If you like a challenge, you'll love Energy Weapons; just run the heck the other way if you see a Giant Radscorpion. Those things got incredibly tough, I thought I could kill them just as easily as in FO3 first time I saw one. Boy, was I surprised.
The hunting rifle's actually way better in this game than it was in Fallout 3; in 3 it was an early-game weapon, in NV it seems to be a higher-tier gun. The Varmint Rifle has taken it's place as the default early-game firearm.

It wasn't just an early game weapon, it was a early game/mid game/end game weapon.
Good damage, easy as hell to repair, plenty of ammo. Only con was its looks.

Really? Guess I should have used it more, I remembered it as being kinda crappy. To be fair, I used mainly energy weapons once I got my hands on a Plasma Rifle though. Oh, for the days when they were actually good...

Obsidian has confirmed energy weapons being powered up in the next patch.
Until then we can use this.
Pffft... as usual when I order something some company screws it up... I ordered the game on monday and apparently I'm getting it next week... 2 day delivery my ass...

Ahhhh, that sucks. 
You might want to check out this mod: New Vegas is full of invisible walls that make hills you would be able to scale effortlessly in FO3 completely insurmountable. This mod gets rid of most of them, it's a godsend.

@Adrius thanks, also a mod I need, haven't used energy weapons that much yet, but now maybe it will be more enjoyable.

Regular energy weapons do need a step up.
Special ones, not so much.
Oh and make the damn gatling laser more common, in 6 games ive seen it ONCE being sold in the BoS bunker

The Brotherhood Quartermaster is broken anyways, she doesn't refresh her inventory. It's set to non-respawning in the GECK. Here's hoping they fix that.

Haven't even heard of those .. hm .. well, yeah. 100% naturally.
It really helps that the exact friend I have the bet with is a collector, and has like 700 games I bet he could find those for me.

Simple solution, move it outside to the cold.
I can get my CPU 400MHz higher and stable OC if I just move my machine to the balcony where it's -15. Should take care of your little overheating problems too, only issue might be the laptop screen, it might freeze.
