Good news, Bad news...
... you know I've had my share.
About four years ago I began my studies in the Technion University. Now, aside from some minor bureaucracy, I can gladly say that this part of my life is behind me. Yes, the good news are that for all purposes I am now an Electronic Engineer that graduated from a renowned university with a decent grade and I am ready to move on to the next part of my life!
Which brings me to the bad news. Apparently the next part of my life is going to take place in the army for the next six years. You heard me, six freaking years starting from the 3rd of October. Yeah...
Interestingly enough, my studies were not the only thing that started about four years ago. This is also the time I joined a little place known to its denizens as Heroes Community. And everyday I returned from the university tired and weary I found that this place was there for me. It was not a replacement for the weekend meetings with my RL friends, but it still provided me with much needed relaxation after a long and hard day of studies. Be it looking for loopholes in alc's designs or slowly gaining the title of Spam Lord/Spam Chieftain or opening up and maintaining the Peanut Planters' HQ or co-inventing and implementing the unparalleled three-way spamming with Pandora and Elvin or joining one of Mytical's RPs or just making fun of City and other noobs, this place always had something for me and I'm eternally grateful to it and the people who make it what it is.
Someone once made a thread about what you need to do in order to be a full member of HC. One of the things on the list was to make at least one goodbye thread. I guess this is mine. Because just like the university, this part of my life is nearing to an end and starting from the 3rd of October I will no longer have time to play with you all. I know its still three weeks away and this may be a little too soon, but I've known about it for a long time now and I can't keep it in any longer. I'll try to swing by and check up on you once in a while, but I can't make any promises. And in the meanwhile, let's have fun like I know we can.

Tech and internet is not the same thing. Many (if not all) army bases run on internal circuits to avoid hacking.

Of course they run on internal network for the whole military, that's only natural. What I meant is that won't you be able to get on the net with all your education? I'm not speaking of what the army allows you to do, I'm speaking of what you can do.
BTW. most army places run two or three networks simultaneously, the dedicated army one, army public one and internet.

Actually, my studies concentrated more on hardware than software, so I know very little about the internet. And besides, I'll tell a little a secret: universities don't teach you to do anything, they just stuff your head with lots of theoretical knowledge.

Oh that depends, but mostly yeah.
You could always build your own internet terminal from your cellphone or one of the radios from the army. The israeli radios are pretty easy to modify and they've already got the digital side on order so it shouldn't be too hard. *shrugs*
How come you graduated as an engineer from university anyways?
Aren't engineers college graduates?

There are two different words for engineer in Hebrew. One for those who study in university and one for those from college. I looked up the translation for the latter one and it said "practical engineer", so I guess that makes me a theoretical engineer.

Ah, I see, here it's engineer that graduate from college and then there are the diploma engineers that have two more years of study after the engineer's degree and that two years in in a technical university.

6 years? Is that normal for Israel? even with someone post-college? 
In Poland army has been made professional, which means, no more conscripts... and even before you were only conscripted for 5 months to learn the basics.
It was 3 years in communism, and that was hard core. But 6? Insane...

Well since Elvin was the only one who seemed to actually post anything related to the Goodbye thing....I know you don't have to go yet, not until a couple of weeks or so, but I wish you all the luck with the Army and all.
I know we didn't exactly get along the best we could but you were always funny to read and all even if you were a bit too obsessed with Pandora.

The mandatory is 3 for boys and 2 for girls, but the mandatory is right after school. I was given time and money for studies and for that I signed up for another 3 years. And yes, unlike the regular recruits, the first thing I'll do will be the officers' course so I'll be better off than most (theoretically).

It was good having you bro. Sorry to see you leave  ; best of luck in the army and plz behave and be as good of a guy as is possible in your situation. I'll be an unsympathetic ass to the noobs for you.

Israeli politics are insane, if you lose 6 years of your live in army, uh... isn't that to much?
