunate situation where I may join on November OR February - probably the latter - and I have no say in the matter. Now I'd normally like to delay it a little longer if not for two things. Service time may increase on February plus I'd lose my next summer  Neither sounds particularly appealing, oh well.
Anything interesting happen for you this year?

I just watched all the three LotR movies yesterday (again)

Today I was on my way to the army offices to see if my request for extra time had been accepted. And what do you know, after a couple of minutes in the bus they call me to confirm it Guess my goodbye thread will be delayed just a little longer Bear with me eh?

Army service is obligatory here, you get the idea. I'd have to join on the 10th of February but now I can delay at will.

It's obligatory here as well. Had greece been a computer controlled player in a heroes game, I'd lay siege upon it until it'd stop with the stupid forcing ppeople to waste their life on army stuff.

9 month!? So what kind of duty do they force you to? Is it eqivalent to be a street cop for free, some basic training for situations that are irrelevant for 99% or risk of going to war areas?

It involves minimal training, high amount of chores, the occasional march and gaining weight  You might call it a holiday with chores.

Plus you get all kinds of useless skills.
Like assembling an assault rifle with mittens and your eyes closed in under five seconds.
Or how to disarm a man pointing a gun at your face.
Or what's the fastest way to eat hot soup.
And a bunch of stuff I can't tell because it would lead to ahuge uproar if it was found out.
