The most powerful lvl 1 creature

What lvl 1 creature do you consider the best?Personally I think skeleton warrior because they have the greatest attack and defense for lvl 1.Also the centaur captain is a good creature because he's fast and have high hp and attack.

In the game. Most often the skeleton is what will be a pain to most opponents, not because the skeleton in itself are strong, but because its high numbers.

In a 100 vs. 100 with wait and stack split, there's no doubt the centaur captain is strongest.

Yet the Halbedier, being clearly the most powerful in term of stats except speed, can take down any level 1 opponent in a 100 vs. 100 stack splitted and waiting opponent level 1, except the Centaur Captain, is really a powerhouse this way and therefore the best stat-wise level 1 in everything except speed.

The sprite has an awesome advantage in map clearing against certain critters because of its high speed and no retaliation, unique properties for low level units.

The familiar and imp in general are also useful for the inferno as fodder.

The master gremlin, especially with frenzy, is a very good shooter, though often not worth that much against the player in the late game, they can quickly do a difference early on.

So in terms of power, including speed, I'd say it goes something like this: [100 vs. 100 splitted stacks with waiting]
#1 Centaur Captain
#2 Halbedier
#3 Sprite

Don't remember the rest

In terms of power, without including speed [100 vs. 100, no wait and no splitted stacks]
#1 Halbedier
#2 Centaur Captain

Don't remember the rest

However in useability for their towns, my subjective opinion goes like this:
#1 Skeleton warrior (useful through the entire game and a main force)
#2 Familiar (useful as demon fodder through the entire game)
#3 Master Gremlin (early shooter for the Tower, useful to early + mid game)
#4 Sprite (useful early in the game via attack and retreat)

Though, as I'm certain gnoll king is gonna vote for the gnoll maradeur, I've decided to vote for the hobgoblin!

Heretic!
And now that you mentioned it, I will vote for Gnoll, not the Marauder.
Reason for this, is that the upgrade costs more (20 gold), and the creature itself gets only 1 speed, 1 attack, and 1 defense, + the dwelling costs 10 wood to upgrade. There's no sense upgrading the dwelling for so little bonuses. The Gnoll itself is very good for level 1 creature, good defense.
So, I'll vote for Gnoll!

I believe the comment was in the sense that it provides two different kinds fo advantages, one being a cheap and fast crit, allows for covering greater areas faster; other that in very larg numbers, will strike opponents without realiation, which is always a nuisance, and sometimes makes us attacking it, which diverts attacks on other, higher level creatures.

Are you sure you have played this game more than ONE time as of yet? 1000 (!!) Skeleton Warriors (in 1 stack) will lose vs ONE Sprite every time!

I'm a fan of Shakti

So my favorite lv1 is trogs, trogs Infernal Troglodyte, I know that fews know its power, but...

However, each lv1 creature except imp has its advantage... I like skeletons, halberdiers, centaurs, Master Gremlins, Sprites,... but Imps suck! I think imp is useless, 9 imp for a demon and no more than 100 imps (and few Pit Lord) in week 1, what can we do?

Why on earth would you fly your Sprite into Skelly attack range?

Well slow + forcefield + damaging spell + sufficient mana should do the trick.

Then again, sufficient damaging spell alone would do the trick.

Though the computer would probably divide the sprites into 7 stacks as 1000 sprites are considered much more powerfull than 1 skeleton warrior, so setting up a fire wall and otherwise using berzerk should also be sufficient to a large degree I guess.

Force Field won't work as there will be an opening for the sprites to attack.

Best level one in SOD is undoubtedly the sprite. High numbers, excellent speed, no retaliation - you can easily kill almost any walker with those in week 1. Not to mention what you can kill with mass slow, spirit of opression and enough mana points.

Troglodytes with Shakti are also quite powerful, as are skeletons with Galthran. Centaurs are also good in combination with elves.

And you believed that?

That's why slow is used in combination. One does know the rounds slow will last, so it's rather easy to make sure there never is an opening.

Surely, but the problem with sprites is that, only walkers limits you extremely and it's only good in the early game, as you proceed, you're soon changing focus from neutral monsters to other players where sprites hit&run tactics won't work, unless they're unprepared.
That limits the usefulness of sprites in general quite a lot.

"slow" just limits the opposing creature's speed, it doesn't remove it's fly ability One always knows the round slow ends - the rounds slow lasts are equal to one's spell power + one's artefacts, if one can't count to that number - one should play else

The problem with sprites is that they are owerpowered, they can beat anything week 1 - walkers are a joke, shooting enemies are easier with sprites and if a player is "focused" - it's always with pants down and looking for something on the ground

I don't remember if an attacker starts at an odd or even 'square' in respect to forcefield, but unless a slowed sprite can reach the top in 3 turns, which I doubt, it should be no problem to move the skeleton warrior and then place a force field that fits, so the flying quality doesn't matter.

So let's see - you want exp. earth, slow, force field, a nice group of sceletons, some nice magic hero with magic arrow at least - to beat the sprites... and they're weak

What to you prefer to battle day 1 for a chest - horde of scelies or horde of sprites?
