Random Map Chooser

Unfortunately for many players H4 doesn't have random Map Generator which would be very useful especially in online games. Therefore on The Kings Legue site I created script allowing to draw a map from given list:

H4Util is very good RMG for Heroes IV. You only must replace scripts txt because it crashing if you generate X and XL maps.

Tried once. It generates awful maps - confirmed by others.

Try again. You can change controls. There are mistakes but in Heroes III RMG to. You can edit in map ed. failed things. H4U generated for me good map. It failed only tree which blocked castle. Apart from this map is very good.

I am playing only multiplayer and I don't think this generate good map for such game.

if anyone has just the slightest knowledge about modding, I think the RMG could become reality. I've just discussed this with a fellow fan, who's a programmer. But he basically needs to know how the game lists objects. If anyone knows anything about this matter, don't hesitate to post..

Good news. They can see at HIVutil and for campaign editor? What is the problem?
Can you tell programist about modding defs in Heroes IV? Its very important to build program to packing df2(h4d). Can they build? Its most important.

Any actual maps generated? The ability to set 25% or 50% swamp terrain is the least relevant feature to deal with.

I don't think he's reached that point just yet. Or maybe He has, but there's still some figuring out to do, regarding reading/determining exact location. Regarding swamp terrain and the likes, I guess all comments are appreciated, but he might as well set the same options for swamp terrain as well as other terrain types, and then the map maker can choose not to make use of it, rather than having limitation in certain areas. You never know if 1 out of a 100 map makers wants to do a map which is +75% swamp terrain.

Nothing generated yet, still working out how .h4c files are organized and getting code in place to read them in. I post my progress in the thread Karmakeld mentioned.

Also, as Karmakeld mentioned, just because something might not be useful to everyone, doesn't mean I'm going to leave things functionally incomplete. If I have the option for some of the terrain types, why would I not have it for others? Maybe someone would be interested in generating a swamp map because of the effect it would have on a player's movement?

If you have thoughts and feedback for this project, you are more than welcome to share them in that thread and I'd love to hear them.

CTPAHHuK, this H4 map generator isn't an Equilibris project and is not linked with the Equilibris team, although it is great to see the progress.
