ICTC5 The Deck

The Deck aka The Mirror Fiends

"To harness the subtle layer of emotions, inevitability and unexpectability"

Capital - Luster, The Mirror Gem
Hero - Mirror Sage
Racial skill - Mirror sight

Basic Mirror sight
At the start of its action, the unit already knows whether it will have luck/bad luck/morale. It can resign from the benefits from those bonuses and pass it down to next friendly stack in the que. It also grants an ability to foresee what bonus will have the next friendly creature. If it already has :

Luck and youre passing down luck - It will deal additional +50% dmg
Bad luck and youre passing down luck - It will deal normal dmg
Bad luck and youre passing down bad luck - It will deal -75% of dmg
Morale and youre passing down morale - It will act twice without the gap between actions like in normal morale triggering
Bad morale and youre passing down morale - It will act normally

Advanced Mirror sight
Now you can see the lucky/morale actions on next two units and choose which one of them will acquire the bonus.

Expert Mirror sight
Now you can see the lucky/morale actions on next three units and choose which one of them will acquire the bonus.

Perks

Enemy's approaching

Mirror zeal
The cap for obtaining luck/morale (as well bad luck/morale) is increased by 1 point (max 6[60%]).

Mark of the Sage
Once per combat Mirror Sage can place a mark on any unit on the field, switching his luck and morale to their opposites.(bad luck into luck, morale into bad morale etc)

Ultimate - Luster blow
Any lucky attack kills 50% of enemies numbers.

Introduction

1 Chapter - The portal

Thinking that world is divided only into material or elemental plane is the worst mistake, which Mirror Sages are trying to correct. Suffocated and unleashed emotions creates its own plane of existence, which is home of powerful beings fueled by sheer feelings such as hatred or joy. Mortal cannot see them as they are too concetrated on material things. Necromancers are trying to harness death, wizards magic and so on. Nobody cares about the subtle layer of beings made of pure mind reactions.

Mirrors were always connected with spiritual plane. They were claimed as the only thing which can show the real nature of things. Objects of hatred, sorrow, joy, desire and satisfaction - the reflection. Such strong emotions had to leave a mark on mirrors. With the time theyve gained the same use as do bodies have for souls - containers of the emotions. Manifestating their existence the ghosts of mirrors often led ordinary beings to insanity, only entities powerful enough, could see them. But they were often mistaken with ordinary, lost souls, sealed for eternity in mirror reflections.

Everything changed with accidentally discovering new branch of magic by son of famous dwarven heroine Inga, Rorrim.

Rorrim and his wife led a peaceful scholars life in Freywar, full of work on upgrading new alchemic formulas which could make some use in dwarven craftsmanship. During one of common infusing procedures, Rorrim made a horrible mistake which consuqence was an instant death of his beloved one.

Rorrims lunacy drove him into looking for help even in necromancers domain, but neither dark nor light arts couldnt provide any help.

During one of many lonely nights, Rorrim heard a whispers coming out of Jena's room. With words in his head he couldnt understand he found his wifes greatest treasure - an old, magnificent mirror made of huge piece of shiny onyx. Voices were coming not only from it. The whole room of his dwarven dwelling was forged in giant piece of runic stone. Thanks to his mothers blood, Rorrim could understand the calling of runes who were tired of his insanity and sorrow. The giant onyx showed the reflection of his wife as she comforted him and said she's fine in Arkath's domain and will be waiting for him.

That caused Rorrims soul the biggest suffering as he was blaming dwarven God for all his pain. Using all his strenghts which he had left, he created a powerful necromantic glyph on the onyx mirror, due to his high knowledge gained from searching for the right resurrecting charm. Fueled by the rest of his rune - made house, mirror became a portal between two planes. The magic sucked Rorrim into the Deck world, never letting him to return.

2 Chapter - The summoning

The odd energy created by mirror attracted an old, wandering druid who abandoned Irollan seeking true balance after the horrible events of Queen Isabel's war. He visited almost every place on Ashans surface, seeking the answers to his questions as he couldnt cope with the simple choice between good and evil. He gained as much knowledge as he could, becoming a student of wizards from Silver Cities, gathering dangerous incantations from dark elves libraries or working with priests from Bulls Duchy. In the end he was interested in runic magic considering its power as the most pure force fueled by the planet itself. Hungry for power wizards and dark elves, fanatic humans were the total opposition of simply devoted and hard working dwarfs.

During his stay in Freywar, tbc

Artificial bodies, fueled by mirror fiends, create a new faction - The Deck. Truly neutral, they appear whenever the restoration of balance is needed.

I just had one of those insomnia nights and thought about ICTC so draw them as fast as possible. I hope I'll be able to redesign them a bit and add some details/colours.

My GF is not wasting air! But anyways I actually like how the pictures are "far from perfection" The fact that the units are so abstract, like something you can't really touch or really understand, makes them creepy.

I don't want to step on your toes with this, but if your going for the creepy feel then I would suggest you keep them kind of abstract and "poorly drawn".

@Golemcrafter - yeah I was thinking about them when drawing the 'Solituder' but walking cards ? That would be too much

i have a few suggestions, if i may.

Tier 7 - Tormented King:

The King levitates, he keeps his true face under a mask. The King has a long crown and a sharp cuirass armor. The King´s skin is pale white, only his hands are stained in blood. The lower part of his body cut off leavning his guts levitating with him. Whenever he attacks, he does it with his guts. The mask is a skull with remains of flesh and blood and he has to use his 2 hands to hold it. It is said that when enemies see the King´s true face they have an instant flash of all their fears and some are known to have gone mad.

Abilities:
Mirror aura: all creatures adjacent to the King gain magic resistance.

King of Sorrow:

The King looks like its falling apart and his skin looks like sand.

Abilities:
Mirror aura
Sorrow´s ray: Can cast adv. sorrow twice dealing half the normal dmg at distance.
Nightmare Feast:The King feeds on bad morale units to gain above normal HP.

King of Pain:
Pain Feast: The King feeds on the hits of enemies to regain mana.
Spellcaster: casts mirror image on any creature in the battlefield.
Shooter.
