Thats OK. Maybe the thread should be renamed then, because the "vs" is quite generalizing the opinions.

Maybe not the best music genres to compare? Classic has developed over centuries, while rock is pretty "new".

nonsense, rock has developed out of other genres, just like classic has...you have to remember, beign correctly (as far as i know) "true" classic is only one era of the music that most people woudl see as classical, for they mostly also include Romanticism, etc. (or so I have in the back of my mind from the days when I still at school^^) it just was a slower development then, because of the slower technical development an dsocial etc...ecverything deverlops faster nowadays, so does the music

Jiriki, I don't think that is what he meant. I think he meant that Classical has been around for hundreds of eyars whereas rock has only been around since the 30's or so.

I would have to say that Classical is one of the least interesting styles of music, ever.

Sure it's hard to do, but lots of things are hard to do that doesn't mean I want to listen to them in my spare time.

I slightly disagree, I know a lot of things less interesting than classical music: Physics, Poems (oh geez, that's at top), Chemistry, Economics, Painting (a photo is much more precise), Computer language, and many others. Let's put classical music among all those.

He said one of the most boring musical "styles" not boring "things".

I completely disagree. Classical music is one of the most interesting and variable music styles on the planet. Bach, Wagner, Mozart, Verdi, Vivaldi, Brahms, Händel, Tchakovsky... they all sound completely different as it is, and many different variations of ONE piece of classical music can be found throughout the world. (Beethoven's Sixth Symphony will sound completely different when conducted by Simon Rattle rather than James Levine, for instance)

If you want a music style that is repetitive and uninteresting, I'd gladly redirect you to the back of the room... there's a stand called "RAP" (Right between the "R&B" and "Sing-along-song" stands) You can't miss it.

Slow down there. Computer Languages/Programming and Physics can be interesting for me.

Anyway, I pretty much agree with Lexxan

Interests, hobbies and tastes are strongly subjective things. Nobody have right to say: something is boring, only in the meaning - something is boring for him.
