joking? watch carefully...
..so was I Aerial... so was I... the first thing I ever read was a comic (The Uncanny X-MEN #100 I think) I now own about 1600 issues of various titles as WitchBlade, Spawn, Spiderman, Conan, etc...
btw: great pictures you posted for the Gallery... have more?

(If you guys don't like books, please do not feel compelled to post on or even read a thread about books. It just starts worthless bickering. I thank you in advance for your non posting on such discussions)
Tad Williams, great trilogy, I have not read his otherland books yet but have heard they are not as good as Sorrow, Memory, and Thorn.
George R.R. Martin's Game of Thones excellent series.
Shannara Books by Brooks uneven series but overall worth a read.
Dune by Herbert top 1% of novels I've read. (Met him once before he died, good guy, he didn't care for the way they were making the movie)

Speaking of comics, I haven't actually read one in years. Believe it or not I found an old Transformer comic and from there I started some serious drawing. Took about a day before I realized that more comics would have been nice. So I went down to the local newsagent and bought all the titles I could see (which weren't all that many mind you). Soon after I began to collect, fastidiously avoiding most Marvel and DC comics for what was once state of the art Image comics. I'm not sure what's happened to Image, but Marvel seems to have dug itself out of a grave with some more than worthy writers and artists now working for it. Perhaps one day those comics that I have tucked away in plastic folders and in mint condition will be worth something to someone, but for now I'm quite content to reminisce about the days when everybody called me a tomboy for reading comics and then falling over the pictures that I drew.
Does anyone have any recommended comic titles that may be worth having a look at? I mean serious, highly acclaimed titles, not X-Men number 535. Are there any really good titles out there that are up there with Spawn and McFarlane?

how about Spawn 1-present... (only 10 issues missing..)
and most Image (top cow, etc...) titles?
there are still worthy comics out there... they just don't have the "Marvel" or "DC" label on them...

Yep; I was a comic collector too...who wasn't at one time in his life
I just keep track of a few series now.
Money drain...I didn't build that Capitol fast enough

I love some other books as well... gee. Robert Jordan and the "Wheel of Time" inspired me so much that I bought a ring similar to the one in the book- the great Serpent ring. And third but not the last, "The Memoirs of a Geisha". Absolutely fascinated story, told in a great way. I can't believe it has happened at all! Unbelieveable! The book inspired me to write my second book using 1 persona singular ("I went there, checked it...")
I love these books and I recommend them to everyone! Gee, I have read more books than there are hairs on my head and trust me, these are the best.

BTW,
I also love "The Speaker for the Dead" by Orson Scott Card. Such a terrific series! Oh, my, my mother gave me birth and these books made me a human.
As for the Catcher.... it's one of the worst books I've read (don't want to offend anyone)

Happy news for you then
I don't think many know it but the Ender Series, "Lord of Rings" and "Dune" By Herbert and voted 3 best fantasy/ science fiction trilogies of all time!

And itīs the obvious choice(Here thinking ībout the HoMM world): J.R.R.Tolkiens Lord of the Rings trilogy...this is the MOTHER of all RPGaming! Reference-class book! He(JRR)might have dreamt it from ancient American/European folklore,but he weaved it all so beautyfully together 
Other books worth mentioning: practically everything by H.P.Lovecraft...Clive Barkers:WeaveWorld...and of cause: The HoMM-manuals ;P

Books, oh how I have loved thee well...
I was a hardcore fantasy fan ever since picking up (suppresses groan) the Star Wars fiction series back when the first Zahn trilogy was being written. Since then, I've gobbled up...
Piers Anothony: Incarnations of Immortality are great, Xanth got too long, and the guy just has issues *LOL*
Robert Jordan: I'll agree, I stopped liking the series after the seventh, and will never likely pick it up again
Neil Gaiman: Sandman is a must read, but you can honestly skip books 3 and 6, and I recommend starting with the fourth, then go to the first. Stardust is light and just plain fun. I remember Good Omens being funny, but it's been five years since I read it, so my memory is fuzzy about that one. (Five years? Dear me, I'm getting not-so-young!)
C.S. Friedman: Her Coldfire trilogy is nothing short of great light philosophical/religious allegory.
Stephen Lawhead: For Arthurian legend, this guy is as shiznit as Popeye's chicken.
Nowadays, I've mostly stopped reading fiction and gone to pop culture/historical analysis. Jim Goad's "Redneck Manifesto", "Lies My Tacher Told Me" (can't remember the author right now) and all Subgenius literature get top nods here.
Hope my recommedations help a bit to anybody.

Just finished a trilogy form Robin Hobb:
* Assassin's Aprentice
* Royal Assassin
* Assassin's Quest
These are realy great books.
I've read them like a maniac!
