NY Yankees

Hey, how about that Yankee game last night. They're losing 9-7 to the Red Sox in the bottom of the 9th, then A-Rod hits a 2-run homer to tie it and then Thames hits a 2-run homer to win it 11-9. And it was against Boston's closer, Papelbon, to boot. Woo-Hoo!

That's funny. Outside America, I believe that soccer is the most popular sport in the world, but it's not popular here. Yes, I know you call it football, but since we have another game called football, we call it soccer.

Baseball is mostly an American sport. It's also popular in Japan and the Dominican Republic. Cuba too, but the Cubans can't come here, unless they escape by raft, which a few of them did.

I've been a Yankee fan since I was a little boy, so it's ingrained in me. I love it.

So do they have the American Football over at the other parts of the world?

Not that I know of, LOL. Football really seems to be uniquely American.

They have Rugby in Europe and they think American football is for sissies because they don't wear protection (helmets, shoulder pads, etc.) when playing Rugby, but they do in football.

Cricket is also popular outside America, but not here. Here, it's basically Baseball, Football, Basketball, and Hockey.

Ah, I see. Talk about irony...

But as far as respect is concerned though, I have high regards for different cultures as I believe we're uniquely different from each other but are equally great.

For instance, why do Kenyans always win the Marathon now. haha

Definitely, but that doesn't make them any more superior than other cultures, I guess, generally. It's like saying "Everyone's good at something but no one's good at everything."

Well it's just an opinion.

As I've said before, things can get pretty vicious here at the OSM. Yeah, but I'm used to it. Comes at no surprise at all.

I remember I liked Tampa Bay when I was a kid.

Seriously, which kid wouldn't.

My old man and grandpa sometimes watch it, it airs occasionally here.

I never really got into it or understood all the fascination, though.

I thought you were good at everything, LOL. I mean, you know about Miley Cyrus and all.

@mamgaeater: They became rivals because they're so close to one another. There wasn't such a big rivalry when they both first started. The whole thing really started with the "Curse of the Bambino" when the Red Sox traded Babe Rurh to the Yankees in 1919. At that time the Red Sox had won the most World Series and the Yankees hadn't won any. After they traded Ruth, the Yankees won 26 World Series and the Red Sox won none over the next 86 years.

There was a rain delay, so tonight's game started an hour late. They're playing the Red Sox again.

Are there any other Yankee fans here?

Most popular sport down here in Australia is a sport called AFL otherwise known as Aussie Rules or Australian Football League. Interestingly, it is 4th in the world for average attendances in a game.

I don't mind NFL but I love how Americans feel the need to call other games for pussies and all that considering that most other sports such as Rugby Union, Rugby League and AFL (both League and AFL are in Australia) don't wear any protection and AFL, out of all of them, is the most physically demanding and people get hurt A LOT because it's a more physical sport. For those who like NFL, should youtube some AFL.

A few aussies are doing well in the NFL such as Ben Graham and Saverio Rocca. Sav's brother, Anthony, who played for my favourite team in the AFL, is thinking about following in his brothers footsteps and stepping up to NFL, and yes, he's a massive kick of the ball as well.
