Do you know what part of the .exe controls the number of towns? I want to make it one more, is this possible?

You know, pleople tried it for years and no one suceeded. Hex editing is not a good way to create complex mods.

lol that kinda sucks. I wonder if anyone has contacted Ubisoft about releasing the source code for the old 3do games. It's not like they use anything but the namesake in the continuing series anyways. Guess it's back to replacing Conflux then...

U can convince Ubisuck with 1.3 Billions USD, equal to the price they bought MM and HoMM series.

I mean they don't use the same engine or anything so it's no loss to them or anything to release it. And more hype for old heroes = more sales for new heroes, maybe, dunno it would never happen but would be cool.

Okay, so I'm trying to figure out how to change 2 things manually since the auto-installers keep messing things up. I want to change:
1. the main menu background
2. the image that represents experience points (and potentially other similar images as well. Haven't had the time to fully explore all the things that the NIM installer misses on my fresh installs of era1.81 but somehow does fine on the standalone HoL3.1)
Can anyone help me figure out how to do this? I understand how to work the editing software, just don't know where to look to change these things.

Unpack any wog-archive and open h3bitmap.txt. These strings should exist.

Okay, sorry I'm posting so often but this is rrreeeaaalllyyy bugging me. I've looked everywhere in my .lod files and everywhere outside of them as well for the experience icon depicted here:
This icon replaces the old exp icon but I simply cannot for the life of me find where it is. For whatever reason the NIM2 auto-installer does not add this to my fresh copy of WOG+ERA1.81v4 but it does add it to the standalone HoL3.1 and I want to just manually add it,but you can't add what you can't find. If anyone knows where the experience icon is normally stored pleeeease let me know.

When opening H3sprite.lod with MM archive, search for interface in the menu. Then browse all defs until you find the def you need. MM plays the defs automatically.

Thanks a lot salamandre, was using resedit instead of MM archive and so I didn't see all the images in the defs. But, happy as I am to find it I have a whole new problem now... the image is the one I want it to be. when I play it's the old one but it's in the .lod as the new one... is there some form of cache file I have to annihilate in order for it to use this image or what? I'm so confused now, thought if I found and swapped the image in the .lod it would automatically revert to that image but it doesn't look like that's the problem.

Adding a pcx inside H3sprite.lod will do nothing, you have to replace the whole def. You should read this thread first pages before.

I'm not incompetent salamandre, I promise I accidentally opened the .lod for the HoL3.1 instead of the one I wanted to fix. Found it, replaced it with the one I wanted and now it's working like I want it to. starting to become very interested in modding HOMM3. Used to mod custom Halo PC maps but this is entirely different.
