You obviously didn't have access to the gamecube version.

I obviously did, then after they ported it to the PC I fired it up(after maxing graphics) with a friend and our first reactions were along the lines of: "My god what is wrong with this," soon followed by: "Didn't there use to be fog here?"
Googling for a while and downloading/installing mods for an hour or so it looked proper again.

The lighting/fog actually does affect the game experience quite a bit, especially since PS2/PC version didn't have proper lighting everything was made really bright so you could see. In the Gamecube/modded PC version places are much darker because your light actually works instead of being just eye candy.

Textures only bother people like me. Though they bother me quite a bit. First time I saw Dead Space 3 on XBox 360 I was like, wut? How can that look so fricking bad. Some of the environmental textures are PS2 quality.

resident evil 4 and god of war 2 look pretty damn good too for PS2 games. I also remember metal gear solid 3 looking quite impressive, but I didn't play it in a long time.

getting near the end of black, I'm under the impression that graphics become less good. the bridge level didn't look that impressive. it also had far less destructible stuffs than previous levels.

Currently playing some Final Fantasy tactics. Been wanting to play the game for quite some time, but previous attempts had me give up cause I kept losing the first battle, mostly cause I didn't know about placing units. Some reading up and I'm back into it, only have a few hours gameplay. I like the way they use the job system, in that if I have one Monk, everyone get a slight amount of experience as a monk. Also, both my white mage and my black mage have become makeshift red mages, cause I can let them do that. After looking up a little about the classes, I'm training a thief so I can get myself a dragoon. I have however noticed that most of the time I have just about no idea what I'm doing.

Ok, so I was bored and I remembered that I used to love Yu-gi-oh when I was little, so I decided to download the Yu-gi-oh GX rom and play it on the VBA emulator.
That's it.

I'm doing pretty well so far.

I had GX duel academy on PS2, played a Clown deck which was pretty sweet. Clown creatures activate their abilities when they switch from ATK to DEF position, so you use Gravity cards to switch up the whole battlefield and destroy the whole field. Fun, different kinda way to play.

AI was stupid as hell though, only hard one to fight was the Cyber dude cuz Cyber Dragon decks are OP as **** in that version. ****ing fusions and overdrive fusions and fusion fields and fusion fusion cyberfusions into CYBER END PREPARE YOUR BODY EDITION FUSION.

Jaden sucks bad, his equip cards are so insanely specific and his fusions unreliable. He's like the original Yugi, has cool combos but relies on drawing the perfect card for the moment which is impossible without TV dramatic "heart of the cards" effect ^^

If I recall correctly in my version there were top versions of Jaden towards the end where he had an optimized Hero deck which was pretty cool though.

I had Yu-Gi-Oh World Championship tournament 2004 for my GBA, fun as heck game. I had a deck that relied almost completely on spell cards. I had stuffed as many royal decrees and Guardian sphinxes in there as I could, so I'd have a higher chance of drawing those cards, after both were out, no one stood a chance against me.

Just about every game I started with one of those in my hand, I usually wanted the royal decree up first, cause then they couldn't remove my Sphinx. I did also have a few monster reborns, just in case they used Dark Hole or Raigeki or something like that.

Civilization V:  I got sneak-attacked by Japan when I was playing as Morocco.  It was devastating yet, in hindsight, foreseeable.  I tried again as Brazil and Assyria did the same thing.

Saints Row: The Third:  Just beat it; loved the endings.  Such a hokey game.  I picked up the entire game (DLC and all) for $7.50 on a Steam sale and enjoyed it immensely.

Saints Row IV:  This is why I bought the Third.  The premise was so fantastic I simply could not resist buying the game.  I have only been able to play an hour due to a midnight release and I won't have much time on my lunch break due to a blasted hearing at 1:00 PM I need to attend, but I plan on wasting many hours tonight on it.

Teleglitch:  I have only played it for a little bit.  Very hard rogue-like game.  I have made very little progress on it.  The graphics take a bit to get used to as well.

Borderlands 2:  Been slogging through it again.  Some times I'm on a double date with my wife and friends, and others I'm solo.  The psycho DLC has been a lot of fun and I'm enjoying his random phrases.

@City: I had a similar Deck deck with Exxod, Master of the Guard. His effect inflicts 1000 (!)  lifepoint damage every you activate a flip-effect monster.

I also packed cards in there that forced my enemy to attack cards like Exxod who has 4000 DEF, which could be pretty hilarious.

Interesting to play... Defensive Rock Burn deck With Canyon field spell you double all damage due to attacking a high-DEF monster too mwaahaha

Part of my strategy is also to simply throw out a final destination and store a few dark holes in my hand until my opponent loses.

Though it's a very old-gen Yu-Gi-OH game, I know just about nothing about field spells and stuff, the most fancy I had was fusion cards.

War of the Vikings Alpha was released today for WotR owners. It is pretty cool actually. It feels like a mix between WotR and Chiv in a good way. Considering that it is only alpha, the gameplay has HUGE potential as it brings the best from both medieval online games. I am still disappointed by the Vikings VS. Saxons setting as I drool of the thought of playing this in a Roman/Greek, feudal Japan or Crusades setting. Remember that WotR is free to play without custom classes so if anyone wants to give it a shot and be guided and aided by myself, let me know.

New features:
- Travel Mode: You can sprint really fast but unequips weapons for realism. The movement is not floaty or sluggish as it can appear like in WotR.
- Dodge attacks: Can attack during dodge with special animations for realism and fun. Really cool I tell you.
- No plate armour or cavalry is going to make balance easier

Chivish features:
- Dodge
- Throwing weapons
- Stamina
- More brutal and faster pace for the time being
- Special attack
