Well to be extremely clear For me Disciples 2 was the apogee in 2D graphics that can be achieved for this sort of games

For me it wasn't, far from it. For me the graphics of Heroes 2 were (and still are) charming:

I like its artistic direction much more than that of Heroes 3. And so are the graphics of Simon the Sorcerer:

Monkey Island 2:

and many others. Saying that Disciples 2 is the apogee of 2D graphics is ludicrous.

As a side note, the in-game models, portraits, and town screens in Disciples 2 were actually 3D turned 2D.

Ah not really depends, I read some ware that from the point of view of marketing that for American Continent pointing out great Graphics or next gen etc is a big money seller, for Europe is mixed but gameplay is more important and Asian market can't remember but something on the line of the both whit emphasis on graphics.

I said "in my view", as a gamer. Of course the marketing is where the money is.

Not necessarily, even for game developers creates different challenges, but 2D has a lot more limitations than 3D when creating a setting, maybe is true that beside the aesthetics factor 3D hasn't brought much to the Heroes games (the TBS) doesn't mean in H6 we won't see 3D environment used as game mechanic or integrate part of quest/event etc., but remaining to 2D would mean, for me, no evolution just drawing units in a new fashion so it won't look to similar to the previous game and would be a shame.

If the 3D environment were used as a game mechanic I would welcome it. But I can tell it isn't the case, because it depends on the nature of the game. Being turn-based, so played on a grid, it's safe to assume the 3D won't bring anything to the gameplay, just as the 3D wouldn't bring anything to a classic adventure game.

One problem I always had with H2 was the irregular placement of black outlines, rarely ever on the terrain, but always on the units, it just made it seem weird IMO.

I really wonder if the creator of this tread did see the screenshots? After seing those gorgeous graphics, the beauty of it all, how can someone still say "this game should be 2D"? Really, I think this is one of the most pointless treads I have ever encountered in HC

This is an old thread, created on August 10th, when no screenshots had been revealed yet.

Concerning the graphics, I agree that the game looks beautiful.

 Seriously man I said

I was referring to TBS games like Heroes, Disciples, Age of Wonders, so I wonder way would you go and present games like Monkey Island and Simon the Sorcerer which are adventure games (for which the 2D environment is suited quite well) and have nothing to do with TBS games and H6, so please don't put words in my mouth, if you misinterpreted because I wasn't clear enough with my statement my bad and apologies, but I am sure we are taking about Heroes and other TBS games in general (even if we use them only to exemplify sorten traits because they are part of TBS genre)

Aha not really an argument, if you are a PC gamer you will invest in PC dedicated for gaming and be able to play almost all upcoming games, now if you have a PC you use for net surfing and work and occasionally for gaming that its true a 2D environment could more viable without having to take drastic measures to upgrade your gear.

It's not about me, but others. I mostly care about multiplayer. For me singleplayer is just training for multiplayer, to familiarize myself with the game. It takes at least two people for a multiplayer game, and all of them have to have powerful PCs. See the predicament? For instance I cannot play with my brother and many of my friends because they don't have powerful enough systems.

Because for me 2D is just as suited for TBS games like Heroes, Disciples and Age of Wonders as it is for adventure games. If someone were to make a 2D version of Heroes 6 in parallel with the regular 3D version, I'd mostly play the former, because it would work on my laptop.
