Isn't that quite an extreme slibery slope?

Though somehow it reminds me with how it goes with competing stores here in Denmark. If one store set a price on milk for 4 kr. the others stores in the area (eventhough they're competitors) will soon follow. However if you one travels a couple of cities away you'll see the old prices and a few months later these stores will follow as well.

go hard.

I spammed units and made no attempt to micro and won most missions on normal.

And i do agree on why it's bad that it costs 60$. Other companies will soon follow suit.

It's just like ditching lan and having to log on for single player and ditching split screen among console games.

It's a bad direction but the majority doesn't give a rats ass so the few people who did like those features... they aren't even really features. They are standards in the industry.

I played a game against the very easy ai. Four of em.

They didn't attack first until about 20 minutes into the game with attacks every 3-5 minutes. the attacks consist of exactly a hydralisk, a mutalisk, a roach and two zerglings. i spied on them with orbital commands to discover that they have built multiple ultralisk dens and have a pile of larva.

Their attacks are puny. They retreat after sustaining one or two casualties or after i sustain one or two casualties.

One computer even offered to surrender after i destroyed his attack force. I lol'd so hard.

It SERIOUSLY picks up though. On hard I had to retry several missions, and against hard opponent they will have (roughly) 6 zealots 2 stalkers, 10 Zerglings and 4 roaches or 8 marines and some unit I killed to fast to see like 6 min into the game. And they will repeat that roughly again at 8 and 10 min. I haven't done brutal or insane yet, but hard was already significantly past casual, and I'm good. Also getting gold on psionic assault, opening gambit, and the ghost challenges was hard, several hours for each of those for me.

Starcraft 2 is now revealed to have been the fastest selling strategy game of all time and best selling PC game of 2010.

But will Cataclysm beat Starcraft 2? WotLK was the fastest selling game of all time. One of the goals of Cataclysm it to bring back old players to test the new WoW and my opinion is that Cataclysm will break WotLKs record. If only China were not stuck in Burning Crusade.

I think SC2 will still be the most selling game this year - catalysm might bring new stuff, but I think that SC2 has been way more expected and people wanted to play that more than start playing WoW again

Diablo 3 will the downer though

Well, the minimum specs are:

2.6 Ghz Pentium IV or equivalent AMD Athlon processor.
128 MB PCIe NVIDIA GeForce 6600 GT or ATI Radeon 9800 PRO video card or better.
12 GB HD space
1 GB ram (1.5 if you use Vista or Windows 7, 2 GB if you're using a Mac)

Y...e...a...h.
I can't even run it on my computer...I have to install it on my dad's computer (he had to slash and burn the hard drive because it went AWOL spontaneously.

What computer BTW?

My comments:
Pentium 4 is a singlecore CPU, that is ridiculessy old. A modern singlecore with 2,1 GHz CPU is a lot faster.
9800 was a good GPU <3 But its starting to get old T.T
12 GB of space, is it waisted like the usual games does it?
1GB of ram? You can barely run a computer with that
I am sort of glad they did not use a newer shader model, I could boot up my old computer laying around to play it.
BTW: Does this spec mean to run it at 800x600 at lowest settings and getting a framerater higher than 30, or is it otherwise?

Interisting, seems the scripting potensial is a lot higher than the old WC3 engine.
The fact it does not contain ridicules delay and some other things can make the map scene quite interesting.

I've got

e4600 clocked at 3.0GHz
2GB DDR2 800
ati radeon x1600 pro 512MB on AGP clocked at 600 core and 450 memory

Otherwise runs fine if I select the right settings, leaving the GPU heavy stuff out except I run out of memory all the time. And it doesn't seem to be using more than 1.1 GB of memory but it fills the kernel memory. I managed to make it playable by turning off antivirus and increasing the size of paged pool memory but it still near freezes sometimes when there's a lot of people on screen. Not always, but sometimes.

BTW. finished it on brutal twice. Just beat it with my friend yesterday, choosing all the opposite options.

PS. Spectres suck, ghosts rule.

@del_diablo: Well, my computer is below minimum specs for the CPU and the memory. My dad's is below that for memory.

As I've noticed, you can make up for low amounts of memory easily...it's the CPU you need to be fast. With that said, I'll need to get more memory soon.

Anyways, and this goes aimed at Cepheus specifically, and everyone else in general:

I've played through about 11 missions in the campaign, and I have to say that the plot is vastly more enjoyable than SC1. As most people have pointed out in various forums, SC1's missions are mainly: You have a small army, your opponent has a large army. Beat him/her anyways. In SC2, the variation in missions is incredible, although most of them have time limits, whether literally or hidden in the way the mission itself plays.

The campaign is quite enjoyable, although I still hold by my initial pre-play opinion that it's not very innovative. Most of the concepts in this game have been done before. So yeah, bad sequel, good game.

With that said, the part that most worries me is the direction Blizzard (and by extended result, the rest of the videogame industry giants) is taking. They eliminated LAN to force you to play through Bnet 2. They can cite piracy, but truth be told, there are plenty of games that have less spartan DRM schemes and sell quite a bit. The fact that more people aren't worried about the future of videogames as the following is insanely worrisome to me: You don't own it, you have a license for it to play it over MY server, however the <censored> I want. Don't like it? Tough.
(Blizzard's already halfway there...all they have to do now is make Diablo III with Ubisoft style DRM; that is, have to be connected to play anything, all the time.)

Whatever happened to listening to the fans? More importantly, it's a disturbing tendency. I shouldn't have to connect more than once during the lifetime of the install of my game (and that once is for the online activation, which I'll grant is a valid form of DRM) to the Internet just to play SINGLE-PLAYER. -_-

Also, they really should've kept LAN in. Here's to hoping they change their mind sometime down the road (perhaps when their $$$ projections are less in the green).
