Joined some storm lord in order to grease him up (so that I can marry his sister) the imbecile decided to siege an insignificant castle (it is really a tower with a moat)
'We' (I was just a soldier in his army) lost 380men and 140 wounded against a garrison of 180 men, it was an utter slaughter, like two of their men held this bridge (I took cover in the nearby village and tried to snipe some of their archers, plus I had a good view of our men getting literally annihilated wave by wave)

Clash of Kings was fun, but the overwhelming bugs made it unplayable for me.
I clocked almost 300 hours into Warband, the quality of the mods is just wow. However, recently I've been shifting to Fire and Sword (and empire total war) and mostly play online, either sniping people with deadly precision or trying to master hand to hand combat, each game I'm either a sexy grenadier (though grenades are expensive or banned in most games  ) or an equally sexy dragoon..
I've also given single player a go (haven't played it since September) and I must say that I'm having great fun, and the fact that I can't transfer my character means that I'm forced to start from scratch, which is nice I guess. However, character creation is NOWHERE near as good as warband (with its mods) nor are the mods for the game, yet it's one of the only games I have at my disposal to sate my hunger. (new phase)

I've been playing a multiplayer mod called Persistent frontier for quite some time, it's amazing, but just recently found out how ridiculously overpowered cavalry archers are (I mean I knew they were OP in warband, but here nobody has ever made it known) so I was shocked to find that most people don't play as native indians, or when they do they either go for musketeer classes or are plain **** archers. (even more so on horseback).
Here's a couple of reasons why it is overpowered even MORE in PF:
- Bows are cheap as all hell and arrows are free and in infinite stock.
- Bows are extreeeeemely accurate ( think they put accuracy to 95-100)
- Good fire rate, especially compared to muskets that take YEARS to reload, and decent damage. (2 shots to chest to kill and head shots are insta kills)
- Can be used from a full moving horse and still retain most of the accuracy.

In my mod, ranged weapons will be nerfed and take on a more supportive role.
Ideal would be to have scripts that cause combat penalties for taking damage along with realistically low damage from all weapons but I have no such scripts...

Random thoughts
Mount & Blade 2 should have this system:
Pre-battle:
- Ability to assign any units into squads that can be selected as a group in combat. Their formations and combat attitude can all be set before hand, e.g. pikes forward with bowmen behind.
In-battle:
Press Enter at any time to zoom out from your character and watch the battle from above in an RTS esque view, time can be set to either be in real-time, slow down or stop in this mode, depending on what difficulty level you prefer. From this perspective, orders can be given to squads in Total War style.
Would be awesome to have this level of control imo. Imagine for example, to zoom out and set your horse archers to run in circles around an isolated enemy squad in just a few quick clicks and then zoom back in and continue slaughtering with your character.
You could also attract new fans with this kinda control, as some players might just prefer to ignore the player combat and take on a more general-like role at the back of combat.

I would absolutely love that pre-battle idea.
I would also absolutely hate that RTS style. Part of Mount&Blade's charm is the closer to realism combat tactics aspect.

I would also like all that but the Pre-battle thingy already exists as a mod. Although it is too bothersome to use for my taste.
A TWish overview and squad control especially would be really strategically sweet as you mentioned.

@Joonas: Maybe the squads are enough actually. I guess what you mean with "closer to realism" style is that you actually have to move around to give orders?
I think I actually disagree with myself here, I changed my mind. If you add the RTS aspects then micromanagement will become too dominant and make you disconnected from the personal combat as it's no longer a priority to haul ass yourself at all.

Yeah a mod like floris already has very sexy graphics and ****ton of extra features like troop trees and pre battle tactical planning, as well as assigning a second in command. Also loving the new mercenary system where you can join a lord and rank up from a peasant to a knight. (like normal units do)

The micromanagement is what would be terrible about RTS view but I would still like a smarter version of the current tactical thingy so that you get to play as a general as well as a soldier. A massive AI improvement could make sure that you would be able to give simple but effective commands.
And Freelancer sure is awesome. Hopefully I can add that to my mod at some point unless it is too hard.

Yeah, You're the commander on the field so you need to be there to give those orders. This is the middle ages so you don't have EVA or high-level radio transmitters to relay them for you.
You could technically have a messenger or flags to signal other groups though.
But having pre-battle plans and squad structure would be most appreciated. Simply go hide beyond that hill or scout behind there would make wonders for the tactics.

Edit: Oh, I see the TaleWorlds page has been changed. So exciting! And precicely on the announcement anniversity! EXCITED!!!
Edit2: Man, those media section images are turning me on... 
Looks like we are going to get some roman/byzantine empire action and it is funny how there are countless of mods having similar declining old calradian empire setting. But I am glad that we get to remain in Calradia as Calradia ROCKS! And I would not mind if they change the map a little so that it looks better and more natural than in Warband. They did a radical change from original MB so why not now?

Playing Brytanwalda as a badass raider/looter but with a touch of honour, I've made a sexy Greyjoy banner with a black cloth with a golden kraken as a sigil, started the game by having a small band of veterans since I got VERY lucky and rescued 30 franks from bandits, (they're essentially tanks). Anyway, lost most of them and most of my army very foolishly, after battle you can burn the dead and loot the battlefield which takes 3 hours, while I was doing this a roving army speedily attacked me, it was something like 350 vs my 91 men, I lost 50 good men and managed to flee.
Anyway, with serious lack of recruitment opportunities I decided to finally buy a ship and raid the coastlands of my enemies. Things went very well, even managed to loot a few churches, lost a man here and there to the bloody peasants, but nothing major, also the looting of churches pissed off Christian factions so I raided those as-well. I got very lucky again and found a roving bandit group of around 50 men carrying 70 prisoners, most were crap but I needed whatever I could take, so now I have a nice little army and a decent amount of gold, looking to take a lightly guarded coastal fort so that I can carry on raiding. (you can only have 90 men on a single ship, if you want to carry armies then you must hire ships which are can be very costly on long voyages and I believe that they follow set routes)
The reason why I mentioned a "touch of honour" is because I accidentally enslaved a few villages causing my honour to plummet (understatement) as well as a few shady things, but despite this I acted honourably in other situations such as burials and treating prisoners with dignity, and acted similarly in various other random events.

Consists of about 35 factions, a lot of nice random events that can have some annoying but somewhat fun consequences (like a roving army trying to hunt you down because you said the wrong thing TT).
The main feature that I love though is the fully fleshed out ship fighting, extremely well done. Picture of me on my ship <3.

I've hit an amazing Teutonic/Templar phase, I'm just downloading textures and meshes from all over the place and putting them into PoP.
Also, any of you guys play Persistent World/Age/frontier? (3 different online MMO type mods)

Woah, you already have that picture on this side of the thread.
I couldn't find your mod download, so I simply assumed that it wasn't done yet. (couple of days ago) So I've been copy pasting meshes from mods like PA and Floris. (floris is nice since it has a lot of small stuff from around the place)
Also just finished my custom Teutonic banner that I will use in my faction.
